Whitney came highly recommended by a friend, and after meeting with multiple Realtors while deciding who to work with, we ultimately chose him--and we're so glad we did. From the very beginning, he demonstrated deep expertise in the Marin County real estate market and a clear strategy for selling my parents' home in Mill Valley. He guided us through pricing, preparation, and timing with thoughtful advice that made the entire process smooth and successful. We also used the concierge service offered by Own Marin, which was incredibly helpful. It made it easy to cover the upfront costs for additional work and improvements that helped the property stand out before going to market. What really sets Whitney apart is his responsiveness, professionalism, and attention to detail. He kept us informed every step of the way, handled every challenge calmly and efficiently, and made what can be a stressful process feel organized and manageable. His knowledge of Mill Valley real estate and the broader Marin County housing market, along with his marketing strategy and strong network, clearly helped attract serious buyers and achieve a fantastic outcome. If you're searching for a top Marin County Realtor and someone you can truly trust to guide you through selling a home in Marin, we highly recommend Whitney Potter. Whitney and the team at Own Marin exceeded our expectations, and we're incredibly grateful for his expertise and dedication.

We contacted them several months ahead of our target date for selling and their team was very helpful and supportive in guiding us through the inspections as well as in deciding what updates my wife's family's home of over 60 years needed to attract potential buyers. The photos and videos of the property were outstanding and the staging was beautiful. Ultimately the property sold a week after listing for 25% over the asking price with 7 offers. We were amazed and very appreciative of the expertise Barr and the Own Marin team provided.

He cared about us, he was very candid when he though a home wasn't right for us and thankfully we listened to him. We eventually found the home of our dreams. It meant the world to us and we really can't thank him enough. He's a great realtor and a great person.

(He's now been involved in 3 out of the 8 houses on our street, one sale and two purchases.) Five years later, I tracked Steve down as I wanted him to be my agent to help sell my inherited family home. The first thing he said when he came to look at the house was, "Dude, you're leaving money on the table". Thus began an odyssey of a year and a half of remodeling and renovation with his guidance. (I originally just wanted to sell the house as-is, thus Steve's comment.) Steve's wife, Kim, an interior designer, lent initial guidance on the project and provided input on paint choices and furniture. Steve kept an eye out for usable materials from other projects and showed up a couple of times with strings of café lights that helped make the place look magical. I needed to replace some rotated retaining walls and Steve provided contact information for a contractor that did an immense amount of high quality work in a week and a half. Another contractor replaced older double-glazed windows that had failed. (I did joke with Steve that if he was really a full-service broker, he'd know a discrete arsonist.) He showed up one day to touch base while I was pressure washing the carport. Steve grabbed a broom and starting brushing the standing water out, how many agents would do that? As the market was very hot, we had trouble finding a stager that was available. (I was rather dubious about the value of staging at first due to the high cost.) Michelle at Revelation was more affordable than the others and did a bang-up job. She made the house look too good for the likes of us. It's a common phenomenon that people think twice about selling their house after all the improvements are made and they go from drab to fab. Two photographers were provided, including one with a drone, that produced some beautiful collateral with twilight photos. As I ran out of funds near the end, despite acting as the GC, I wanted to help expedite the sale by having the house measured and inspections done before placing the house on the market; he provided both and lent the funds to do so. We were happy that the sale met my target price. We wanted to move to Pt. Reyes Station. We met multiple times to look at properties in west Marin. Steve met me at the county planning offices several times including a paid sit-down meeting with the county where the planning department researches the said property and guides you as to what is feasible. I wasn't aware of such a thing. It was at Steve's suggestion that we set up the meeting and we ultimately decided against making an offer on an overpriced lot with way too many restrictions. At another vacant site, Steve made the observation that there were blue lines (water elements) in the back and side that could create problems getting a leach field approved. Despite his observation, we made an offer that was rejected and I think he was relieved. Steve didn't think the seller would exactly be Mr. Rogers. I have waited a year to write this review, since the sale of our house, because we weren't done with him. We closed escrow, today, on four vacant acres in Sebastopol with Steve's help. Our ambition is to do restorative farming and to build a house that meets our design sense and needs. Few of the lots we considered met all of our criteria including zoning issues. This one does. Steve came to look at it and gave it his blessing so we went forward. There was a last-minute second offer from another party but we won the bidding with my letter to the seller. I wasn't confident with my letter but Steve gave me the thumbs up saying it was perfect the way it was. He was right since the two bids were equal but the seller chose us. Finally, to the "lady" with the two-star review who accused Steve of being in it for the money; I'm offended at the mischaracterization and feel I must defend him. I never felt Steve didn't have our best interests at heart whether it was in selling our house or buying our land over a 2+ year period.

