Came here to volunteer with others and it was a very nice way of giving back. I worked in the shopping area and assisted individuals with picking out toys for their kids, making a choice on gift wrapping, and wishing them an amazing holiday! I was able to assist multiple families and I hope the gifts bring joy to their families! To note, parking can be tricky but you'll be able to find something. Finding the entrance to the location was easy enough as well. I'll definitely volunteer here again! read more

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. What a wonderful gift it was to volunteer at mission arlington this morning. It's a blessing to be able to take part in feeding so many families. I met so many wonderful families today coming to make sure that Arlington Families were able to enjoy thanksgiving. I have seen every single year families, friends, groups take out their day to make sure everyone is blessed with a meal . I saw so many children with their families eager to join in and volunteer so young . It's an amazing thing . Thank You To Everyone that came out to serve any way possible. Happy Thanksgiving. The Lady in the front, was so Rude. There is a young lady working as a volunteer, who asked questions in regard to Toys. The young lady walked up to me so I said, "Would I be able to get some toys for my son"? The girl said yes and here comes the front clerk telling me that I am asking many people about a "WAIT". I believe in Integrity, Focus and Stability. As a human, the front clerk should have come to me and said, "Do you have any questions" or "How can I help you" instead she went straight in on ME. I Thank God for these few women here behind this brown office doors, there smiles at me made me feel back welcomed. Thanks Ladies :) read more

Closed early which prevented a U-Haul of donations from being delivered. Won't try to donate to this establishment again.

Great donation center very well organized and the people are very friendly. Most of the workers are volunteers. I really like that they support families who are struggling and or are victims of domestic abuse. It's a non profit and faith based. read more

Staff was super helpful when I visited to make a donation today. The complex is large but the donation process was super efficient. I'm on a Mission to tell you about the Mission in Arlington. Is that wrong? The employees at this free clinic were really lovely to me, and they put me on the list (to be seen the same day) instead of having me wait 3 days - which really wasn't fair cuz there were other people that have to wait 3 days - but I'm really grateful that they did because my finger may have fallen off if they hadn't - thanks a lot Mochi. The latina girls loved me, but the cute caucasian girl gave me a hard time. I was speaking Spanish to the Latinas, and then I forgot the word "nascimiento", and the Caucasian girl was like, "listen cutie, if you don't know how to say date of birth in Spanish, then you need to work on your Spanish." I kind of like when cute girls give me a hard time. (tosses hair) But me flirting is not what got me in on the same day - unheard of around here. My finger was about to need to be amputated. It was close. It was that infected. That's actually why they gave me the priority - because it was such a severe medical emergency and I may have lost my finger otherwise. However, what this did make me realize is that you really need medical insurance in America, and for anybody that doesn't have it, you are f**ked. Absolutely f**ked. Because going through this every time you need a little bit of basic medicine from a doctor must be a total nightmare for poor people and illegal immigrants. Of which some people consider me both LOL. Funny then, that I was never paid several hundred dollars for work I did for a company worth several *billion* dollars. Maybe that's how they got so wealthy? Maybe that's why I'm poor? ;) Anyway, medicine should be free for all, and Medical Care should not cost anyone anything - considering that we all pay taxes. And even if some of us don't (for whatever reason, poverty, dishonesty, cough Trump cough), nothing should stop humans having access to medical care. It should be one thing we all get. Along with basic food and basic shelter (if we can't afford them). If we think we're a Christian country (we're not, but a lot think we are) or a decent country, that would have to be a prerequisite. Also we're the richest country in the world. Maybe that's how we got so wealthy? Rich is best, f*** the rest? ;) Unfortunately in this country you do have to pay for medical care, and if you don't, then you end up sitting in this clinic all day (if you're lucky enough to be close to a clinic like this), with a lot of very sick people - and we're talking about anywhere from 6 to 12 hours of wait time - even on the day that you are booked in and scheduled to go and see the doctor. Absolutely insane. But it's a 5 star place, for saving my finger, for making an exception for me, for helping a lot of people in need - for free. But my goodness what you have to go through to get well in the USA if you don't have money. Not to mention the fact that you will have to listen to them preaching about how you should convert to Christianity. I'll pretend to believe in Jesus if it saves my finger. See? Jesus saves. It's true. Pretending to believe all that stuff saved my finger. TY Jesus! Instead you should just convert to be my girlfriend or boyfriend and I'll see you tonight. read more

