Stumbled here on a Sunday afternoon after finding Tang's (to be reviewed soon) was closed until dinner hours. Quick summary: Food: Thai - 4 out of 5 for authenticity and flavor. English breakfasts and chippy meet the standard and is offered to cater to the less adventurous. Of the 4 dishes we tried, the Pad Thai stood out as the dish of the day, made with the right balance of tamarind and garlic; we ordered two portions to start and an additional third after my family devoured the first two. Springs rolls were crunchy, even with the chili sauce it was served with. Ambiance: Simple diner style. Ask to prop the door open for ventilation. Although I don't mind, coriander, garlic and curry can be sometimes overwhelming. This place does not have a liquor license, but it is BYOB so hop on two doors down and pick up a Hoegarden Heff to tame the spice. Customer Service: A bit of a language barrier, so keep your special orders to yourself. I requested to add beef to a particular menu choice and ended up with a completely separate beef dish. Price is fair - for a family of six we all left very satisfied for a mere 40 quid.

Guo Has only just opened so its early days yet. The style of the restaurant is minimalist - bare…read morewhite walls and dark wood tables and benches. It doesn't scream upmarket but is modern, comfortable and was certainly nice and warm on a chilly autumn day. The menu isn't extensive and by the looks of it is trying to emulate that of Wagamama with a range of noodle, rice and soup noodle dishes. Unfortunately the menu doesn't have the variety of Wagamama and I think could do with a little more excitement. Having said our party of three chose stir fried chicken & noodles (udon only - no choice of ramen), spicy beef noodle (also udon) and a chicken noodle soup (choice of udon or ramen). The portion sizes were decent. The person having the spicy beef noodles was very impressed. My stir fried chicken was ok bit would have benefitted from the option of added spice. The noodle soup was less than impressive. It lacked seasoning and tasted rather earthy. Service was friendly and reasonably efficient. On a Friday lunchtime there was only one chef and one waitress. Lee were first in and therefore our good arrived in good time. As it got busier a request for a top up of hot water for our tea was forgotten but we had pretty much finished by then and weren't that bothered. I have seen more than one waitress there on an evening so I think as it's not a big place they would easily cope with a busy night. Overall I liked the place and I hope it does well. One thing I feel needs to change are the prices. They are way too high for what the place is. My stir fired chicken noodles were the best part of £9. That is a) pricey for a lunch dish and b) very pricey for a plate of noodles. Although tasty they were not nine pounds tasty! There was a single lunchtime special which was stir fried prawns and noodles for £5.99 which is much more acceptable price. But that was the only special and not much use if you were a veggie or not into seafood. I think in general Guo need to knock off £2-£2.50 off their current prices to make them more palatable. £8-9 is knocking on the door of Wagamama. But where Wagamama exudes style, quality and an exciting menu Guo does not quite match it. The spartan, bare bones decor and and the rather limited menu of Guo hints more at a (over priced) budget outfit. Guo needs to either up the menu range or knock some money off their prices if they are to become a popular and established business in Dorking. I really hope they go onto great things as I think theirs is a good concept. I would definitely recommend trying Guo and make your own mind up.

Very well laid out and looks fairly new too. Lots of statues wood carvings etc. Even a few ponds and a mini bridge. The lighting level is low and really sets the scene. The pay one price and eat what you like is better than most in so much there is a large choice and the food is delivered to your table The food taste was great and although the food didn't always come out at the same time it was worth it The waiters try to double up portions and are quite strict what they will or will not do and at times can be quite rude. In fact they are a riot and very rude Drinks are extra. Good selection We ate as a large family group on a Sunday lunch time It was a good Resteraunt as far as the decor and food choice and quality was concerned. The big down side was the staff. Abrupt. No interpersonal skills. No interaction. My recommendation would be either change the staff or go self serve I wouldn't return

When we go out to eat we normally argue over Indian or Chinese food so this was perfect as it has both!! Situated above the new Buddha Bar which used to be Natraj indian Restuarant, in the Beford place area. The decor inside is very modern and upmarket and looks really nice, it has a nice atmosphere and the service is good. On the two occasions we have been be have opted for the buffet which is half indian and half chinese. On both occasions the food has been wondeful. Both sets of food have obviously been cooked by someone who knows what they are doing and there is a good range. Chinese wise i remember there being - Steamed rice, fried rice, chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, beef in black bean sauce, pekinf duck, another main dish, spring rolls, prawn toasts, prawn crackers and a few other bits. Indian - Pilau rice, onion bahji, pakoras, naan bread, korma, tikka, another hotter curry, popadoms and then salad. The only downside to this is the expensive price which was around £17.00. I know it is a mixed buffet but for southampton this is a bit high. However i think this will go down as there were not many people in there. Drinks were also not cheap. Worth a go if you have the cash tho!

Our bill came to under £65 for 4 people including drinks and this is well below what you would expect to pay for a nice food and venue. worth a visit - we'll definately book next time
