I was a patient of Misleh's for 35 years. He was great. Then. I was such a fan that I recommended him to so many. Now I have found that the work he has done in the last 15 years does not cut it!!! Don't know what he was and is still going through but his work is not good, in fact it is worse. I have had numerous issues that I should not be having. Not just time and pain but now missing teeth and a nice big bill to go along with his shottywork. My recommendation is find another dentist read more

James Misla and all his staff are the only dentists that I have ever looked forward to going to. They make you feel like family

Great dentist, they don't try to upsell you and do things you don't need. Free parking, the time goes quick listening to Dr. Misla's stories. read more

So our work just got dental insurance and I had been going to this other dentist in Bonita, but decided to try this guy as he was in our Group-link network and way closer to work. When I got there, I had to fill out a few forms, you know , the usual. The tiny Asian lady (I forgot her name) took some x-rays and she was awesome. She was cracking jokes the whole time and trying to do it really fast so I wasn't too uncomfortable with those awkward plastic things in my mouth for too long. She was also the one that cleaned my teeth later after the Dr's exam, and she did a fabulous job. Then I met Dr. Misla. First impressions: he is a rather big guy, about 40-50 yrs old, and hilarious. The whole time he examined my teeth with the pokey thingy he was telling me stories about himself, cracking jokes, and distracting me, which is awesome cause I hate the dentist. It was a bit TMI when he started talking about his dating life, but at least his humor was self deprecating and took my mind off of the sharp objects in my mouth. The facility was very clean, they had the latest technology, and I got a free tooth whitening for recommending another one of my coworkers, which is a $350 value. So all in all it was a great checkup, and I will continue to go here for my dental needs. read more

First, I'd just like to say that while Mr. Misla is a nice guy, he talked way too much and focused way too little on my teeth and my treatment options. I asked about pricing for different treatments under the available provider plans and I was instructed by Mr. Misla to switch to a PPO plan because it would be "cheaper", even though no one in the office seemed to have any real knowledge of the plans. When I switched and found out the prices, there were plenty of things that were cheaper under the HMO that I could have done before I switched. When I addressed this with him, without notifying me he sent a letter to my provider to drop me as a patient. Not only that, but they put my email on their mailing list without asking so I get these obnoxious newsletters. Overall this has been a nightmare and I am very disappointed with the level of care and knowledge regarding providers, you should at least know a bit when you deal with the providers every day. read more

I think when it comes to rating a dentist 5 stars, you have to remember that everything is relative. Meaning, my experience at Dr. Misla's office was certainly not on the level of that of a few 5 star restaurants but as long as you have this basic understanding, then I think that James Misla is probably the best dentist I've ever been to - especially given the fact that I see him through my HMO. A short version of my story goes like this: I saw several dentists because I haven't been in years, all of which told me I needed a deep cleaning but were going to charge me over $600. After realizing this was going to cost me a pretty penny and not knowing any better, I decided to do some research to make sure that if I was spending this much, I at least was going to make sure it was done by the best. Naturally, I came to Yelp, found Dr. Misla and not only did he charge HALF of the other dentists but after going through the work, I couldn't be happier. He did one half of my mouth one Wednesday, no pain with anesthetics and the next week, to move things along quicker, I decided no pain killing at all and still no pain. He's very straightforward with what's needed to solve any problems you have, his pricing is reasonable, he's very thorough and gentle and he's very friendly (and has corny humor which helps get you through everything a bit easier and quicker). I could go on about reason why he's great especially compared to other dentists - and feel free to message me if you want more details - but you've made a mistake if you use another dentist, I'm telling you...also his overall staff is extremely friendly and helpful, all around a great dental experience from start to finish. read more

Dr Misla: I would rate him as among the best dentist I have ever visited. I am a sissy when it comes to going to the dentist and he had to do several crowns and other work. It was pain free and the crowns look really good. His whole office made me feel comfortable. His prices are very good and he will set you up with a payment plan if you need one. He is a very caring man and will help you. read more

Sure, he's a talker. Sure, his jokes can be corny and sometimes...unexpected. But he's a good guy and his work is excellent! I've had to have emergency work done by other dentists when I was out of town and they always remark about how well my crown is. I hate going to the dentist. Nothing will ever change that. But Dr. Misla makes it a tolerable evil. His office is clean and modern and his staff is friendly. I guess if I had to find a negative, it's that his office is an Internet/cellular dead zone. read more

