I almost don't want to write this review and potentially increase the customer numbers beyond what the shop can physically handle but Mirfield Miniatures is such a great place for anyone into Warhammer that like me have a very tight budget. Mark who runs the shop as an extension of Creative Arts Hub is such a friendly guy who will go out of his way to help you find what you are looking for and I don't think anyone can truly show how appreciated he is for what he does. With the ethos of "pocket money prices" so that kids can get into the hobby in an affordable way all second hand stock regardless of weather it is new in box is heavily discounted, even really nicely painted and rare items which unfortunately does mean he gets some scalpers from time to time listing stuff on eBay for profit within minutes of walking out of the door and you tend to feel bad for him when that happens as he knows full well if he wanted to he could get the silly prices some items fetch but he purposefully keeps his prices low for kids and people with a limited budget. Its always worth following on Facebook as he does a preview of stock that he will put out ready for Saturday morning and can often have a large queue forming outside (people often queue up for a couple hours before opening *ahem me*). There is also the usual range of Games Workshop kits available at I think 20% off retail price or there abouts and if he doesn't have a particular item in stock he will order it for you and take pre-orders.
Honestly there is no where else I buy Warhammer items from even when going for just a general look I never leave empty handed and I really do recommend a visit, there is also gaming tables for hire which one day I will play a game when I eventually get my head around the rules but for now I'm quite happy painting the models. Unfortunately there is currently there is no step free access, something which Mark does feel saddened about and is trying to raise funds to put in some sort of stair lift system. If like me you're not too keen on crowds in small spaces I would recommend going over on a Wednesday as this is usually the queitest day of the week. read more
