My husband found Deyoung online and he was local so he decided to hire him. Kevin has a full-time…read morejob with Purdue University so he said he would be able to get the work done after work and on weekends. We needed two bathrooms tore out and plumbed before we moved in on July 15, 2022. This included two showers, toilets and vanities. On June 27th we had the HVAC people start their work and we told Kevin he could start that day too since HVAC was basically just strategizing because it is an old house. Kevin ripped out the showers in a couple hours and then never showed up for the next couple weeks. Every time we contacted him there was some excuse. He blamed parts on his supplier so we had mostly moved in and had no way to shower for work. I had to spend 3 weeks driving elsewhere to shower which was super fun to say the least. Luckily the lovely people who were doing the tile were able to finish the plumbing and get our bathrooms done. We fired him on July 24th and told him we would not be paying him for any items not already delivered and we would need an itemized bill and a cashier's check or cash back on the $5000 deposit. On August 9th we sent them a reminder that we still had not received anything. On August 26th they said they were going to mail us a check and bill the next day. On September 9th I received a bill dated 8/29, a cashier's check dated 9/6, and an envelope dated 9/7. The invoice included a $250 restocking fee for two regular toilets. The parts he claimed were backordered should not have been included because they were supposedly never received by the supplier. I called and asked about the restocking fee being so high and he got very defensive. He said he wasn't going to give me any paperwork from his supplier because it had private account information. I said I didn't want his private info and that I just wanted the receipts for what he bought so I could ask the supplier about their policies. He was reluctant to give me the name of the supplier like it was a big secret so I couldn't catch him in his lies. He showed up randomly to my house and would tinker here and there and never do any real work and somehow racked up 21 hours of "work" so he could charge us $1890 in labor. Kevin probably charged us for labor when he showed up and did no bathroom work but happily showed my husband pictures of a birdbath he made out of a pedestal sink. I wouldn't put it past him. He is being evasive and vindictive and if he didn't have anything to hide he would supply me with the receipts. He is overcommitted to other jobs because the same day he was showing the pictures he had to go and help a different client so we were really feeling like our job wasn't important because he had weeks to get it done and gave us every excuse in the book. WOULD NOT ADVISE USING KEVIN. HE WILL LIE AND OVERCHARGE.

I called to verify they were running late and had to leave a message and they never called me back. This was not the first time I received poor service but this will be the last! In the past they installed our furnace and never replaced the sheet metal that goes above the furnace where the furnace filter inserts. Deyoung's Plumbing and Heating tried to match up our new furnace to the sheet metal causing the furnace filter slot to bend making removing and replacing our furnace filters very difficult to do. A short time after having our new furnace Installed we started hearing a loud noise. When Deyoung's came to service our furnace, they asked my husband, Is that it, that's nothing and left. So after Deyoung's didn't show up or call yesterday, I contacted Krooswyk's Heating and Plumbing in DeMotte today and they were at my house within hours. They even called to see if they could arrive early and DID! The Krooswyk's service professional even mentioned how messed up our sheet metal looked above our furnace. I highly recommend Krooswyk's and warn all other customers to avoid Deyoung's Plumbing and Heating in Rennselaer.

Autumn demolished the house, left the ground uneven, covered in broken glass, nails, wire, deep holes. I can't mow the area. in the process of demonizing old house they seriously damaged my well pit, but didn't tell me, even after they ran water line to new build site. later found out that the licensed electrician "did what Billtold me to do" and wired the well pump up so wrong that it could have burned out the new well pump. that was fixed. the furnace and hot water heater are gas, and had to be converted to LP. that wasn't done, therefore from November through January my furnace spewed almost 2000.00 worth of LP into the atmosphere. when I complained to the LP company about the amount of LP being used they told that was normal in a house my size. i basically said bulls$&@, I contacted Autumn Builders, an HVAC Company, none could find the problem. the original installer came and noticed several things. the conversion to LP had not been done. The furnace and hot water heater were all sooted up not wanting to work. The contractor yelled at me because I "never told him appliances would need converted to LP" the original bid has the LP conversion on it. also, I emailed him after LP company came out to set the tank, in the email I asked if the furnace and water heater had been converted. there are so many other things. my front porch floor is concrete. after one winter it is flaking away. I was told by another contractor that it was mixed poorly. when the porch was poured they splattered cement all over the siding window and door, it will not come off. I would not recommend this contractor to a person I detested. i love my home but no thanks to Autumn Builders
