I cannot adequately express how grateful I am to have found TEF. I lost a ton of weight in 5 short weeks, I feel and see a huge difference in my body, and I found workouts that challenge me unlike anything else. The coaches are AMAZING, the environment is addictive, and the community support will help you reach any and all of your goals. The TEF 6 week challenge, and just TEF in general, will absolutely transform you for the better. Happy to call this place my fitness home.

Multiple trainers for each session to ensure you are working out to your personal best. 3.) Pushing individuals to their extreme. 4.) Teaching you how to train with your body, dumbells and resistance bands. 5.) Making you conduct every workout with High Intensity Interval Training. and what makes it the best and better than cross fit and any other boot camp? *drum rolls with high hat crash* 6.) They give you a nutrition seminar every month! Showing you what to eat, when to eat it and how much to eat of it! Yeah that's right, Tyler English Fitness! The owner himself got tired of the mundane and overestimated Gym culture that he decided to use not only his academic skill but his profession.........Natural body building! He's learned the science of nutrition, proper work outs and building a body. He has a degree in sports medicine and exercise science, a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) performamce enhancement specialist, World National Body Building Federation competitor and winner on many occasions, Certified Personal Trainer and Youth Conditioning Specialist. This guy is REAL DEAL. Because of him I managed to have so much energy, with the "look good naked" body. I ate very nutritiously by sticking to his diet plan, and worked through his intense sessions. Note: about 600 to 1,000 calories get burned from your body doing this class. I went from an overweight into almost obese 225 pounds to a lean and ripped 190 pounds. I was an athlete in high school. I played Football, ran Indoor and Outdoor track. But at around 30 years of age, I had a better body with awesome athleticism (increased agility, stamina, endurance, power, etc.) now than when I was 16 years old. I have progression pix posted up pn here. You can go to their website: www. ConnecficutFitnessBootCamps . Com. Joe C. (Yelp Elite '12) is a frequent Boot Camper and he is the 8th picture in the testimonial section. That's proof The last reviewer, Joe C. Is the walking billboard for this place. He lost 75 pounds! I was impressed to see his progression over a year of hard work! Back in the day this place started with house moms and female professionals over the age of 40. Now many people have caught on to how awesome this place is. You can now see people of all ages, sexes, etc. all here for one thing........to stay healthy! I can never go back to the gym. I'm too lazy. I have no motivation unless someone who knows their stuff and that's Tyler English and his elite staff! They teach you proper form, they understand your potential and teach you how to eat clean. Many of us Americans are misinformed about proper nutrition. Tyler English Fitness enlightens all. He also owns Athletic Revolution, a training camp for children 5 years old to adolescents.

MELT offers a one-free week trial membership. And after one week, I knew I had to sign up…read more I've done gyms for years. Used them irregularly at best. MELT is the anti-gym experience. You have a good-sized facility, trainers who know your name and want you to come in for training, and the workouts are challenging to your fitness level. They last 30 minutes. Quick does not equal easy. Au contraire, mon frere! You're moving the whole time, under the watchful eye of your trainer, and by the end, you will find yourself sweaty, tired, and thankful you survived. Think you can't "handle" boot camp classes? Neither did I until I went and saw that they customize your workout to your level and work around injuries. There are all ages, sizes and fitness levels that go. Feel self-conscious? Surprisingly, I've never felt any judgement. You're too busy trying to get through each station of the workout to notice anything other than what you're doing. I've been going to MELT for 4 months now. I go about 3-5x a week and I have not done the same exercise twice. They have three locations: Glastonbury, South Windsor, and Harwinton. And the other thing about MELT classes: they know you, and they know what you're capable of, and thus they know when you're slacking! The trainer will come over, give you a little smile, hand you a heavier weight, modify the form of an exercise, or make you drop deeper into a squat or lunge while asking you perkily: "Do you feel that now?" Oh, and if you're a woman thinking this isn't for you: think again. Just as many women attend then men. There are equal number of male and female trainers, too. This is not those boot camps where the trainers yell at you. They definitely push you. They motivate you. And they congratulate you. You will discover that your body, and you, are much stronger than you ever thought you could be. Your win is their win.