Who likes the dentist? Nobody. Well, this guy might change your mind. After a horrible experience, I walked in apprehensive and just unhappy about all dental offices. The staff here made me feel so good. Very friendly. Dr. Misla is such a kind hearted, caring and wonderful person. He is an incredible dentist that cuts no corners, does not rush you and actually is entertaining with his conversations. Seriously the best cleaning I have ever had in my life. Adore this dentist, never thought I could actually "like" one. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Misla. I don't have the best teeth in the world and have needed a number of fillings, crowns, a bridge, etc. Dr. Misla's work has always been of the best quality. He is very thorough and knowledgeable. He patiently discusses any issues and always recommends what is best for your overall dental health. But for me, the thing that separates Dr. Misla from other dentists I have used is his caring attitude. He is sensitive to his patients' concerns, whether they are emotional (i.e they are scared of the procedure) or financial. If the office is closed, Dr. Misla provides his cell phone number for emergencies. On more than one occasion, he has come in when the office was closed to deal with a problem for me. And he always was gracious and pleasant, never once making me feel like I was inconveniencing him. Dr. Misla very nice person and a very good dentist. read more

Very happy with Dr Misla and his staff. They got me in next day 1st thing because I was having pain. He's very sweet and entertaining. Seriously my first ENJOYABLE dental appointment! Their office is open and airy, very relaxing! read more

I've been to Dr. Misla's office twice now, and the staff there is very friendly and helpful. I changed insurance providers between my two visits, and one of the assistants, Barb, made sure to review my new insurance plan for the co-pay, differences in coverage, etc. and provided me with that information before I had my work done. Dr. Misla is quite the character, who is constantly cracking jokes and telling crazy stories throughout the visit. He is very personable and lighthearted! Unlike other dentists I've been too, Dr. Misla's office doesn't try to force extra services on you during your visit. They may recommend a course of treatment, but you never feel like someone is trying to dupe you into treatments you don't want or need, just to make more money. I would highly recommend this office! read more

this guy talks too much about nothing and awkward things on top of that. stopped going to him after his assistant charged me $200.00 for something that my plan covered. then a short time later i had to have the dental work redone because it was not done correctly. read more

Corny jokes but nice, reliable, friendly staff, nice office, doesn't try to sell you fake stuff, doesn't hurt you... good experience.

Takes awhile to get worked on. He has some super cheesy jokes and can sometimes be inappropriate however he does seem to do a pretty good job. read more

Very inappropriate! Been going to this dude since I was 4, and he is now the most disturbing dentist I've ever been to ever since he got divorced. THEN accused me of lying about scheduling an appointment to have my tooth extracted from a different office. And also accused me of lying about my pain cause I could still smile while I was in pain. Do not go here. read more

I have been going to this dentist for a while now but am finally taking the time to seek out a new dentist. I have never enjoyed seeing James Misla because he takes WAY too much time to do a basic cleaning. This is because he talks SO much that he actually stops cleaning your teeth to chat at you. Most dentists will chat but they do so while they are cleaning your teeth. James actually pauses cleaning to try to talk to you about sometimes some awkward personal things (breaking up with his girlfriend, weird chemistry with his girlfriend's sister, etc.) and he actually make me feel a little uncomfortable. The breaking point is that I had an appointment scheduled about a month ago and his office called and asked me to reschedule. I was fine with this, things happen, we're all human, but then 2 days before my appointment this week they call me to reschedule again. It's something I'd deal with for a dentist I really like, but in this case, it's not worth the wait and hassle. read more

Dr, Misla is a caring professional. I have recently moved but I saw him as a patient as did both my sons for over 15 years. His staff is very caring and cheerful as well. As a patient I always felt in good hands with my dentist. He cares about you and if you have an emergency he always get you the help you need asap. As others say he has a sense of humor and that is a good thing. He encourages good dental hygiene for good health. Dr. Misla also does wonderful work for charity for those who might not otherwise get the help they need. His charges are fair and upfront and if you have a question about heath or pricing he and his office will give you the answers you need in advance. Finding a dentist you trust is indeed important . I am very happy to recommend Dr. Misla with a five star rating. read more

