On October 15, 2026, I had an initial office visit with Dr. Garrett Hauptman. I had filled out the…read morelengthy pre-visit forms online the previous day. This was laborious because I am not good with computers and do not type. I did not memorize the specific data. Dr. Hauptmann asked me when I had previously had sinus surgery. I said I did not remember, but it was on the form. He stated I had been rude to his nurse. Then, in an angry, vehement and loud voice, he said "I asked you a straightforward question. Either you answer it right now or get out of here." In a quavering voice, I replied "It was during COVID, either 2020 or 2021." His affect then changed and he proceeded with the examination. I asked how I had been rude to his nurse. He did not answer and then said "No hard feelings." I left. I sat in my car for a few minutes to calm down before driving home. I do not know how I offended the nurse. My recollection is that I was courteous and forthcoming to her. I have never been talked to by a doctor or anyone else in such a manner in my 77 years of life. This behavior was uncalled for and very upsetting. I will have nothing further to do with Dr. Garrett Hauptman.

I have gone through the range of hearing tests…read moreat various times, largely because of my encounter with very loud noises with U.S. Army weapons and helicopters and ended up with hearing that is at the 'profound' level - the worst. I began buying hearing aids in 2009, again in 2014 and 2019 (that's when insurance would pay for them). Now, when I walk into the kitchen and respond to my wife's request for a coke, the dozen eggs I bring to her chair doesn't happen any longer. The blue tooth capability also works very well with my cell phone, and AA sets all that up for me. Patty, Terry and Alex are all so informed, so professional and so friendly that it is a pleasure to see them. The equipment and hearing products they have for patients is always current, and they have access to the best hearing aid brands.
