I hired Nathan Barnes to detail a 2nd vehicle to get it ready for online sale. I contacted Nathan…read morevia direct message on Instagram and scheduled him to: Remove partial vinyl wrap; claybar; wash; spray wax the vehicle. It was done as a mobile service at my home. I provided water hookups and electricity for his equipment. He arrived at 9:15 for a 9:30AM appointment. He worked on the vehicle for most of the day and stopped just before dusk. This was the last week of December 2023. Upon inspection at completion Nathan had not removed all of the residue in some areas from the vinyl. He also left 2 different grease pencil marks on the vehicle which I was able to remove the next morning with a simple swip of a paper towel and some 90% alcohol. When the job was completed he wanted to upsell me on paint correction. I had just paid him $240 for a job that was not completed. He wanted an additional $450 or more for paint correction. Paint correction was not needed as I found out from the detailer who finished the work that Nathan did not. When I text messaged Nathan to let him know I was able to easily remove the grease pencil from the car's paint he responded: "Cool." While he was here he also bashed potential clients whose work he did not want to take and kept stating "My rates are going to be going up." I found this behavior unprofessional. He also wanted me to disclose other detailers rates - likely in an effort to undercut competition which is never a sign of good quality work. My previous experiences with Nathan were positive however this work was not professional or even remotely acceptable. Not once during the day did Nathan let me know he was encountering any problems with the services requested - as I was sitting maybe 25 feet away at my desk on the patio. If he was having issues he could have spoke up and we could have addressed them. He also could have assessed the vehicle before work started as well, he did not. The detailer who re-did Nathan's work charged me a very reasonable rate and apologized for Nathan's poor work. Nathan's inability to render proper services costed me additional Uber rides to and from the other detailer and to pick up my vehicle from indoor storage. It also delayed the sale of my vehicle by about a month. When he finished for the day he posted my vehicle on his Instagram without my permission and intentionally took distant shots to not expose the areas he left residue on. I thought this was unprofessional - leading his clients to believe he did a superb job when he did not. He then texted me after I commented on his post stating he left residue behind and wanted to have a text discussion or debate while I was attempting to eat dinner. I did not want a refund or partial refund. I wanted the services completed so I could move onto selling the car. Refunding me all or some of my money doesn't help my agenda of having a vehicle ready for sale. I let him keep the $240 - as he is still working from his parents driveway which is a sign his business might not be doing so well. He also sent me a message about what product to order to complete the job - I just paid him to do. I'm attaching photos of the residue he left behind - which was easily removed with alcohol. The detailer I ended up hiring to complete and redo Nathan's work was professional, thorough and highly worthy of a 5.0 star rating and reputation he has earned for the years he's been in business. I can't endorse Nathan Barnes Auto Detailing for obvious reasons at this time. I never like leaving 1star reviews but this was definitely earned in this case. He had a neat truck with all of his equipment, so I didn't need to do anything. I was really impressed with his work ethic, his attention to detail, and the overall result. The Murano looks almost new! I'm so pleased that I will be getting him back for two other vehicles. For the amount of work done, I thought the price was fair. The vacuum and cleaning area is inside a garage and one outside. Plenty of vacuuming station. Many of the window spray bottles didn't spray properly and this was annoying. I received a phone call from Theresa and she explained to me that they had dropped the plan I was on and I was on the new plan. They had sent out emails and notices at the wash. I didn't have an email on file so I'd never received one. I also didn't notice any notes but I believe it was there I just didn't notice. She reduced my price for two months for the inconvenience and told me I can always pause my membership while I'm out of town. Very helpful. With it being spring and heavy pollen soon I need to keep the membership to keep my car clean. I was very impressed with attention to customer concerns an so I will be keeping my membership. Highly recommend.