I was referred to Dr. Misla a few years ago by a friend who insisted I would be happy with this dentist, and indeed he was right. James Misla and his office staff always make me feel very welcome, and I never feel rushed. He listens. He explains the issues, my treatment choices, and the procedures. He promotes good preventative habits regularly and without getting on my case. He told me where to get the toothbrush he recommended for the lowest price, and per my request, he even found me a coupon. He answers all my questions on the spot, and his answers make sense. It seems to me he has extensive knowledge about dentistry. He has a gentle touch and has never caused me unnecessary pain. He gets the job done right the first time. His confident and reassuring demeanor along with the distracting, entertaining, funny and silly stories completely puts me at ease. I hear him with the other patients too. He knows how to make people feel comfortable. When I think of going to the dentist, honestly, I think of laughing, not pain. He has great people skills. Here is a dentist who makes patient comfort and happiness his top priority. And ladies, he is single! read more

I just want to say that Dr. Misla is THE BEST dentist I have ever had! He is the first dentist I've found since moving to California that doesn't tell me I have 5 cavities and need "deep cleaning" all for hundreds and hundreds of dollars. He is very honest and thorough and always has great stories to distract you ;). His whole office staff is great too, I've never had to wait more than 2 minutes getting in. I will never go anywhere else! read more

Dr. Misla was very kind, and took the time to completely examine my teeth. His office was not crowded, and I did not feel rushed like I did when going to smile care. His staff was pleasant. I made an appointment quickly and easily. read more

Nice guy but he did not finish my dental work , too quick to want to pull tooth without exploring other options.

My son and I have been visiting Dr. Misla for years and we have great experience. He and his stuff are very nice to us and always trying to do the best for their patients. Recently I was scheduled for root canal and I didn't have insurance. They tried their best to give me discounts to make it more affordable for me. When Dr. Misla opened the tooth it turned out I didn't need the root canal and they were so happy to save me money. Do not pass on this great dentist! read more

My children and I really like Dr. Misla a lot. Not only is he a good dentist but his office staff is great. I had to have surgery after a cleaning, and the staff called me to see how it went! My children didn't like going to the dentist, but they go as directed now. I like his jokes, and he is a really good listener. He has got my dental for life. read more

Been a few more times since my initial review and every time is just as good !! Personally I find Dr. M to be hilarious and really down to earth. He's fun to shoot the sh*t with !! I am writing this second review for Dr. James Misla as for some reason my original was listed undered filtered. My main point is that he is the best Dentist I have been to since childhood, which was a long time ago.He makes you feel at ease and provides excellent care. My entire family now go to him, and I personally feel he deserves a 5* rating. That goes for his office staff as well, always nice and helpful. read more

I've been going to Dr. Misla for years and he really takes the uneasiness out of going to the dentist. He is very honest, professional and friendly. I would highly recommend him for anyone looking for a caring, competent dentist. If you hate going to the dentist, go see Dr. Misla - he will put you at ease and take good care of you! read more

I was not one that ever enjoyed going to the dentist, who does really, but Dr. Misla and his staff changed all that. He from the start made me feel very comfortable and he is a super great dentist. He has a sense of humor, and is not just your regular all about money type dentist. I have several family members going to him now, and will send anyone I can to him. He deserves at least 5***** and then some. I would say he is always appropriate and I find his jokes honest, funny, and refreshing. He is who he is, and for me that is the best dentist I have been to. read more

My first impression of this dentist is excellent. The office is older but they have a homey feel to them with a fish tank and a little pet frog. As soon as I walked in the door not only was I greeted with smiles but genuine "nice to meet you," with a hand shake from not just lady behind the desk but Dr. Misla himself, before ever being called back to look at my teeth. He actually walked out and greeted me when I arrived. His staff was so caring and understanding of my toddler having to attend the appointment with me it was so refreshing. The most important was that he is honest and trustworthy. I came to this dentist as a last resort because I could tell my previous dentist was trying to squeeze me for every single dollar, telling me I needed thousands of dollars of unnecessary work. I read Dr. Misla's reviews and thought, man if all this guy has going against him is he talks too much, SIGN ME UP. Boy am I glad I called him. He agreed with me that I didn't need the laundry list of work the previous dentist had cooked up and we set up a much more reasonable plan of attack. I have not actually had dental work done yet, but I have no doubt that I will be 100 percent satisfied. I am glad I have finally found a genuine dentist who is honest, trustworthy, and pleasant to be around. Great job guys! read more
