Our family works with 2 hygienists for cleanings, Viktoriya and Kelly, both are top notch and work with extreme attention to detail! I have recently completed phase 1 of a tooth implant process. It happens to be one of my very front teeth and you can imagine how vulnerable that might make you feel. Dr. Kwong is the dental surgeon that did the procedure and I was nothing less than blown away at how easy and painless it all was. I experienced virtually no pain during or after the procedure. There was very little swelling and absolutely no bruising. At the moment I am fitted with a temporary tooth as the grafting takes place, I will get my permanent implant in July. I'd say he is extremely good at what he does. And I would also have to mention the women who run administration, Michelle and Karolina. Awesomely competent and well organized, super friendly too. As is everyone in the office! Karolina was also the assistant during my implant surgery and she was fantastic! This is an office that runs top to bottom like a high end and well oiled machine. I've had bad experiences as a kid/teenager. For weeks, and hours leading up to the appointment, I was getting anxiety and my husband reassured me I was in good hands. My first experience was with the front desk, and the young ladies were lovely and genuine. They had my insurance set up; I didn't need to lift a finger. In LESS THAN 12 hours I got my return from Sunlife (benefits company). It was so simple and quick! The actual office is state of the art, quick, and effective. Everything including X-rays are shown up on LCD TVs in front of you so you know what the dentists plan on fixing or improving. I had Kelly as my dental hygenist. She was kind, relatable, understanding, and empathetic. Did I mention she has a great sense of humour? She was professional and made me feel super comfortable. She demonstrates a true passion for her role and her attention to detail was impeccable. She also explained what plaque and tartar was and how it could impact teeth and gums. During the cleaning process I was fighting to stay awake! I was so relaxed I could have taken a nap! She gave me the remote to the TV and I watched TV and relaxed while she did her thing. Normally I would be gripping the edge of the chair in fear. Dr. Ma is very friendly and understanding. She has a great sense of humour and does her best to make her patients feel welcome. You can also see the openness she has with the hygienists and the sense of partnership they share. The experience from beginning to end has really reduced my fear of dentists and have already booked future appointments with anticipation. I am young and wanting to protect my teeth for decades to come. They have really changed my view of someone putting hands and loud gadgets in my face. So, now I have a horrible dark line and crack running up/down the middle of my front tooth and she has refused to fix it! It has caused a severe loss of self-confidence so that I never smile anymore, something I used to always get complimented on before she ruined my teeth. This dentist is horrible!!! It will cost me well over $2,000 or more to get my tooth fixed now because I will have to have it porcelain veneered now and a crown applied. She broke my tooth, I believe on purpose, and now refuses to fix it or pay to have it fixed. She doesn't care about you, she only wants to take your money! Cold hearted woman! Terrible dentist!!! Find some dentist that cares about their work and their reputation. Dr. Yu clearly doesn't!

But I've gotten past that and just want it to be over because I don't want to deal with this incompetent clinic anymore. Total cost: $6000 and countless hours of waiting in the patient chair because they overbook appointments. That or the Dr is terrible at time management. They have so many clients that they treat you like cattle. Their focus is on making money, not on you as a client or your wellbeing. They will do whatever they can to maximize profit from you even if it is unethical. Eg. take various x-rays every year to show how the teeth have 'moved' but this takes the yearly x-ray away from your general practitioner (Dentist) to check for cavities, unless you have unlimited extended health benefits. They will try to make you use their dentists, even try to sell you botox and teeth whitening. Every time the care coordinator comes at me with a giant smile, I know she's going to sell me something. (The smile is probably because she is looking at me but all she sees is $money opportunity$). The front desk staff are visibly burnt out and morale is low. The office manager is the most unfriendly person I have ever met in the customer/health service industry. Turnover of the technicians seems high. It is disgusting how they move from one client to the next, sometimes without changing gloves. The layout is an open concept but this is terrible for client confidentiality and it is extremely crammed in there so technicians will always squeeze around you. I see lots of photos of the Dr with celebrities, and her on the newspaper. Well guess what, this has nothing to do with the service you are about to get. I have absolutely nothing good to say about this clinic. Please do yourself a favour and continue your research for a better orthodontist, bring your hard earned money elsewhere. Name and 'reputation' are nothing. I regret using this clinic.

I booked an appointment to get my teeth cleaned, get spacers, and take impressions. They did not seem to have trays that fit my mouth, so they jammed in a metal tray much too big which triggered my gag reflex. The assistant held her hand over my mouth, keeping the tray in, for a minute while I couldn't breath. I was visibly distressed. Then they put in spacers (roughly). They left me in the chair for 30 minutes alone until I asked about the cleaning. They forgot about it. They squeezed me in to see the hygienist, who began taking out the spacers. Due to their negligence, the work they already did had to be taken out and then done again. After all this, I told them I no longer wanted to have my braces done there. They still charged me $500 for "records". I was there for 2.5 hours for 6 spacers and 2 impressions, no cleaning. Do not go here.

In fact, he recently returned from a conference sporting the latest medical binocular loupes. I recently visited Tom for a tooth ache which required some freezing and cutting. The procedure was performed masterfully. I was particularly impressed with his follow-up care after the surgery, making sure I suffered no undue post-op pain. I would highly recommend Tom for all your dental needs. Although I'm not sure if he's taking new patients right now. But who knows? Maybe you'll get lucky!

I saw my dentist who I advised I would need a root canal and was referred to Dr Rene Chu of Oakridge Endodontics. I had an initial consult with Dr Chu where x-rays were taken and he explained in detail the process. A root canal is required when the inner pulp of a tooth becomes infected, inflamed, or dies due to severe decay. The root canal removes the infected pulp, cleans the root canal, and seals it to save the tooth from extraction. The root canal appointment was made for the following week. The root canal procedure went very well. Each step of the process was explained as they went and they continually checked to ensure I was ok. There was a short debrief after the procedure and I was provided instructions / information on what to expect for the next few days. It was a very positive dental procedure and happy to recommend Dr Chu and Oakridge Endodontics if one is needing a root canal.

Never mind, the surgery itself was less disturbing than getting a Filling. Now that's saying something! I've been around the block, quite a few times, and Drs. Conn are consummate professionals in every way. Their staff are also wonderful to deal with, every single one of them. Anyone saying otherwise needs to look in the mirror. I understand that some people are terrified of dentists, but they need to seek other professional help prior to attending to limit the stress they are putting on the dentist.
