Due to my own complete stupidity I realized I forget our passports at home while we were in the cab. I did not remember this till we were almost at the airport, and I told the driver, "oh no! I need to go back home." I explained my error. He was very nice, and said, no problem, turned around and I got the passport and we went back on our way. I figured, maybe instead of $70-80 dollars, I would be paying something like double. Strange thing is, there was NO METER. So it was not exactly obvious, what I would pay. But what I did NOT expect was to be charged $267.00!!!! I asked him why so high? And he said it was triple the fare. Now, correct me if I'm wrong but $267 divided by 3 is $90. So not only does this company not use a legal meter, but he charged me more than their quoted rates on their website! That is pure highway robbery!! $267 for a freaking cab ride to the airport? Zero heart. I did not want to argue, as I had a plane to catch, but, I would never use a company that takes complete advantage of someone like this. This price gouging is horrible, and since they don't even use a meter....how are they legally able to get away with this?

(He'll also do pickups ad-hoc, of course.) He'll also pick you up from the airport (SJC or SFO), tracking your flight status to make sure he's there at the right time. He shows up on time (usually early, actually, just to be safe.) On the rare occasions that he is unavailable, he takes responsibility for finding another driver to show up so I don't have to worry about it. The other drivers have always been fine -- never quite Harpreet-quality though :-) Harpreet provides a safe and comfortable ride. No driving crazy, no blaring music, no constantly talking on the phone. (He occasionally takes a call but it is generally brief, he speaks quietly, and is usually focusing on driving & available for requests or communication. He is consistently friendly, yet happy to give you the space to relax or work during your ride. He may offer discounts to regular customers. His quality of service is consistent. I've been using this guy for like three years. This is an unsolicited review (i.e. Harpreet did not ask me to write it). He just deserves it. I had a job interview yesterday and had last minute car problems right before it…read more I knew it would be expensive but instead of taking the bus/light rail, I figured the cab would be worth it so I'd be less stressed and able to focus. I made an online reservation and the dispatch guy called me a few minutes later to confirm. The driver came right when I asked, picked me up from Palo Alto and drove me to San Jose. Luckily there was no traffic and by the time we got there, I still had some time before my interview. I was hungry and we saw a McDonald's nearby. So the driver went over and got into the drive through line. I was worried about the meter and told him I'd just go inside and walk back to the office. But he said not to worry about the meter. Instead, he stayed in the drive through line, waited with me and even treated me to coffee! When we got back to the office for my interview, I pulled out my credit card (yes, there's an app for that!) and he didn't charge me the whole amount. (Don't remember the exact meter, but I paid something like $45 instead of $60) He said that since I was looking for a job, he didn't want me to pay full price as long as I wrote him a Yelp review. Not only did he calm my stresses about my interview, he treated me to coffee and gave me a huge discount......he TOTALLY MADE MY DAY!!!! She did not even ask for contact info. And cabs wonder why uber is eating their lunch.
