The situation was treated purely as a contractual inconvenience rather than a human crisis involving cognitive decline and elder care. They also levied a "leasing commission" - $5500! - to re-rent the immaculately kept house that took exactly one day for them to re-rent. What was most distressing was not just the financial posture taken, but the tone: repeated legalistic arguments with no acknowledgment of my father's condition, no empathy for an elderly couple in crisis, and no effort to handle the situation with basic humanity.
