We are enrolled in Michael's music together class and we could not be happier. My daughter who has a spunky personality loves his class. (We've tried other teachers but Michael blows the other teachers away!!) Also I hate to say this but Michael's vocals and music sound better than the CD we get from class. I think the producers of the CD should sit in Michael's class. We hired Michael to play at my baby shower and Michael was so accommodating as he was already booked on that day, but was able to squeeze us in (he had to skip lunch and drive up and down the peninsula) The kids loved him and we got so many compliments about him. In the beginning of the baby shower he was singing a black eyed peas song, but he makes it his own and it's amazing how talented he is. He incorporates his own style to the music and it's awesome. He also has a way of making everyone feel involved and pays attention to all the kids. He's very patient and really good with kids as my daughter tends to jump up and down and run around. WOW! I was just at my friend's kid's birthday party where Mister Q performed and, seriously, Michael is amazing. He's an extremely talented musician and engages fully with the music and the kids. I don't know what else to say about Teacher Michael that hasn't already been said in other reviews! Teacher Michael came to my daughter's 1st birthday party and engaged all the kids the entire time (there were about 16 kids ranging from age 1 all the way to age 6). The kids barely made a circle because they were so intrigued by him and wanted to get closer. Teacher Michael played a mix of Music Together songs as well as a few current hits on the radio (which the older toddlers loved). He brought his guitar, speakers, iPod, and various instruments for the kids such as rhythm sticks, shakers, drums, bells, etc. My one year old is usually pretty apprehensive with anyone other than immediate family but she was sitting right next to Teacher Michael the entire time with no problem whatsoever. She wasn't even afraid when he got closer to her to show her how to hit the drums with the sticks in her hands. The kids had so much fun and I received so many compliments from the parents afterwards. My one year old finally has a consistent nap schedule down and we will be starting Music Together classes soon. The only bummer is that we aren't able to go to Teacher Michael's class due to scheduling conflicts since he's now in Burlingame and Millbrae only (so if you're able to sign up for his class, don't procrastinate because his classes always fill up fast!). A few other things: Teacher Michael is very professional. He replies to emails promptly, confirms a few days before the event, and comes early to set up. He even gave me his own CD's (volumes 1 & 2), which my kids love. We've been listening to the CD's in the car everyday (the CD's even trump the Disney CD's so that proves how awesome they are!). There's a reason why Mister Q was voted the top Bay Area kids entertainer for the past few years! If you're able to attend an event where Mister Q is playing (he plays all over the Bay Area at parks, schools, libraries, etc.), go check it out with your child(ren)! Mister Q comes to my son's daycare every week for music. My son (3 yo) loves him and talks about him all of the time. We recently booked him for my son's 3rd birthday party. He was so professional - confirming beforehand, showing up early (despite horrible SF parking), etc. He remembered all of my son's favorite songs and made sure to play them all. But what was most impressive was how well he interacted with all of the kids. From the littlest baby to the oldest kid, all of them were engaged by Michael's performance. I hired Mister Q for my daughter's second birthday and her was amazing every step of the way! He is very responsive and a great communicator via email and in person. He arrived with a lot of props: drums, shakers, sticks. Kids were engaged the whole time (45 minutes), which is hard with 2 year olds! I didn't need to participate at all to keep my daughter engaged. No one was running away or did anything else but play and dance with Mister Q. I've been to many kids parties with entertainment and kids are very rarely all engaged, and sometimes I feel like I can do a better job than many of those entertainers. Michael is exceptionally good at what he does and is worth every penny! Not to mention that his songs are original and my daughter has been a fan ever since. Mister Q is placed next to Santa in her mind, and she is treasuring a shaker that Michael forgot, which she thinks was his present to her ))). He's like a magnet - the kids (and adults too!) just come to him, without any fuss, and are totally captivated the whole time. He even asked for some of my son's favorite songs so that he could try to include those in his performance. On the day of the party, he arrived on time, if not early. He set up quickly and immediately had the kids around the gathering drum while they waited. We had about 20 kids, ranging in age from 1 to 12 years old. Most of the kids were engaged the entire 45 minutes. A couple of kids wandered off (to play in the other room) but would return when they heard something they wanted to participate in. The 2-3 year olds were very cute in how they were singing along and doing the movement and dancing. If you are familiar with Music Together classes, he incorporates some elements from there. He brought drums, egg shakers, scarves, and a parachute. With the parachute, the kids were "popping" balls in the air and with so many active boys in our party, those balls were flying all over the place! Didn't faze him at all! I think Michael (Mr. Q) is probably able to quickly assess groups to know what kinds of activities will get everyone highly engaged. Most of all though, I think he is a talented guitarist, singer, and overall musician. I highly recommend him. read more