Hello everyone, It was my first experience volunteering, and it was NOT an enjoyable experience. As a new volunteer at this particular location, I wanted to give back to the community and really make a positive impact, but I was met with adversity. The volunteering site felt cold and bleak, while the volunteering coordinators, who were supposed to offer guidance, seemed spatially detached. For instance, the person working in the front office appeared to be abrasive and even hostile toward the volunteers, refusing to let them sign in and out to log their hours. This occurrence evoked a sense of sadness within my bones because many schools, such as the one I go to, require some form of official documentation to verify the hours. I understand that my experience is very particular, and I'm not trying to undermine the importance of volunteering, but I believe there needs to be an understanding of the importance of a strong, supportive environment. read more

A wonderful non-profit that assists families and individuals in need of help, everything from counciing, free clinic, clothing, home goods, etc. They do not charge any fees to the thousands of people they help. This is a wonderful place to donate clothing, furniture, anything for the home. There are other places that take donations, but they sell the items you donate (for a very low price) - I prefer Missions because they never do that. If you don't have goods to donate, maybe you can make a cash donation, which helps them cover all their expenses. Even if it's only $10 or $20 (every; month would be so awesome) - Missions appreciates anything you can do to keep them providing their services to all people who are less fortunate or have hardships we don't. Many blessings to all those that find it in their heart to support this organization in any way you can. read more

But one woman stole another woman's item and they let her go and the person that stole them still works there. I'm truly disappointed that people still steal and letting that girl go was not okay. It helps ,I appreciate their work and selfless effort of trying to put a smile on people's faces in their own Lil way.

Church based mission which started from a family of missionaries that got their start doing God's work in South Korea. When the couple returned back home to Texas, they decided if they could do God's work in Korea, why not do it here in Arlington and have been doing so since 1986. When they started the Mission they did so through their church First Baptist Arlington. In 1990 Mission Metroplex was born which allowed the participation of churches from other areas, cities and across the nation regardless of denomination. (This is per their website, research I did prior to volunteering) The mission offers an array of services for those in need. Ranging from food, emergency help, dental, medical, spiritual help, children & youth programs and bible studies. For those looking to donate and see what they're about, check the website or join in on special nights when they offer events to raise awareness. For volunteer, check out their website. You can help out via donations of food, clothing or time. It was Christmas time and typically during the holidays my cousin and I will choose a couple charities and help out via food donations & or volunteering. We checked out the mission prior and made an appointment the same day. We were lucky someone answered since during the holidays its usually busy. Whether religious or not, they could use your help. I met people from churches across different cities during that visit. Obviously there were others with the same idea. The work was easy stuff, mostly sorting goods donations in bins and helping (some) with receiving & sorting of food donations. They also put my height to good use, being that I'm tall, they needed some items moved higher. Fun times, easy participation, & drop-offs welcome. read more

The impact this Mission has on the community is tremendous - appreciate all the do as mg with the open environment to serve and support

