I will die on this hill if my nail tech Naly ever retires. I follow her everywhere she goes because she is truly the best there is! She used to work for a different establishment and she messaged me telling me she was switching to Mirage Nails. Mirage Nails is 10 minutes further for me, but I will make the trip just for her! The first time I came here was for my birthday nails! As every other girl, they want their birthday nails to be the best possible. I did tips, My Vampire is Buff with chrome powder on top. The vanilla clean girl TikTok trend (basically where I get all my nail inspo) These nails were so beautiful, even my mom complimented them! Both the times I've been she only had the color in gel. She's so sweet, she'll even look for the color herself, while I sit! She puts dip powder first and coats the nail with gel, which makes them stay on that much longer. Honestly, the feeling of your hair getting caught in your nails has never been a problem with Naly! I always feel looking my best after my getting my nails done with her. The salon itself is very clean and well lit. It's relatively small with only a few chairs for pedicure and manicures and I honestly would not be able to find it or even know about it if it wasn't for her. They have a wide array of colors ranging from regular, gel, dip! Even chrome powders which is all the rave right now. After my visit two times, I can guarantee whatever style or color I want the salon will definitely have. read more

The salon is set up to manage clients with Covid standards. They honored our appointment as we set up two manicure pedicure appointments to be had at the same time. While I would like to say that I got a very nice manicure and pedicure it was quite costly. I got a standard manicure and pedicure for $52. I observed the owner making it very difficult for an African-American gay man to keep his appointment. He was instructed to stay in his car and when he indicated that he walk there he was told he needed to wait outside. I indicated that there was an opportunity of somewhere to sit within the salon and he said thank you for speaking up for him. She took him into a back room to get his eyebrows done and upon having him come to the front of the store she then told him that she could not keep his pedicure appointment. When one of the workers spoke up that she could be done quickly to take him, the owner brushed her off and said no we cannot give you a pedicure today. He then got very upset and frustrated and decided to leave. Another client indicated that her friend could come back another day to get her pedicure since she didn't have an appointment. The owner still told the man that he was not able to get a pedicure that day. I was very upset and disappointed to see the blatant racism towards this African-American man. I will not be returning! read more

I came in for a dip. I was in need right before the holiday. I went to another salon, in the shopping center over and ran right over to Mirage to see if they fix the mess the other salon made to my nails a few moments before. The ladies at Mirage were so empathetic, my nails had glue and pieces of tip from the other salon. Vanna cleaned it up as best she could. Vanna made everything better, she provided me excellent customer service and beautiful nails. Thank you so much for taking care of me. read more

First I'm going to start with the good. They were so clean and very friendly I appreciate how attentive they were when I first walked in. They follow covid protocols. Now, I'm going to explain the real reason why I am posting. My experience was terrible. I got a gel mani and regular pedi. My pedi was okay, not satisfied but didn't complain. Whatever.. my mani was horrible. First they made me bleed on every single finger with the nipper. I get that it happens once in a while, I get it. But every single finger bled. You can see each coat on the sides. It wasn't even. or clean at all. They had someone else come and try to fix but that ended up worse and took forever. It's a gel mani !! How painful and long is that supposed to be ?! I'm upset because I've never had an experience this bad. I paid the full amount by the way. My message to whoever is thinking of coming here : Just be careful read more

I would highly recommend you not get your nails or a wax done here. The salon is located at the back of the 7-Eleven adjacent to the McDonalds. Parking is easy to come by. Their location is probably the only good thing about this establishment. The individuals working there are rude and have limited customer service skills. I received an upper lip wax that took off skin from the corner of both sides of my smile line. I've been getting my upper lip waxed for years from salons good and bad and this is the first time a salon has removed skin. NEVER again! It left a scar for about 3 months on my face. Absolutely ridiculous. Not only was their wax terrible, they also do not take their time with your nails and rush through each service-- even with no one in the shop and two individuals eating lunch. Take your service up the street to Queen Nails across from Taco Bell. read more

