It was calm and decent even though there were a lot boxes around the store that made things difficult to get through and there wasn't anyone available in the checkout section since I think the owner who was wearing a checkered black and white shirt with a black hat who looks like he's in mid or late 40s and other staff member were getting some vintage comics packed up to mall for the holidays which is understandable. There was a comic book I was interested in purchasing I think it was a vintage Spider-Man book from the 60s or 70s that had the lizard on the front and I was gonna purchase it until the owner came in with a stressed or angry attitude towards me saying that all the comic in the white boxes needed to be alphabetical order and he took it from my hand without even saying anything in a proper manner that they weren't for sale and that whatever was on the shelf were the ones on sale. Thankfully, I'm a person who's calm and didn't have a reaction like anyone would and it was a place that I won't visiting again for a while, maybe until the holiday session is over and the owner is calm then I'll give them another chance. Moral of the story is that comic book owners who are have a stressful day and a negative attitude, don't be afraid to take a day off and get some time for yourself.

Well - the building is massive - the little section that you can actually browse is tiny - and I mean like TINY. No rare books, genre sections barely a shelf long. I was in and out in 15 mins and even that was me trying. This was about 2 weeks ago. There was a giant section on the west side of the building with stacks of books that was roped off. Is this the inventory? Why can't I see those books too? Did I come during an event prep or is this literally how it is? If I didn't know this was the same organization, I never would have guessed it. I support their mission but what happened? Why is this location so bad? Hoping the Lake St location has some of that LS location magic because I'm so so so disappointed.

While I usually try to seek out small locally owned bookstores, we were already at the mall and had no plans of exploring the city, so this was the convenient spot to stop. If you need a book or a gift similar to what you can find at most nationwide known book stores (Barnes & Noble for example), then this shop will be a good stop.

Located in the North Side in Chicago Ridge (Yes they named it that again) and not so shabby! The prices are a little bit different but they still have a range of books to satisfy the best of readers. I know, most now will read through Kindles and iPads, but old school reading is what makes us understand all that was in the past. It's a small store with a wonderful selection of books perfect for every book worm. The prices are incredibly low and they are supportive of local artists. I was so pleased to see a father with two kids in shopping. It added to the warmth of the place and the neighborhood feel. Don couldn't have been nicer. He introduced himself to his customers and I had the luck of having time to have a nice conversation about the ever growing stack of books in my house. I am so glad I can walk to this store. It is exactly what this neighborhood needed. This store is what the Oak Park Arts District is all about.