My experience at Mission Arlington wasn't too bad, they did help with one bill but can't do much with rental or financial assistance. They're very kind but it would help to know those limitations before arriving when you call. I had an extremely unpleasant experience at the Mission Medical Center next door. While they helped with some of my meds. I was assured that one very expensive one would be covered by Dr. Andrea during my first visit (they couldn't get me in that day so I returned with documentation completed, a bag of all my meds and screen shots from my doctor of my active meds that I just can't afford being so close to homelessness). She was rude and humiliating and spoke to me like a child. I'm almost 50 (while I look very young). However, I also have a PhD and am just having a horrible work year and have needed the meds for quite sometime. Instead of owning that she didn't ask the appropriate questions she insisted that she refused to fill the most expensive one that I've needed all year. She proceeded to speak to me like a child and condescending. Just because someone is there doesn't make them lack intelligence or ability. It's disconcerting when you have a waiting room full of black and brown people that she would approach someone so harshly. I felt like I was having a full panic attack. I've already had a heart attack this year and have a family history of cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Even the student nurse caught it and was so kind. Fully understanding where I held my extremely intelligent tongue with grace. She was so compassionate and understood where the concern I had that my response would be an opportunity to be stereotyped. I left in tears. Just because we need help doesn't mean we lack intelligence, intellect or ability. It doesn't matter if you're a janitor or a CEO, NO ONE deserves to be handled in such a manner and with the room door WIDE OPEN! She implied that I wanted Ozempic for Hollywood standards of weight loss (which doesn't help either emotionally or physically). She showed no empathy and didn't care that my PCP prescribed it as a preventive measure due to my other health issues and family history. She kept recounting that she refused to write it because I don't have diabetes... YET! But opted to give me a diabetic pill which is an oxymoron in itself. I got there at 7am (the 7th person) didn't leave for almost four hours just to be met with kindness from everyone but her. As thankful as I am for what I did get, that medication is 1300.00 and I haven't worked or had coverage all year. My prescription is not expired from my PCP and if she was going to behave that way, she should've asked me on my first trip if I had diabetes since she let me and the whole office know her need to comeback three times recounting her refusal to write it instead of letting me leave with some level of dignity and apologizing for not asking the appropriate questions when she gave me the application for it to begin with. She didn't seem to question any of the other meds I had despite what they were, so let's be consistent shall we?! Sadly they have a generic onsite for the script, and it doesn't take a psychologist (like me) to recognize when to be empathetic or give the person space. A panic attack for me can lead right to a heart attack. Too many people are struggling to avoid homelessness and joblessness to have to contend with that behavior. I gave them three stars because everyone else was very kind and her behavior shouldn't be a representation of them. If I have to go back I'll be seeing one of the other doctors. read more

I came here to complete my hours for school. The only good part about this place is that you can show up without doing any paperwork. The bad thing about this place is that they are rude and very demanding when you are the one there to help them out. I couldn't even have my headphones in or bring a book to study without getting yelled out. I was placed in the back of the store where you sort a lot of the donations that come in. I didn't know having my headphones would be a problem, since I didn't talk to anyone there. Specifically Steven and Regina were the ones that told me to put my headphones away. This place doesn't even have water to offer. read more

I truly don't understand why they require a complete list of what one is donating when the driver shows up completely unprepared. Wasted my time and left me with furniture I still have to deal with!! Very disappointed in Mission Arlington today. I have given my used furniture to them for decades. After waiting for three weeks for a pick up, they refused the chair. The leather recliner has some age, but it is a solid piece of furniture. There is a crack in the leather at the headrest. If it's not prefect and new, they don't want it. I will donate anywhere else from now on! read more