This place is horrible! The staff are rude. There's one staff that told my nail tech not to do extra things for me because it's too much work. Yup, she said it in Vietnamese. Here's the thing: they didn't know I can speak and understand Vietnamese. Smh. They make the stereotype of "nails lady bad mouthing customers" to be true. I kept overhearing them talking negatively to each other about their clients! Never again will I go here. Plus it's ridiculously overpriced for the service you get. read more

I came in here with a girlfriend to get our nails done after lunch. It wasn't busy so they were able to take both of us in. I had a fill with gel that I wanted them to take off so it took awhile. Good thing I wasn't in a hurry. I feel that the lady who did my nails took off too much of my nails that it started chipping. She insisted it was because my nails weren't healthy though. She was nice enough to glue it but it also started to hurt. The color came out nice but the service was just ok. Not sure if I would be back. read more

My girlfriend and I have been to this place numerous times, but our last visit was something of misbehavior. we came together and wanted to both get manicures. my girlfriend wanted to get a pedicure, so I asked if it was OK if I sat in the empty chair next to her while she got her pedicure. The nail tech did not like that I wasn't getting my nails done so she spoke very shortly to me. I told her it's OK I don't mind waiting. she walked away for me and kicked a chair! and said smartly, " if you want to get your nails done, you need to do them now!" however I kindly refused. when I finally did get to my nails she was very abrasive with my cuticles. cutting me in several places. she clearly has an attitude problem. her partner would not stop up selling us I asked for a regular manicure. she kept trying to talk me into gel or powder. She was not pleased with what I would like. I thought this was a spa - a place to relax, but today was full of tension. read more

I came out here on two friends recommendations. I made a couple appointments, one for me, one for a gf that was getting married (civil). We had gel nails and a regular pedicure done. They were pretty helpful in picking out colors and treated the bride to be especially well. I have had my nails done here twice now and they were perfection the second time around (and good the first time). I had my gel mani on for 3 weeks (both mani's). No peeling, infection, nothing! Just going back to the only unfiltered review here, I don't remember paying $60 for my gel mani =/ maybe there was a fee for removing gel/acrylic ($10) and for the french ($5-10)? I will definitely be back to these folks if I have a last minute needed gel mani. I would come here every two weeks but I do my own gel mani's at home now and saving tons of $$$. **Easier if you park in the back and they're next to David's Bridal. read more

In my opinion, this is the best place in the Rockville area to go for nail services! I am not overly fond of chitchat while I get my nails done, I just like it to be relaxing. The staff here certainly aren't rude, and will engage in conversation if you want, but they are not super chatty if you're not in the mood for conversation. I've come in twice, and got a gel mani both times, and a pedicure once. Their prices are a little high, $37 for the gel mani, but I like their service and how long the gel lasted. Both times I made an appointment, which seems pretty necessary just so they have enough staff for you, they always have customers, but it's not crazy. The tools are clean, they came out of a sterile bag and my tech poured a new container of sanitizer that she put the tools in during my visit. The files themselves were a little older looking, but not dirty. The pedicure chairs are very nice as well. My only complaint is that the towels they use for the manicure tables and the pedicure are ratty looking, clean but the edges are very frayed. The towels for drying your hands are nice and new, so don't let that be the reason you don't come. If I were staying in the area per mentally, this would be the only place I would ever go! read more

It's labeled as Waxing Unlimited llc. on Yelp and other places. This is the cheapest waxing place I have been to - given the area. Just to give you an idea: full hands - $ 35 for both. Half legs - $27 and underarms - $15!! And she was thorough! The rooms are small, yes. But when you're being waxed will the size of the room really matter?? Also, it's neatly tucked at the back of the plaza on the second floor. This was my first time here and am planning on being a regular - will keep you posted if things cha read more

I went there for the first time today to get a gel manicure. The polish she used was so old and lumpy, my nails are now lumpy with thick, goopy looking polish. It's been 2 hours since I had my nails done, and one large lump just chipped off. I'll never go back. Update: 24 hours later, 1 more nail chipped and another looks like the polish is about to peel off. I've never seen anything like this, I'm not sure that was gel polish she put on my nails. I would go back and complain, but I can't imagine what garbage she would put in my nails next. Seriously, go anywhere else for your next manicure. read more

