Not the best experience, honestly. My sister used this beauty bar for her wedding yesterday for her entire bridal party. All the ladies in the bridal party used them for hair, and most used them for make-up as well. Our experience was... okay. The makeup was absolutely beautiful. No faults there whatsoever. Our earliest appointment started at 8AM for a 6PM wedding and the makeup held on all day with no flaws. The primary makeup artist they had that day was very nice. The hair though... that was another story and the list of little things that went wrong is long. My sister had picked out a relatively easy low bun/up-do sort of situation for everyone. Everyone's came out very different. Mine in particular was SO different (everyone else's was twisted up and parted on the side, mine was just pulled straight back with no detail in the front) that my mother ended up pulling the entire thing out and redoing it when we got home. My hair was the longest and thickest of the party, but the least amount of time was spent on my hair... probably 20 minutes or so. They also burned my ear with the curling iron and I had to say "OW" a good 3/4 times before she heard me and took it off. They have a sign up saying gratuity will be added for charges over $100... they added automatic gratuity to my bun for a total of $90. One of my sister's came in with damp hair and had to go home to dry it. She had figured since they do hair they would have a blow dryer on site, but they don't apparently? Another girl's hair completely fell out around noon and she needed to go to another salon entirely to get it put back up. When my mom showed the hairstyle she wanted, the hairdresser told her it was more complicated than my sister's (the bride) and she wouldn't do it. They ended up doing something completely different on her entirely (though it was very pretty... just not even close to what she wanted). My 4-year-old niece came in to have her floral crown put in. They curled her hair (a short bob) and pulled up two pieces from the sides into pins, pinned on the crown... maybe 10 minutes and it was $60. When the brides MIL canceled her makeup appointment for later in the afternoon (one she had called to make herself), they tried to get the bride to pay for it without warning or any written policy available. Overall, not the best experience. The prices were high. The service had ups, but mostly downs. They didn't offer water or anything like that to anyone. I guess I just expect more out of a place that charges what they charge. I received much better service and better prices at The Green Tangerine in Canton for my own wedding. I would not use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone. Update: Since leaving this review, the owner of the shop attacked me on her Facebook page in response. She told me to "get a life" and that I "shouldn't be allowed to write this" and that she "knew she was being rude and didn't care" among other things. She blamed the bride, her mother, and the rest of the party and took 0 responsibility calling this review slander. She also went as far as to block anyone she could find related to the wedding so that they could not leave any more reviews on Facebook or contact her in any way. I have filed a chargeback with my credit card company as I cannot request a refund due to being blocked. Good luck to this company... read more

Never have I been so upset with a business's unprofessional behavior. All of our correspondence throughout the past year have been through FB messenger or in person. About 3 weeks ago I reached out to touch base and tell her that I would be doing my hair half up and down rather than the elaborate side style I did nearly a year ago. And sent her pic of my makeup ideas. At this time her whole attitude changed. She became very rude. She told me not to contact her unless via phone only thurs-sun. So I did. I tried to call her and her phone went straight to voicemail. Finally got in touch with her I told her that as a wedding gift my friend would be doing my bridesmaids makeup and would like to cancel if it wasn't too late. SHE FLIPPED OUT. She told me that I can do whatever I want but would have to pay 25% of each girl whether I did it or not. I tried to calm her and tell her that if it was an issue I would just have them do It, it's not a problem however on her website it stated that you had 4 days to cancel a service... so plenty of notification was being given. With reluctance she agreed. Her whole tone had now changed. I was then notified hair services would start at 9am. I explained to her, once again, that Saturday we had camp activities planned all day and that is specifically why I booked her for later. She once again was short and rude and told me that she would be there at 930 to start the girls hair at 10 am and mine at 1pm and would leave at precisely 2pm because she had booked another wedding party after me, she would just