It has its own cafe, but if you want to eat warm food. You will need to walk over to Community Hospital North to their cafteria. My big brother had been seeing Dr Jon Janson, who is a general surgeon for about 6 months now. We finally decided to do surgery to remove a large mass. This is in addition to removal of his spleen. This was a nerve wrecking and daunting experience . As someone working in the number one trauma center in California. I researched and consulted with two hospitals and several specialists before allowing my brother to complete this surgery. As the over protective sister, I came from California to ensure the surgery and recovering was done to my satisfaction. We are so lucky to have met Dr Janson. He was extremely capable, compassionate, skillful, professional and is a great communicator. He not ony made me comfortable in allowing him to cut my brother, but he was empathic toward my ever long list of questions. He was confident in his skills and it made us all more comfortable. The surgery was done on the first floor. You will check in at the front desk. They will provide a pager,which the famiy member will keep. The pager will allow hospital staff to reach you. It will remain with you until the surgery is over. Once the surgery is done, you are paged again. They will put you in a room, which Dr Janson, took time to explain surgery procedure and outcome. He also provided pictures of the mass he removed. He also educated me about my brother's recovery needs. Later on, my brother was moved to the second floor to be observed overnight. The nursing staff were extremely caring, helpful and sweet toward myself and my brother. I really appreciated the exceptional care my brother received from the surgery center. Special shout out to nursing staff: Michelle, Lisa, Alison and Nancy Dr Janson not only checked on my brother about 2-3 hours after the surgerey. He came early the next morning to check his wounds again. He provided their 24/hour line to call upon discharge. Talk about awesome customer service. I did actually called few days later with some questions, ex : my brother symptons, pain and fever. I was lucky enough to received a call back from Dr Vincent Delumpa. He was more than professional and reassuring. He was also the other awesome surgeon in the operating room for my brother. I just want to take the time to thank everyone at the Surgery center for a job well done. Thank you for keeping my brother safe and well taken care of. Check in is quick on an iPad, and they thankfully could get me right into see someone. Turns out I have a broken and fractured hand, the staff was very helpful and comforting, and even set me up with a prescription. The Cancer Center at Community North is one place that I was surprised by and truly pleased with. I am far from impressed with the health care system in America so I felt it was very important to provide a review. From the moment we walked in, my family was treated with exceptional care from each and every employee we came in contact with. From the first employees at check in who gave us a overview of information of care to even providing us with financial assistance information at the front desk we felt a sense of genuine caring. Finally someone understands that the journey is not simple nor inexpensive and they offer you help up front instead of shocking you with medical expenses that you probably will not be financially prepared for unless you have medical emergency funds saved up for catastrophic health issues. Once we check in and knew where to go next, we met awesome nurses, care coordinators and doctors that did not rush us with helping us to understand all of the treatment options available and who encouraged us to take a few moments to think about what was best for our family. Even at check out we were not just directed on how to figure out how to get to check out. Our care coordinator escorted us to the check out and encouraged us to contact her at anytime with any questions, reaching our doctors, setting appointments, etc. If every medical facility ran as great as the Cancer Center, I guarantee the health care system would be so much better for everyone. However, I went back today and to my surprise they were very professional and my wait was not long. I spoke with two doctors,and asked a lot of questions they both explained everything and made be feel comfortable about the services I was having performed. Dr, Mukunda provided the service and she and her assistant was great and the prices were affordable. Unfortunate, the business department could use better training. One of the young ladies who was working on my bill insisted I pay for my services up front, now this was a first for me I never experience this at a doctor or dentist office. I asked if this was normal, beside I was using two different type of popular insurance coverage and my balance was only $236. She stated we have to do this because people don't pay before they leave I was shocked by her response and did not argue I paid, but still concern and not feeling comfortable about this process. It turned out the doctor did not have to do what she anticipated, therefore, the job was easier than she expected and she stated we will remove those charges from your bill at the end. As I was leaving I stopped by the front desk and stated I am due a refund and the young lady stated your insurance company will have to refund you we can't refund you anything back again in disbelief. I said you debited my credit card too early this is why you should have waited until the services was completed, so you would have known exactly what to charge me, now you have taken my cash and sharing with me I will have to wait for the insurance company to refund me. The nurse left then the doctor came in about 20 minutes and explained to me that is not how he does it, he stated he pulls the tooth and then puts the person on antibiotics. I explained to him I can not allow him to do that so then he wanted to look at the tooth, but he pulled out the tools with an attitude and I refused to let him do that so he told me to leave.
