I visited the place for the first time on Thursday. I met Angel who's a wonderful lady that I provisionally talked to on the phone. The love and energy that the volunteers there have and employees too is out of this world. With people like them we can win the fight on hunger. Please take some time to visit this place and see the amazing work they do. Take some canned goods with you, pasta and anything else you might and bring your gift for those in need. Maybe after a visit (far from the eye far from the heart) you will get to understand better why we all need to go beyond just felling sorry for those in deed and decide to actually do more for them.

I went to go deliver some packages and she had an attitude off the back. I was flabbergasted with this as the type of business it is, helping people in need. I walked up asking a question as I was told to do so by another employee and there went the attitude, I was so confused. I hope she does get held accountable for her actions as I did call and put a formal complaint. I really hope she's not treating the customers that are in need this way.

Every agency has funder imposed barriers that will stymie the ability of said agency to serve EVERY person, yet the real OGs will find a way, when the will of the client is strong enough. Opening Doors for Women in need is a hub for women in all situations of disadvantage, that need a hand up. The BEAUTIFUL space that the physical location occupies offers rehabilitative classes, vocational opportunity and educational avenues for the participants of the program. A true "third space" to call their own. Scattered throughout the community are residential homes that operate as transitional homes. Understand this - you have to pay a very small deposit, and you will have up to 6 housemates. You are required to wake at 6 and be out of the house during work hours in most instances. You have chores and duties each day, and you pay a rent. However, as transitional homes go it is very minimal in comparison to market rates. However, if your situation is truly one of need, you will gladly adhere to these rules and regulations, with a kind "thank you," understanding that the best growth blooms in adversity. If you lose sight, Ms. Sandra is one to look to to regain your vision. I was able to assist multiple families and I hope the gifts bring joy to their families! To note, parking can be tricky but you'll be able to find something. Finding the entrance to the location was easy enough as well. I'll definitely volunteer here again!

She scanned my item, turned the screen around to me, and walked away without a word. I had to finish the transaction myself. I understand that most of the workers here are volunteers, but basic customer service skills go far. Pricing is done with a color dot system and the pricing is fair. It is pretty clean for a thrift store. Unfortunately, the poor service left me with a bad taste in my mouth, so I won't return to shop or donate.

I myself have worked with non-profits in the past, in jobs, and I know that they are not perfect. But Cornerstone does have heart and the desire to help. They may not always be perfect(though I have not seen that) but I think they have the desire and the willingness to try to help you. I know they work with many churches, such as my church-Christ Chapel Bible Church-and I am glad for the prayer and the spiritual support-in my own recovery and my own life, trusting and having faith in God is what is helping me to recover. As with any non-profit, I think you have to take the good with the bad, and for me, Cornerstone has been all good. For the people who would be homeless without Cornerstone, or without groceries or even without a decent wardrobe, I am very appreciative and grateful for them!