In my hunt for a new fitness class place, m.e.l.t. kept popping up- recommendations here on Yelp, Groupons, friends, etc. I decided to purchase the Groupon- $19 for 3 weeks unlimited. Purchasers of such Groupon must attend an orientation, which was a nice way to get everyone acclimated. I will admit, I was skeptical about the workouts only being 30-35 minutes. My skepticism has subsided, and I am a believer. I felt more accomplished in those 30 minutes than I have in any hour long class, let alone my individual workouts at the gym. The instructors are great, motivating, but not in your face. They give different levels of difficulty, and alternate options for exercises if you're not comfortable. Classes may be signed up for online, which is convenient. There are plenty of class time selections, and what's really great is that the classes are the same for the full day (ex: all Tuesday classes are meltabolic, Wednesday is melted upper body) so you don't have to pick and choose certain times on different days. I still have 2 1/2 weeks left of my Groupon, and then I will consider purchasing a membership (seems fairly pricy though!).

The Fitness Center for women is local, small gym that's currently moving to a new location…read more Generally, the staff is very pleasant and polite, and they help you with everything, take free measurements for you and all. The trainers are VERY nice and polite. The owner, however, is anything but. I signed up twice --- the first time before I had gone to college, and had enough free time to commit to a schedule. It worked out fine until I had to cancel due to financial problems (I enrolled in college and could no longer afford to be in college and to afford the $41.48 membership fee, so I had to cancel.) I did this legitimately, by paying the $99 cancellation fee after about 5-6 months. After that, since I was in college, I did not attend the gym for about 2-3 years, until this summer when I had about 3 months to sign up again, this May (my new contract actually began 5/29/13). So, I thought fine, I can afford this until I get a stable income after graduating college (I am graduating this year.) However, as the months passed on, I noticed another charge on my bank account for $46.59 in ADDITION to the $41.48 which was already taken out. I was fully aware of the yearly $25.00 fee, which had already came out, but this was something else. This extra charge was explained to me (much later, I might add) and the staff of the bank as an "insufficient funds" charge. The $20 "insufficient funds charge" + $41.48 - $46. I called the gym the very day I noticed the charge, and immediately asked to speak to the owner, however she was on vacation at the moment and they said I needed to wait for a week until she got back. This was not acceptable due to the fact I had missing funds in my account at the moment, and I could not wait for the owner to sort it out with me. I am a college student and need EVERY cent in my account, and I do not account for such errors like "double billing" and other things that would cause my account to go into the negative. I had to call my bank and file a chargeback for the extra amount of the $46. Bank of America explained this charge as a merchant error, and the bank refunded me the amount. The gym owner very rudely stated when she called today, that she disputed the charge against her company, because it was "not her error" and said that the bank is going to retract the refunded amount from my bank. The owner, Kristie, was VERY rude and didn't seem to be very understanding of the problem. She insisted that she "did nothing wrong", and when I mentioned i'd like to cancel out of pure frustration and because I was moving out of town soon (and would be signing up with a much cheaper gym) in addition to all the trouble this has caused me with the bank (with overdraft fees and calling both the bank AND the gym to

I joined the Fitness Center For Women last June after having an annual physical that left me…read morefeeling very upset about my physical condition and weight. The nurse practitioner recommended it to me, and I have no regrets at all about joining -- it has been a wonderful experience. When you start, they evaluate your fitness level, and design a workout for you, also spending an hour of time with you making sure you know how to set up the machines and how to do each exercise without hurting yourself. I worked out on my own mostly over the summer and also tried the hula hoop class with Tanya. Not only is it a very fun class -- it is a good workout that raises your heart rate and makes you sweat. This Fall, I joined the Diva Boot Camp. I am far from a Diva, but I have found a great group of women who support each other with making it through some tough workouts and do so consistently. Kristie, the gym owner, leads the camp, and she keeps the workouts varied and interesting. She is encouraging and tough all at the same time. I was new to the area, and this has really made me feel like I have a community of people who are becoming friends and who are striving together to meet their goals. Next June, when I go back for my annual physical, I suspect it will be a very different experience. For anyone who has not tried an "all women's gym" and is curious -- I highly recommend it. It just takes the edge off and let's you focus on your workouts and not worry about whether you look presentable. There is not a lot of vanity -- it's a place where women can work out and feel at ease whatever your size or fitness level. Go for it -- you have nothing to lose (except a few pounds) ; )