leave she didn't care. Please keep in mind that I had already paid her $315. So at this point I was stuck. She then informs me that she ALSO charges $4 per mile to travel on top of the extra $10 per service. I told her that this was the first I had heard of this and she insisted it was not. Days later she posts on Facebook that she was selling her business to be a stay at home mom. I tried to comment nicely to turn her mood around. My wedding was a weekend camp wedding with minimal cell service. I tried to call the friday before my wedding. NO answer I messaged her and told her that I was heading to the camp and gave her the address and Wi-Fi password. Saturday am my girls were 15 mins early (I was told she locked up and closed shop on another bride and wedding party for being late). She was there with her 2nd girl and at that time was complaining instantly. She told my first 2 girls she had to leave bc she had no way to get paid without Wi-Fi. My sister told her they all had cash. So she stopped her complaints for a moment. I had my sister and cousin go 1st because their hair holds curl easily. My family told them not to over spray. My sister looked like helmet head. She told her she wasn't crazy about her hair and asked for it to be changed she was told no and that she owed $90 Not told that was $75 with gratuity already added. So my sister gave $120... and shockingly was never corrected. My cousin was changed $92 and gave $95. Also not corrected. They came back to camp so angry. They went on to say how the business owner kept making ridiculing remarks saying how ridiculous it was we were doing camp activites.. at my camp wedding... crazy I know! My sister was yelled at for having moist hair. She explained that she is a hairdresser and blew out her hair but the humidity was making everything moist. The hairdresser agreed. When I arrived my bridesmaids looked so annoyed and upset. She looked right at me and said "your hair is wet" I said "No, I washed and dried it but did just do high ropes and rock climbing" she then started to complain that it wouldn't come out good if at all. I let her finish. It was extremely frizzy. My make up was airbrush that didn't even cover blemishes. I asked to shape my eyebrows I was told they are fine. I asked her to just dull down this one area on my cheek that she had overdone in finishing powder. She said she couldnt. I asked her if it doesn't dull down and want it a little less noticeable what should I do... She stated " go to the sink, wash your face, and start over!" I WAS DONE WITH HER RUDENESS. I asked again about the up charge on travel. I was told again it is what it is. As it stood my hair was supposed to be $85, makeup $55, lashes $20 And new mystery travel fee was $72 equaling $264 she would owe me $51. When I asked he about it... She said I didn't know you would have extensions... so I'm charging you the extra for that. Conveniently equaling to the $51 she owed me.. to curl extensions! I returned to camp defeated and in tears. My girls spent an hour redoing my hair and makeup after I spent $315! I messaged her today to ask for a refund OF ONLY the $123 extra dollars she charged me. This woman canceled an entire wedding party appointment, stating the appointments were scheduled for earlier than the time she actually stated. Mirror Mirror in Torrington has now ruined a bride's special day. Mirror Mirror charged the bride's credit card without doing any work! How you call yourself a makeup artist by defrauding people and ignoring their phone calls, canceling three hour appointment gaps and sending text messages to the bride (yes, folks - she was listening to our conversation outside of her business door at our schedules appointment time and then blocked the bride's number!!) DO NOT USE THIS CRAPPY PLACE!!!!!!!! We will be seeking legal council. read more

I had a really rough experience with this company, but I think that the aftermath of the appointment is what upset me the most. We had written a review that the business owner didn't like and she literally flipped out. She told my sister that she needed to get a life and was clueless, said that my sister threw a "tantrum" about hair dryers (which wasn't true. she literally just left to dry her hair and came back.), she said she knew she was being rude but didn't care, she threw the bride, her sisters, her mother and bridesmaids under the bus and tried to blame them for everything that went wrong during the appointment....just not a way a business owner should react or speak to customers-hence the low review. Had the owner said "let me private message you so we can figure out what we can do better..." f...fine. This shouldn't have gotten this fair out of hand but as a customer, I really am upset. Be careful when using this business and get everything the company says in writing. The business doesn't follow their own policies that are written in the salon. read more