Came here for the first time yesterday to get a classic manicure for myself and buffing/hand massage for my boyfriend. The prices are reasonable and the service is standard. The lady never pushed me to get gel or anything like that either. We did have to wait around 15 minutes to be tended to but the staff were all very courteous and kept telling us we were not forgotten. I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 as I left with polish on odd parts of my finger that was never cleaned off. And my boyfriend's massage and buffing lasted a very short time given the price. I was in area and decided to treat myself to a well needed pedicure. It was my first visit at this salon. I was greeted and taken care of immediately. My nail technician wasn't a talker which is totally fine. I didn't get his name. He asked me if I wanted to get fill, assuming my nails are acrylic, but they are natural nails with gel polish. I passed on the gel manicure. One of his colleagues sat down next to him preparing to take another customer and in Vietnamese said convince her to change her mind about the gel manicure. He asked me about the manicure again and I said no. No one in the salon could tell I'm Vietnamese. Teresa took me to the back to tame my eyebrows. She is so sweet! Very personal and funny. read more

Do not get waxed here. If they don't use different sticks to wax you and definitely do not change their wax - getting your nails done here is probably just as unsanitary. Came in for gel mani/pedi and eyebrows in prep for a wedding. Staff was extremely courteous and attentive. The pedicure was comfortable and not too long, and staff were careful to check what length I wanted my nails before cutting/filing. I also had a split nail and were careful to avoid worsening it. The gel mani was quick but most places I go to don't roughen up all parts of the nail, so the polish never lasts. My staff was careful to hit all parts of the nail and it shows because it's now going on 2 weeks and my polish hasn't budged. The eyebrow was was quick and relatively painless, n concerns. I had high hopes for this place, but was unfortunately so disappointed. I wanted to find a place I could be a regular at. I made an appointment and they did not honor it at all. Don't bother making an appointment, as they just take walk ins. Literally 3 people walked in after me and they all got seen right away. I made an appointment 1.5 hours before they closed, and even got off work early so that the person doing them wouldn't need to rush. Since they had me wait, the woman who ended up doing my nails and I were the very last ones in the salon come closing time. They seem to treat their regulars very nice (so that's a plus) but definitely don't know how to treat potential regular customers. Second, I asked the woman doing my nails that I wanted almond-shaped. I showed her a photo, but they still ended up being "mountain-peak" shaped. She kept telling me they were almond, until I showed her the photo of the "mountain-peak" nails. Fortunately she was able to fix them, but still charged me $3 extra for "fixing" what she didn't do correctly in the first place! Made me uncomfortable to speak up about my nails, because then she and another colleague were speaking very quickly in another language and seemed angry as they talked about my nails. In the end, I was satisfied with my nails but the whole experience from start to finish was not worth it. The woman was not very friendly and kind of rough on my hands. Some of the others seemed nicer but they had other clients. I wish I had done my research about who to ask for. A lot of the reviews seem to recommend people. But I would not go back personally. read more

Had a horrible experience here this morning. Went in as a walk in and was taken right away and told they had time for a pedicure. Halfway through the original technician left me in the seat to take another appointment. Said her coworker was going to takeover ASAP. No problem... I sat there for about twenty minutes. The male employee who finally arrived and came in to takeover sat down and began verbally harassing and bullying me that he was called and rushed here ... to the point he even mocked "next time for me he'll sleep at the door to open it for me"... I just sat there and took it and let him know I will make sure to go somewhere else next time. It was honestly so inappropriate and mean. Excellent service and very clean. They follow Covid-19 disinfection procedures diligently. Ask for nail tech Julie-she does an amazing job!

