I came in during the middle of the class and one of the professors greeted me warmly and encouraged me to get in on the class! I was really impressed with the class and the great instruction. In a small town, they really created a strong atmosphere for learning and community. The instructors were very clear on the details and went around and made sure we were executing them correctly, which is definitely not always easy to do with a large class. Even their fundamental classes had great details that a seasoned grappler can benefit from! Lastly, the sparring was great. People were friendly, competent, and competitive! In my rolls, I felt safe with my training partners and didn't feel anyone was trying to win at all costs. I highly recommend this place for all people and will be back if I'm ever in the area.

After moving to Warren, PA for work in January, I began my search for a place to train. Fortunately, about 30 minutes north of me in Jamestown, NY, I found Kinetix Combat Sports & Fitness. Kinetix offers BJJ and Muay Thai for both adults and youth - as well as a Women's Kickboxing class. For Jiu Jitsu - all of the instructors have their Black or Brown belts through the BJJ Revolution Team under Julio "Foca" Fernandez. For Muay Thai - all instructors are certified through the Thai Boxing Association of USA. For a beginner like myself - the smaller class sizes are a huge advantage, as I am able to gain more personal feedback and instruction during regular classes. Every partner or instructor I have ever rolled with or drilled with has been humble and patient with me as I try to improve my skills. After a few classes and getting to know the familiar faces, Kinetix starts to feel like family. Get in touch with Kinetix, come in for a class, and see what you've been missing out on. See you on the mat.

Came in from out of town for the holidays and wanted to continue training in BJJ while I was home…read more I went here with 2 of my friends who had never done BJJ who wanted to try it out. The facility is very spacious. There's a main training area and then another smaller room with mats and workout equipment for other classes or free rolling. The place is also extremely clean and the vibe is great. If you've been to a martial arts academy with a bad vibe you will know what I mean, but this place is nothing but positive. The woman at the front desk was very helpful and got us situated with a 10 day trial and my friends with rental gi's. We were then greeted by the head coach John Ingallina who is the embodiment of a professional. He is extremely welcoming, kind, professional, and explained the whole Gracie Combatives system to us. During class he was great at explaining the techniques being taught, and made good work of going to each person and ensuring they did it right. As an out of towner I was completely welcomed by the staff and other class members. I 100% would recommend this, and have done so to my 2 friends who I am very close to.

I come from an immigration/security/law enforcement background and have lots of training in use of force as well as some martial arts. Before joining this gym I thought I had nothing to learn. Even though it is a group class Raymond makes sure he spends time with each student working on his or her skillset. I can't believe this place has any positive reviews. The only reason I'm posting this negative…read morereview is in hopes that the only will fix these issues. Here's a brief list of why this place isn't great: 1. It's dirty. The ceiling fans are caked full of dust. Nothing like those blowing on you while you're breathing heavy from a workout.  2. Equipment is awful and old. Aside from leather coverings on benches and machines being ripped (and occasionally patched with duct tape or simply covered with a microfiber towel), half of the machines pose a safety hazard. Cables are frayed, weights are cracked, and things are just old. And if something is broken? No problem, they just put an 'Out of Order' sign on it. No fixing here! Hoping this place has good insurance because it's only a matter of time until someone gets seriously injured.  3. They charge the same as LA Fitness, and LA Fitness has brand new facilities, brand new equipment, locker rooms, showers, and more. Even Planet Fitness blows this place out of the water for a fraction of the cost. 4. Want to watch TV while on a treadmill? Nope. There are old TV's on the wall, but the owner cancelled cable. I guess starring at the black screen is good focus. 5. Extra equipment in the basement? Sweet. Smells like mold and feels like you're infecting your lungs while down there? Double sweet. So why do people go here? Probably because they have to. It's the only decent sized gym in LeRoy. There IS a nice Crossfit room here, but it's usually occupied by Crossfit classes, so good luck getting in there to use the upgraded equipment as a regular gym member. The only positive this place has going for it is the 24/7 access that you get. You can literally go anytime, any day. So good job there.  To the owner: if you do one thing, invest in equipment. The safety hazard should be your greatest concern here. If you don't want to invest back into the business, sell it.
