We did have a substitute instructor and one of our classes, and while he wasn't bad, I certainly noticed the difference in terms of my ability to understand and absorb the material. For those of you who are more price sensitive: I was a little skeptical about paying anything for a GMAT course, let alone a premium for Veritas, but it's one of the best decisions I made in the MBA process. Sign up and they FedEx you a huge volume of print materials for the course, give you access to online diagnostic tests as well as more GMAT practice tests than you'll ever use (I think i used 3 of about 15). It's all a great way to stay motivated and on track. I began the course in May and by July I had taken the GMAT and scored in the 96th percentile, all while working a more-than-full-time job. He has a unique style of teaching (which is aligned with the Manhattan GMAT course) that focuses NOT on teaching content, but test taking strategy which is critical. With only 4 classes with Avi, I increased my percentile ranking to over 90th percentile in about 4 weeks. During the classes, he is patient, konwledgable and entertaining all at the same time. They give you lots of bonus reference materials that would cost a lot elsewhere, even if you are able to find them. My child has progressed so much and is now confident in speaking French in class, understanding spoken French, and reading and writing. There's always coffee and snacks while I wait for my child's lesson to be over. I'm always invited to sit in and watch the lesson. I've learned a great deal too! One of the teachers is an experienced, certified Ontario French teacher (which you don't see even in private and most Montessori schools) and the other tutor charges less as she's also bilingual but she's young (more suitable for homework help or younger children).