Do not waste your money or your time!!! The ladies are RUDE especially to young African American girls. If I could give negative stars I would. My daughter went there to get a mani-pedi for her homecoming dance. She was there forever - when she finally messaged me that she was done she left the shop with wet nails because they made her feel so uncomfortable. The nail tech called my daughter stupid but will deny everything and act as if she was misunderstood. To paraphrase Maya Angelou ~I've learned that people may misunderstand what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. Her nails never dried. I returned to the shop to ask for a refund and they tried to usher my daughter into the chair as if to fix her nails. I explained that she doesn't want her nails done by them again!!! Still no refund. $51.00 for a trashy mani-pedi!!! By a rude nail tech. read more

I was terribly disappointed by the owners lack of acceptance of the Yelp deal that was advertised! He denied they had the deal and told me to call Yelp. The only reason I even came to this place was because of the advertised deal, as I explained. If you advertise something, then you should keep to that. Ridiculous. Although the pedicure looked nice, it took the girl like 1.5 hours to do and she kept messing up and having to retouch everything. Granted it was Sunday and I didn't really have anywhere to be, I still would have liked the experience to be more efficient. Small business should be about customer service- this place absolutely LACKS it! There were plenty of ways the owner could have remedied the situation to leave a customer happy and coming back. I AM NOT COMING BACK! One more thing: the owner GOSSIPS about customers like no other! Talking about what cars they drive and how rich they are etc. SO UNPROFESSIONAL! read more

These people clearly have a problem with African American people. I had a job training in Rockville and decided to check them out because I was interested in a pedicure. I went in to first see if they had the same color on my nails which they didn't so as I am leaving out the representative follows me and asks me did I pick a color, I responded no you all did not have the color of my interest. He then says I didn't see you put it back. I was completely appalled. It is extremely unfortunate that I was accused of stealing polish. Completely unjust. By the way check my nails out! I went to Mirage Nails on the Pike today based on reviews I read here on Yelp... what a huge mistake. I originally wanted to get a gel manicure and wax but when I walked back to the bathroom and saw the waxing rooms I was grossed out by how dirty the place was... The salon was old, dirty and had absolutely no ventilation. To make things worse, I paid $37 for a gel manicure that looks horrible. It honestly looks like I gave my 5 year old niece a chance to paint my nails. The manicurist did a HORRIBLE job. I cannot stress this enough. She also took her sweet time... I was there for over an hour. On top of the horrible manicure, I cannot get over the fact that the gel manicure is $37 and they are SOOOOO cheap with supplies. I highly doubt she used clean tools on my nails. And the cotton... I just paid almost 40 bucks. You can afford to soak more than a centimeter of cotton to soak the gel off my nails. Instead, she used barely any cotton so she had to pick all the gel off my nails. I am NEVER going back. read more

I got a gel manicure and eye wax. The eye wax was good. No complaints other than yeah it smelled like urine in there. My gel manicure was fast and it looked nice when I left. However, after day 2 my nails were in bad shape. I had a bunch of hangnails and I never have hangnails. Not sure if they cut too much of my cuticles or what but they pretty much damaged my nails. Total price of gel manicure and eye waxing was $45. I don't think I will go back to this place. read more

Walked in for eyebrow waxing today. This is my second time here. The first time, I left irritated because they dropped the waxing stick in my hair, panicked... And ran out to get help. I decided that everyone has bad days, so let me give them another try. The place is in a great location and cute inside. When I was brought back to the wax room, it was dirty. Once I laid on the table, I looked up at the light and it was disgusting. I should have left right then, but didn't. I got the vibe they were not too thrilled that I only wanted my eyebrows waxed, but it could have just been me. The lady did not ask me how I wanted them or anything regarding my eyebrows. She just stated, "Is that your husband waiting for you out front?" Then proceeded to rush through appointment. Once she finished, she handed me the most disgusting mirror I have ever seen. Too dark in the room matched with grease ball mirror made it impossible to see the quality of my eyebrows. I paid my bill and left. When I got in my car, I saw the quality. A big chunk of my eyebrow was missing. Luckily, I am pretty low maintenance and I can laugh it off. However, after two bad incidents here with two different employees, I will not be returning. It's a shame because it so convenient. Suggestion, walk two minutes up the road to Progressions Salon. Exceptional quality service there. read more

