About me: 41 years old, male, college athlete (rowing), 25 years experience lifting weights. I'm 6'5" and weighed about 210 lbs. when I started at Fitbody. Greg is the first personal trainer I have ever worked with. Fitbody is located on the second floor of a commercial building in Avon, CT. It is clean and private. There are a wide variety of dumbbells, weighted balls, resistance bands, mats, and benches. There is also a Smith Machine with plenty of plates for presses and squats. Lots of natural light and good music to motivate you. Having never worked with a trainer before, I wasn't sure what to expect from Greg. Whatever expectations I had going in, Greg exceeded them. First, Greg is extremely professional: he is accommodating when it comes to scheduling workouts; always on time; always prepared when I enter the gym; never on his cell phone or distracted with other things; completely focused on me and my workout. Second, he is knowledgeable: he explains the purpose of every exercise, varies workouts to keep things challenging, and introduced many new exercises to my routine. Third, Greg is motivating: he has a positive attitude; compliments me when I work hard or show improvement; pushes me when he sees that I'm dogging it; and makes difficult workouts more fun. The workouts are challenging. Each session, we focus on a specific body part: for me, the split is as follows: (1) chest, (2) biceps, (3) shoulders, (4) back, (5) triceps, and (6) legs. We usually do 4 sets of various exercises focused on the applicable body part (i.e. on chest day we may do incline bench press, dumbbell press, push-ups, and cable flys). Between sets is where the real fun happens- rather than rest, Greg has me perform various plyometric exercises like running up and down stairs, pushing a weighted sled, jumping on and off a bench, hitting the punching bag, etc. The cumulative effect is exhausting but very effective. Every workout concludes with some abdominal work. There is a tremendous feeling of accomplishment after each workout that I appreciate almost as much as the gains I have made. Greg has provided me with an opportunity to work hard and feel good about my effort and progress. And I have definitely made great progress, especially when I worked with Greg on my diet. I have lost 20 lbs. over the course of about 5 months- I'm now 190 lbs. and 10% body fat. I can see veins in my abs, arms, chest, and shoulders. At 41 years old, I don't think I've ever looked this good. I am proud of my body and the progress I've made while working with Greg at Fitbody It took me a while to pick up the phone and call Greg to schedule my first workout, but I'm really glad that I did. I highly recommend Fitbody. I hope this review was helpful.

They give you a nutrition seminar every month! Showing you what to eat, when to eat it and how much to eat of it! Yeah that's right, Tyler English Fitness! The owner himself got tired of the mundane and overestimated Gym culture that he decided to use not only his academic skill but his profession.........­Natural body building! He's learned the science of nutrition, proper work outs and building a body. He has a degree in sports medicine and exercise science, a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) performamce enhancement specialist, World National Body Building Federation competitor and winner on many occasions, Certified Personal Trainer and Youth Conditioning Specialist. This guy is REAL DEAL. Because of him I managed to have so much energy, with the "look good naked" body. I ate very nutritiously by sticking to his diet plan, and worked through his intense sessions. Note: about 600 to 1,000 calories get burned from your body doing this class. I went from an overweight into almost obese 225 pounds to a lean and ripped 190 pounds. I was an athlete in high school. I played Football, ran Indoor and Outdoor track. But at around 30 years of age, I had a better body with awesome athleticism (increased agility, stamina, endurance, power, etc.) now than when I was 16 years old. I was impressed to see his progression over a year of hard work! Back in the day this place started with house moms and female professionals over the age of 40. Now many people have caught on to how awesome this place is. You can now see people of all ages, sexes, etc. all here for one thing........to stay healthy! I can never go back to the gym. I'm too lazy. I have no motivation unless someone who knows their stuff and that's Tyler English and his elite staff! They teach you proper form, they understand your potential and teach you how to eat clean. Many of us Americans are misinformed about proper nutrition. Tyler English Fitness enlightens all. He also owns Athletic Revolution, a training camp for children 5 years old to adolescents.

They offer group, semi-private, private classes. Custom-tailored workouts for less than a personal trainer. They are way more knowledgeable than anyone you'll get at Big Lie/Cry or anything like that, and you grow to become friends with them! My trainer and I are always doing things outside of the gym, and we constantly do charity workout events to raise money for various causes. They offer a massage therapist, nutritionist, and training seminars. Also, they have Athletic Revolution which helps kids because it's a place to go after school, and gives them custom workouts that work on improving their abilities in sports or health in general. Best program, and when people want ideas to open their own gyms, they come here, then open a lesser version! (Can you tell I'm bias?)

This cozy studio off Farmington Ave. has everything you need for a great workout. This class was my first time doing pilates with the reformer machine, and Mary was sure to explain everything and help us perfect our form. She was so calming and knowledgeable; you can tell she is passionate about her job and her clients. The workout was much more difficult than I thought it would be-in a good way! Of course Mary makes all the moves look so easy, but I could definitely feel it in my legs and thighs the next morning. Even through a short, introductory session, I could see how regularly attending classes like this would help get that toned look. Drop-ins are $35, but there is a 3 for $20 deal going on now. Mary is also Barre certified, so I am looking forward to trying one of those classes, too!

A visit to The Posture Bar was the perfect way to start the weekend! When I saw the Yelp Fit Club…read morewas offering classes I jumped on the RSVP's immediately and Mary didn't disappoint. She had a sunny disposition and clearly loves teaching and is invested in the health of her clients. We started with learning all the basics of the reformer and perfecting our form. It was such a smooth machine and a heck of a good workout! We worked a lot on activating our core, inner & outer thighs and glutes. Under Mary's guidance we focused on breathing techniques to get the most out of each position. I had a great time in the sunny little studio which is located only a couple minutes off 84! So easy to find. I hope to take advantage of the deals she's offering in the near future. Gotta get toned up for the wedding! Thanks Mary!
