MY SON STARTED AT THE BOTTOM, GUYS! My 11 year old son decided he wanted to sing and since no one in our family sings, I had no idea where to start. He does some acting and dancing so I figured it would help if he could carry a tune. He took lessons with a local instructor I found through his charter school and he enjoyed them but there was absolutely no growth after 3 months. He did not sound good at all! I THOUGHT HIS SINGING WAS HOPELESS! (If you've ever tried to give a cat a bath.....he sounded worse than that!) A month into the pandemic I stumbled upon Deanna's name on the list of our charter school vendors and thought we should give it one more try. We had our free consult with her and heard her voice!!!! She also went on to explain that she has a whole method and system so after much begging from my son I decide to give it one more try. I NEVER THOUGHT MY SON WAS CAPABLE OF SOUNDING THE WAY HE DOES NOW!!!!! From lesson one I was sold. She worked on his singing as a whole and within a few weeks he was sounding decent! She gave him things to work on daily and the growth was so quick and amazing to watch. Today he is working on full songs to perform for auditions! Hearing my baby belt out his songs now brings tears of joy to my eyes. THE ONLY REGRET I HAVE IS NOT STARTING SOONER WITH DEANNA! *Gasp* Where do I begin?... I am a musician of 15 years - with a background in composition, vocal performance, piano technic, percussion, production, etc. I have worked with several different vocal instructors throughout my lifetime. I have been a solo artist for 2 years at Pledge Empire Records while studying at McNally Smith College of Music for 2+ years before moving to Los Angeles, CA. To say the least, the day I started working with Deanna is the day I became a REAL musician. Looking back at my previous experiences as a musician, pianist and especially a vocalist; I am disappointed that I didn't know Deanna sooner! I've taken lessons from so many teachers over the years but Deanna was the only one that worked for me. She will tell you the truth, she will motivate you and guide you through it all. Being a performer for years, I have always struggled understanding my voice. Deanna explained the technicalities to me so I could understand what I was doing wrong. She is simply wonderful! Love, love, love this woman! My 13-year-old son has an amazing voice but he has a lot to learn and is usually difficult to teach because he is stubborn and REALLY good at pulling people off of topic. Deanna wasn't falling for ANY of it. She somehow connected with him instantly, gaining his respect and admiration. While Deanna is as firm with him as is necessary, she is also playful and fun. He looks forward to his lessons and has learned SO much, so fast! I like that Deanna focuses on learning proper technique before developing vocal range because this is something none of his other coaches have done.