After my sad, sad manicure on Saturday from Lifestyle Nail Spa on Randolph Rd, I was itching to get my nails done again and have them be beautiful this time. I looked at the star rating on Yelp and decided to walk over from the Whole Foods to Mirage Nails and give them a shot. I initially just wanted a polish change, as my polish from the manicure just three days ago was already chipped and very uneven. The salon itself looked fine- not sparkling clean and new and beautiful, but not horrible either. There were more than a few towels strewn about, but no big deal, really. The lady tending to me (Tina) asked if I wanted my toe nail polish changed too and I said, sure, why not? During this polish change, she left me in the pedicure chair twice to go tend to other customers. That's ok, it was busy. When she came back, she suggested a gel manicure after asking why I was unhappy with my current manicure and then after I accepted, she promised she'd take care of me. Once at her station, she managed to get rid of tons of cuticles left behind (this made me very happy) and she shaped my nails and they looked awesome. Then she did the gel manicure thing and they looked amazing! I paid $51- $37 for the gel manicure, $14 for the polish change. A bit pricey, but I left her a $10 tip and was on my way. This is where it went bad. Once outside, I noticed streaks on my nails. Greasy looking streaks that I thought were on top of the nail polish, but are somehow cured in with the polish itself. It looks TERRIBLE. I was so disappointed I almost cried. I have a new baby and being able to tear myself away and leave her with a babysitter for almost two hours is really difficult. If I've spent over $60 total, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect my nails to look perfect. I don't have the time to fix this myself and have to wait to go back to get it fixed. I've contacted the salon to let them know I am unhappy with the results of my gel manicure and I'm hoping they will be nice enough to fix their mistake. Update- After reaching out to management at Mirage, I received a quick response from Assistant Manager Brian. He apologized for my nail sadness and offered to fix it for me, free of charge. Brian is a super professional, funny, knowledgeable guy and he gave me literally the BEST manicure I have ever had in my life. Attentive service and kind employees. I've only gotten nail services here, and am surprised that some reviewers have had a negative experience (though people only really review if they've had a great or terrible experience). Mirage has a really good selection of polishes and gel colors. They also have very clean nail stations and pedicure chairs. Most recently, I got a mani/pedi from Nam and enjoyed every second of it. My normal manicure (not gel) lasted for 2 weeks, with one minor chip (which was my fault from trying to open something with my nails). Nam was also really impressive with working around a healing wound on my hand during the manicure. Mirage also offers dip manicure services, so that's a great option for stepping outside of the normal gel or mani/pedi box. Mirage makes you feel pampered and is a solid affordable place with a great location - I really have nothing critical to say about the joint! read more

I came to this salon as a walk-in because they had sent me a message on yelp offering $10 off. Excellent! I was in desperate need of a mani/pedi so that was an awesome and welcome way to lure me in. I told Brian at the front about the offer when I walked in and he was very nice and accommodating. I'm not sure if he was so friendly because he knew I was a yelper, but in any case, he was super helpful the entire visit. The polishes are pretty standard...OPI, essie, they have gel as well. When I couldn't find my tried and true favorite color (Sexy Divide by essie) he offered to order it for me so that it would be available for me next time--that was above and beyond for customer service! I picked out something that I thought would be similar, but when she painted my first nail, the color was too blue for my liking. I went and looked through the options and then Brian came from the back and he told me that he had found it...perfect! Overall, the mani and pedi were good. Not the best I've ever had, and honestly, I'm still in love with Top Nails up the pike because they offer paraffin with their nail services. However, I couldn't find anything to complain about. My tech used sterilized tools, the place was clean...and for the price (even if I were to include the extra $10) it was a good experience. Normally I'd give this place a 3, because it really is just ok...nothing spectacular, not an amazing deal, but the customer service was on point so it earned an extra star! That goes a long way with me. And it is closer to home for me...definitely something to consider. Other things to note: -The massage chair was kinda weird--it squeezes your hips while you're sitting. I personally found it to be a bit weird and I'm not a tiny person so it was a little awkward. -My nail tech was not very chatty which I appreciated. -Cash for tips. read more