Their expertise runs deep -- they know not only the ins and outs of each neighborhood, but even the nuances of individual streets. In fact, they often led with, "Here are the things that could be tricky about this home or neighborhood." That honesty and thoughtfulness built enormous trust throughout the process. In the end, they helped us find the perfect home for our family (and guided us through some hurdles along the way). We are incredibly grateful for their partnership and cannot recommend them enough.

Yesenia helped us understand where the market was at in different neighborhoods, so we could zero in on properties within our budget. Once we found the home that checked all our boxes, Yesenia worked overtime to arrange/attend a private viewing in the afternoon, then put together and submit the offer the following morning. Because of her keen knowledge of the market, we came in strong and were in contract that afternoon. Closing timelines in SF are very short, with a lot that can potentially go wrong and delay the process. Yesenia was on top of it the whole way. She regularly reminded us of things we needed to do, and when necessary, she talked directly to our loan and escrow offers to course correct and keep the closing on track. Since closing, Yesenia has stayed in contact and helped us with post-closing questions and issues (such as tracking down a missing key). We knew what we wanted (classic SF character, water views, a walkable and vibrant neighborhood) but had no clear sense of where to find it all or how to think about our budget. We needed more than a real estate agent; we needed someone who could help us find the dream itself. Danielle Lazier at Vivre Real Estate became our buyer's agent, and she was exactly that person. She listened carefully, zeroed in quickly on what would feel like home to us, and brought real clarity to how our budget aligned with home values on the ground. She was direct and always available, without ever making us feel rushed. We found a stunning co-op apartment in Russian Hill with breathtaking views. Danielle's strategic pricing advice helped us craft a winning offer, and her expertise navigating the additional complexities of a co-op transaction was invaluable. She connected us with excellent vendors, guided us through contingencies, and kept us calm through closing. If you're a home buyer trying to navigate San Francisco's uniquely complex real estate market, there is no one more qualified to have in your corner. She turned a vague old dream into our actual home, and we couldn't be more grateful.

Before choosing an agent, I spent a lot of time researching transaction histories and interviewing teams. From a previous home purchase, I learned that the difference between an average agent and a great one often comes down to negotiation. Many agents can "win" a house by telling clients to keep increasing their offer. That's easy. The real challenge is helping clients win without overpaying. From our very first meeting, Josh stood out. We told him our dream was to buy in Inner Richmond, but we assumed it wasn't realistic within our budget. Rather than pushing us toward properties or encouraging us to stretch financially, he took the time to understand exactly what we wanted, educate us on different neighborhoods and market dynamics, and help us build a thoughtful strategy. Throughout the process, Josh was incredibly disciplined. There were plenty of homes we could have chased, but he never pressured us to make offers that didn't make sense. In a market where homes regularly sell hundreds of thousands--and sometimes more than a million dollars--over asking, that level of restraint and honesty is rare. About four months into our search, Josh brought us an opportunity before it officially hit the market. The situation was complex, and the sellers ultimately decided to list the property publicly. Josh helped us navigate every step, carefully managing timing, strategy, and negotiations while keeping a close pulse on competing interest. The result? We ended up buying a home we love in the exact neighborhood we originally thought was out of reach. Even better, the bank appraisal came back significantly higher than our purchase price, confirming that we had secured exceptional value in one of the most competitive housing markets in the country. On top of that, Josh connected us with a lender who successfully navigated our complex income situation, secured a great rate, and closed our loan in just 14 days. What impressed me most was that Josh always acted like an advisor rather than a salesperson. At every stage, his focus was on helping us make the right decision, not simply getting us into a transaction. If you're looking for someone who knows the San Francisco market, negotiates strategically, and genuinely looks out for your interests, I highly recommend Josh and Danielle's team.

