Vanessa assigned us to the most amazing tutor on the planet - Sofia. Sofia is fun, patient but most importantly, has taught our daughter to not be afraid of math - particularly when it gets more complex. Now that our daughter is in Gr 7, we have seen a definitive change in her attitude towards math - she no longer hates or fears math anymore. In fact, most recently, she informed us that she now understands the 'language of math' - music to our ears. Her most recent test mark: 95%. I have recommended The Math Guru to countless friends - you are truly the best math tutoring service in the city; we would not go anywhere else. Thanks so very much Sofia and Vanessa!

Mathnasium has been a wonderful experience for both my son and our family. He had convinced himself…read morethat he wasn't good at math, would avoid anything difficult in his homework and I was trying to relearn grade 9 math concepts after work at night to help him with his homework. We were all under a lot of stress - Mathnasium took all of that away. I was going to write that he is more confident now but, actually, he has confidence now where he didn't prior to coming to Mathnasium. He loved his time there and never once complained about going. Watching him organise his pages into his binder sent my jaw dropping to the ground - the same kid whose room - if allowed - would look like a perpetual tornado was going off. He loved the little prizes he could earn. What's the expression - proof is in the pudding? Well it certainly is here. My son got 85% on his final grade 9 math exam. 85%!!! He has never gotten a mark like that in math before. Almost better than the exam mark was how prepared he felt going into the exam and his comments afterwards - he had studied "too much" - i.e. he found the exam easy. That is all down to Mathnasium. Mathnasium has shown my son that "slow and steady' is the only way to go and we are trying to apply that philosophy to his other more challenging subjects. Mathnasium was an excellent investment and tremendous value for money. My stress was eliminated and my son is a confident kid who actually likes math now. He will be a client all the way through high school. My only regret is that I didn't start him much earlier. I am so grateful. Thank you for everything. - Wendy

He has a unique style of teaching (which is aligned with the Manhattan GMAT course) that focuses NOT on teaching content, but test taking strategy which is critical. With only 4 classes with Avi, I increased my percentile ranking to over 90th percentile in about 4 weeks. During the classes, he is patient, konwledgable and entertaining all at the same time. I highly recommend anyone taking the test to reach out to Avi - and with luck you'll find a slot with him as he's high in demand.

Gloria has been an attentive and loving care provider - she is lime a second mother to him and he absolutely loves his time there (I know this because he asks to go on weekends if we pass by). The 20+ years experience really show. Her play based activities encourage the kids to interact with each other while being given lots of learning and cognitive development time too. They mix in lots of arts and crafts, circle time, outdoor activities and even field trips that are done in conjunction with a local Parent Resources drop in centre (Riverdale Farm, strawberry picking, Centre Island, etc). Weather permitting the kids are out every day. The food is nutritious and adventurous too. It is without question that I would recommend Play 'n Stay to any prospective parents looking for quality home-based care. Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00-6:00, closed holidays and last two weeks of August and December.

Our daughter is excited to go there in the morning and, in the evening, she's had a full and adventurous day. Gloria's great about teaching about sharing and has even started potty training (our daughter is 18 months). The space is completely child oriented, full of stimulating toys and has a cozy sleeping area and kitchen down stairs. My understanding is that it has has been regularly inspected by the ministry and is up to code and that the primary reason why it is not licensed is there is no outdoor play area, which is simply not possible in their current location. However almost every day Gloria takes the kids to various parks, the library, and drop in centers in the neighborhood and regularly takes further excursions including the Riverdale Farm, science center, and strawberry picking. On these outings, Gloria's often meets up with the other Play 'n Stay located near Broadview and Gerrard, which is also owned by Gloria and Sultan and run by Gina. Since we've been there, Gloria has had 5 kids ranging from 9 months to 3 years. This has been a good age-mix for our daughter as it's like a big family where the bigger kids stimulate and interact with the younger ones. Gloria regularly does circle time with singing, activities, and art. She gives them nutritious hot breakfast and lunch and plenty of snacks with fruits and veggies. In the evenings she gives us an update on the naps, bowel movements, and eating and generally how they has gone. When we're concerned about our daughter--if she's feeling under the weather or otherwise--we can text and get prompt responses through out the day. We feel close with the families of the Play 'n Stay, and we feel fortunate to be part of this tight community. We regularly meet them at the parks and farmers markets in the evenings or on the weekends and we communicate over email about important issues relating to raising our kids. It's hard to describe how reassuring it is to know how much love and care Gloria has for our our daughter and the rest of the kids at Play 'n Stay. She and Sultan work incredibly hard to provide a truly wonderful environment and big extended family for our daughter.
