Although technically a chain, the Miss India franchise is small enough to maintain its pretty impressive (for what's essentially a fast food joint). Most of the staff seem to be Indian, if that's any indication of authenticity.
Essentially Miss India is a slightly more glamourised, more expensive version of West End cheap-eat institution Indian Kitchen. They offer the same range of surprisingly fresh and tasty curries from a bain marie, a selection of naan and other accompaniments (samosas, pakoras, tandoori chicken wings etc) and some impressively late opening hours for a Brisbane restaurant (open till 11pm 7 days).
I usually go for the '1 meat & 1 vege curry + rice' for $11.95, which makes it about $4 more than the similar Indian Kitchen offer, though I think Miss India's portions are a little bigger. They offer about 16 different lamb, chicken and vegetarian curries (putting them well ahead of IK), with one of my favourites being the 'chicken, eggplant & potato curry-. It's medium spiced, with juicy slow-cooked chicken pieces. The menu's recommendation to have it with raita ($2 for a small container, but you could pretty easily mix your own cucumber and yoghurt at home) is spot on.