This is a review on the donation process. First, the parking lot is odd to get out of so I suggest street parking. I showed up on Saturday afternoon around 5:30 with a banker box full of non- perishables. The front door was locked which I found odd seeing as how their hours are until 7PM. I went to the side door only because I saw someone leave through it. When I got inside, there was an older woman talking with someone about moving furniture. After about a minute, she got up to ask someone in the back for the guy she was talking to. When she walked by, she looked me directly in the eye and didn't say a word - no Hi or just a moment - nothing. Then two people walk by, one holding a box, same thing - no greeting whatsoever. The woman then came back and continued to ignore me. Even ther other older ladies that were working there saw me standing there and said nothing too. What the heck?! Another person came in to donate and he stood there wondering when someone would acknowledge us, too. When the two that walked by earlier came back around, the other donator asked where the drop off was. They then finally said Oh, it's around the back. They didn't even look in my direction still. So I followed the other guy and went around the back. Lo and behold, the two that walked by earlier were the first ones flocking to my car when I pulled around the back. If this is how they'd treat someone DONATING their time, money and food, I'd hate to be someone that actually needed emergency services. It seems they won't even look at you unless you're dressed up. They definitely judge a book by its cover here. Disgusting. I should have heeded the Google reviews. I will take my donation elsewhere from now on. And get some freaking signs on the front door since you have it locked during business hours. read more

Had the pleasure of helping out a few times, did not mind the experience at all. Mission Arlington is an amazing organization that loves Jesus and walks the walk. There's no question that they take the Gospel very seriously. I've had the privilege of partnering with them for 8 years. They've never wavered from the mission. Despite what other reviews have said, I've never volunteered with an organization that was more focused on building the kingdom of God. If your focus is on personal comfort and convenience, Mission Arlington might not be the place for you, but there's no other place more worthy of your time and money. read more

Mission Arlington is awesome. Mission Arlington is a wonderful organization that runs on the help of volunteers and is operated by kind people who love God. It is a great place with a convenient location in the metroplex that you or a group of people can go to and help the community just by using a little bit of your time. Texas weather can be crazy, this I know. If you can't take it request to do some kind of indoor work. Most of the sorting of the donated goods are outside, and this is usually what is needed when it comes to manual labor. Bring your water and wear clothes as appropriate for the weather. You do not have to work for endless hours. You can quit and leave whenever you want. A word to the wise: if the task you're given makes you want to pee yourself, ask to do something else. This is VOLUNTEER work after all. If you come to this place, bring a heart of service and mind to work. I would recommend volunteering to EVERYONE. read more

This past weekend, I volunteered with Mission Arlington for the first time, and found it a very rewarding experience. They provide food, clothing, medical care, and other resources to those in need. They also seek to provide language lessons, job counseling, immigration guidance, drug recovery counseling, and spiritual guidance to those who need help. Mission Arlington is a very loving community work that truly cares for people and tries to provide assistance for those who have the least means to get by in our society. I was impressed with the dedication to caring for people, and I highly recommend this charitable organization as a worthy place to donate resources, and also as a place where one can volunteer! read more

Some important advice for anyone considering becoming a "full-time volunteer" or a "summer missionary". If you have no opinions of your own, and possess a burning desire to be controlled by fear and shame in a classic cult-like environment, then this place will be perfect for you. If you're tired of Jesus being your compass, you'll be happy to hear that the Mission director Tillie will become your functional god and will use her absolute and unchallenged power to control every aspect of your life. Because who really wants to decide for themselves who their friends are, when they can spend time with them, who they can date, where they can go and what they can do, 24/7? You'll also fit in great if you are a workaholic that hates God's example and command to rest your mind, body and soul. You'll be so busy with your soul draining / back breaking labor (12-16 hours a day, 6.5 days a week) that you won't be weighed down with any free time to waste at the feet of Jesus. And if you were worried that all that endlessly laboring for the Mission would result in too much income, don't worry! The Mission brings in millions upon millions of dollars every year, but the few at the top handle all of it so you won't be burdened by more than pennies per hour, if you get paid at all. Since you'll make less than a sweat shop slave, Tillie generously allows her volunteer staff and summer missionaries to live off the donated food scraps, so while you may suffer from dysentery, heart disease, obesity and food poisoning, at least won't starve to death. I could go on and on, but I hope you get the idea. Most reviewers here made their conclusions by catching a glimpse at the Mission's cover. I wanted to give you a peek inside the book so you could make an informed decision about giving your time or money to this shiny institution. read more