First time home buyer here and Megan was exactly who I needed to make it happen. After doing some…read moreresearch on my own I found the whole home buying process a bit overwhelming. My living situation at the time had become untenable and I really needed this ASAP. At the same time, however, I have a stressful job and adding more stress to my dwindling free time was an agonizing concept. I'm mid forties now and find myself, more and more, growing weary of the world. So naturally, I'd been dragging my feet for months when a friend, somewhat forcefully, referred me to Megan. Still, I managed to procrastinate a few weeks more before being strong-armed into finally reaching out. My only regret, and I don't say this lightly, is not reaching out sooner. Once Megan was at the helm all the chaos in my head became a streamlined process that saw me living in my very own home, start to finish, just over two months later. It could have been even sooner had it not been for my own indecisiveness. Megan's wealth of knowledge and experience, her many connections within the industry, as well as her patience, attentiveness, and empathy were invaluable throughout the process; the latter traits being key for me. From the get go it is apparent that Megan is enthusiastic and motivated while I am, well... not so much. In fact, for me enthusiasm adds to what is already a stressful situation by my perception. The fact that Megan so quickly brought herself down to my level and matched my pace speaks volumes about her awareness and compassion. So if you're excited about the process she undoubtedly will be too, but if you're struggling with the idea of adding a life altering and lengthy process to your already chaotic life, rest assured, she is still the right choice and will see you through. Megan's knowledge and connections proved pivotal as well. She had an answer to every question and prepared me well in advance for all contingencies. Before I found Megan, I had begun seeking pre-approvals through a couple mortgage lenders I thought were good picks. Turns out I had much to learn. Through one of her many contacts I was immediately presented with a substantially better offer by way of a grant. Then, after jumping through the hoops of obtaining a fully underwritten pre-approval, once I saw the final numbers on paper I realized my priorities were skewed and I really needed a lower interest rate over grant money. A rate this lender couldn't provide. With zero frustration or hesitation Megan was ready with another lender that fit my needs. I say 'zero frustration,' but I'd be surprised if there was none. Anyone would be frustrated at a client upending a weeks long process to start at square one. All I noticed was an eagerness to solve the problem. As an aside, that new lender was perfect. Not only did I receive a rate so good the previous lender was a little surprised, Alicia, the new lender was again just a perfect fit for me on a human level. Megan knows good people. Not surprising. When all was said and done and I met Megan at my new home to be handed the keys to my new life, she offered congratulations and words of encouragement in a way that befit my outlook of relief over excitement. Once inside I discovered a thoughtfully arranged array of welcoming gifts. I had previously mentioned how I was a bit of a neat freak and was looking forward to having my own kitchen; that after a long period of costly meal prep services, I'd finally being able to cook again. There were spices and olive oil, various cooking utensils, a cookbook along with cleaning supplies, and even snacks. All things that truly eased my transition as I began shifting my life into new quarters. Such a thoughtful gift from such a considerate person. I feel so much gratitude for my friend who referred me to Megan, for those Megan referred me to, and most of all, for Megan being the professional, compassionate, diligent, and caring human being that she is. Thank you.

Here's the story: We put our condo on the market in San Francisco just to "test the water." But, it was sold two days later and the new owners wanted a very short close period. Our realtor in the city recommended Abby for Marin properties. She met with us on a Saturday and was truly interested in learning our tastes and needs. In retrospect, some of our wants were somewhat contradictory to others, but that didn't stop Abby from actually finding properties that amazingly met our checklists. She was quick to learn our tastes. Her many years of selling homes in the area was a huge benefit, as she knew subtleties of neighborhoods, roads, traffic, and other important considerations. We finally found a house that we fell in love with, and prepared to make an offer only to find out that there were two other competing offers to be submitted the same evening. (Abby's long-standing connections in the realtor community was critical in us getting this information.) With her help, we put together a clean, attractive offer that was accepted! But the story doesn't end here! To make the time crunch even worse, my wife and I had already planned to vacation out of the country before we ever put our place on the market. Now, we had to get numerous inspections, disclosures, etc in a very short period of time. Abby took care of it all. Things really could not have occurred any more rapidly than they did. Nor could they have gone any more seamlessly. Abby was our savior in this crazy-paced month.
