I've attended the dinner show before too and found it to be moderately entertaining, but pricey and not the best for vegetarians. I hope to try running the trails on my next visit. Since I don't own a boat personally I might try taking the argosy over and camping on my own sometime in the future, which does seem like it might be an easy way to get in a sort of back packing type trip if you camp on the opposite side of the island from where it docks. Seems like lots of people camping here enjoy crabbing which can be done off the shore with pots. I love the idea of being able to camp on an island, although it is a challenge to have to get all your supplies to shore without getting too wet. I don't really like having to step in the water and I saw a small snake in the driftwood and I am terrified of snakes. There are also a large amount of raccoons which were not too bothersome. I do enjoy that you don't have to pack out your trash, and there are bathrooms available. Some of the bathrooms even have pay showers, which were surprisingly warm and nice after a few days of being on an island. It does seem like the rangers are constantly coming by, they do provide some helpful information but it does start to feel intrusive after awhile. In case you were wondering it is not okay to take your beer with you to the bathroom.

The beach is a quick 5-8 minute walk from the campground, depending on where your spot is. And there's also plenty of hiking paths around the peninsula! I think we clocked in at 1.5 miles, but it's kind of steep in parts. My favorite part about the campsite was the tree cover. There was always shade throughout the day, which kept the temp cooler. It also lightly rained for several hours Saturday afternoon and then again over night, but with all the trees our picnic table stayed mostly dry and our tent didn't get too soaked! Overall, very beautiful park and campground. I want to come back and experience this place again

We walked through the lower loop on our way back from the trail...closed for the season, but it looked even better, sites seemed bigger and more private overall. Beautiful trees and shade throughout. We took the battery and interpretive trails, nothing fantastic but still enjoyable with some nice bay views and little critters along the way. We ran into the campground host once who was very friendly and helpful. The day use area was good, with a large picnic building and lots of parking. Overall a nice, quiet stay and well-kept grounds.

Came here to do some afternoon reading by the lake…read more I really like this park because of the beach access and a boardwalk that jets out into the lake. There are ample tables for picnics, but only one bench for looking out over the lake. I took up a good portion of it so I could get comfortable reading- it was nice! There is a boat landing dock at the end of the boardwalk for those who want to take a break from their boating adventures. Other portions of the park have walking trails through trees, and there are lovely camping spots too.

The guides were helpful, informative and efficient. The forest scenery was absolutely gorgeous with a light drizzle of rain. I have done several zip line tours and this one definitely had safety locked down. It required no athletic ability so it was easy for someone in their sixties and a child who barely weighed enough to be included. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The location was stunning! Did I mention the lavender lemonade was such a special treat?!

There's a total of 6 zip lines. They start at shorter and easier and increase in difficulty. I wouldn't say it's a very extreme zip line, there were plenty of young children doing it as well. Fun fact: the longest zip line is slightly longer than the Space Needle in length! There were about 8 people on the tour with my husband and I (not including guides). I think the only con is having to wait for everyone at every canopy which is understandable for a safety point of view but can take some time and I'm a bit impatient. But you're quite high up so I took the time to enjoy the views, peace and quiet of being in the forest! Also, a good opportunity to strike up some conversation with everyone else. The staff helped us get into our gear, get in and out of every zip line and gave us a velocity push when we wanted extra speed very kindly. Halfway through the tour, you even get freshly made lavender lemonade which was delicious. I would try to book this in advance if you're trying to go on a weekend. I went on a Friday afternoon and was lucky enough to book same day. All in all, if you're looking for a fun day trip activity nearby Seattle - this was an hour and a half drive and just a lovely day! I was only told this after the first week of camp. I have only worked one week this whole summer when I was hired I was told it was a part time job with 3 hours a day for the whole summer. I felt in the dark and I have brought it up to the franchise owner but she claims it so everyone gets a chance to coach but how is that fair when I've done one week. I rearranged other possible jobs for this one and being only scheduled once whole summer isn't right.

They start off with a half hour introduction that includes each of their backgrounds regarding kayaking experience and some of the knowledge they have gained that pertains to the kayaking tour. Then they give a brief lesson about the bioluminescent plankton, then the safety talk. By the end of the talk you can tell how much they all love what they do and how committed they are to making sure you are safe and that you have a wonderful experience. The kayaking was easy, nothing strenuous, making it easy to watch the bioluminescence. And the bioluminescence was absolutely magical! They look like fireflies in the water! You can light them up with your paddle or even your hands. If you stir the water and scoop it up you can even get some lit-up plankton in your hand.. I would highly recommend Olympic Outdoor Center for this tour and we plan on returning again!

I so appreciated how seriously they take SUP safety. Plan accordingly. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ Outdoor adventures keeps the guided groups small (maximum 12 people). I appreciate the small groups since this was my first time kayaking. Three types of kayaks are available: single, double or triple occupancy. Discover is an accepted form of payment. A Discover Pass is required to park at Spencer Spit. If you do not have a pass, a $10 day pass can be purchased with cash or check. There were several rangers checking passes on our visit so be sure to have a pass visibly displayed to avoid being ticketed. WHAT TO BRING - Signed Release of Liability - Bathing suit or non-cotton under layers preferred - A synthetic shirt (capilene, polypro, Under Armor, etc) - Shorts or pants made of a synthetic material (may get wet/damp) - Lightweight fleece jacket or windbreaker/rain jacket to provide warmth - Water shoes or sandals that strap on (or shoes that can get wet) - Sun hat and/or sunglasses - Sunscreen and chapstick - Water bottle - Optional; Camera, Plastic bag for wet items and change of clothing - If you have a gift certificate or prepaid voucher (such as Groupon) please bring a printed copy with you! Dorito Dan was our guide for the day. Dan was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The first hour is dedicated to introductions, procedures and safety. Be sure to use the restroom before departing. Once on the water, there is no turning back. Kayaking is great for teamwork and communication. Both are required to avoid frustration. I recommend wearing weight-lifting/bicycle gloves in order to prevent blisters. Each person in our group started getting blisters towards the end of the tour. During our 3 mile kayaking trip, we spotted starfish, seals and majestic bald eagles. Thank you Outdoor Adventures for providing a magnificent day of play while surrounded by gorgeous Mother Nature. We all plan to return in the near future for another go-around.
