The apartments are old and outdated plus they have mold. The apartment manager is so rude and is outright nosey. Avoid these apartments at all costs because once you have bed bugs from these apartments you'll carry them on you to work giving the bugs to your coworkers, you'll carry them on you to your family and friends homes giving them bugs, and you'll carry the bugs with you where ever you move next. I had my clashes with Northplace but decided to give the place 4 stars for one major reason, and that is the amazing Maintenance Team. I have rented in various apartments in NYC, Chicago, and OC of SoCal. No place comes close to the courteousness and professionalism of the folks at Northplace. Their empathy and apologies are sincere, and they really know how to deliver the best resolution for problems at your unit. If you happen to rent at Northplace and run into trouble, my only suggestion is to be patient but persistent. They mean no intentional inconvenience. Best of luck.

I have never had to pay monthly pet rent before or pay an additional pet deposit for each pet either. They charge $25 monthly for the first car and even more for the second car. I have never had to pay a monthly fee to park my cars at an apartment I am renting before. You are responsible for paying for your own apartment energy which is expected but they also charge you monthly for water, sewer, trash, common area electricity, common area gas and for public service and this is something that I have never had to pay for at a rental either. I also get charged a "service fee" every month for over $45 for using a credit card to pay the rent and the extra charges. It is a nice place to live if you can afford the rent and all the add on charges but you do have to watch out for the dog poo in the grassy areas. The mailboxes for packages was broken into well over a month ago and sadly the broken locks still have not been repaired. Our unit does not have air conditioning and the inside of our apartment hit 90 degrees on these hot summer days, we were roasting and it was awful. I am not sure that any of these units have air conditioning so you may want to verify what your unit actually has before getting a nasty surprise. The last thing to note is the pool was closed randomly on many of the hot summer days, I am not really sure why it kept closing so often but what a bummer to have a pool and have it closed so often during the summer. The pool is not open year round. To make matters worse, my wife can hear "noises" from the neighbor. Now everything is ruined and we won't be staying much longer.

They lost documentation, never answered phone calls, rarely took care of your apartment and what they were supposed to do. I don't know what the hiring requirements are for managers, but it's clearly bottom of the barrel. I tried contacting the current management multiple times in regards to my move out, and other multiple issues I had. Including a professional cleaning service that I hired to clean the place thoroughly. I contacted them several days prior to inform them of this, emailed them to speak with the manager, and contacted them the day of and several days after, and several days after that. The manager failed to get a hold of me for an entire month. And by the time she decided to, she said that: "Yes I did receive the invoice and unfortunately due to this not being provided to us when you handed in your keys and not until we sent out your deposit accounting, we are not able to adjust your deposit accounting." So they proceeded to charge me another 300.00 dollars for cleaning. When there was literally nothing to clean. The apartment was deep cleaned top to bottom by a professional cleaning company and the highest rated one in the area at that. So how exactly can it be provided If you ignore my calls and emails? How can I give you documentation if you refuse to do your job as a manager? This management team promised to better than the last, but obviously it's empty words, and even more deceptive lies. So the fact that they lied about having to do any cleaning, the fact that they are willing to go to that extent, and damage their own reputation, shows exactly what kind of place this is. They might sound friendly, but at the end of the day, they're only looking to sign you up, screw you over, and take your money. I did everything to my ability to inform them on every issue, and yet they still chose to screw me over. If they have a remotely honest, or even slightly decent landlord, they would immediately reconsider their standing on the current manager, and resolve this issue as it should have been, in a respectful and honorable way.

This place was under construction/renovations for what seemed like an eternity. During that time we experienced power outages, a flood in lobby, our hallway filled with construction personnel, all kinds of dust and debris etc.. 2. I have witnessed TOO many changes in management/staff. In only the past few months there has been about 4 or 5 staff changes. I feel like every time I walk in to pay rent a new person is there. Therefore, every time I email the staff its a new person, I have to explain myself again etc.. I have visited the office to speak to the manager and there is usually no manager, "the previous manager is no longer working with the company". Expect at least a week delay to hear back from an emailed request. 3. Lack of professionalism from staff, maybe this is why they keep changing the staff. I went in to talk about some issues in my apartment and the leasing associate was chewing gum the entire time. It was extremely unprofessional in my opinion. There also seems to be a blame game going on, anytime I try to get anything addressed, the staff blames it on another staff member. 4. Nothing is ever 100% working. We were supposed to have the ability to pay online EONS ago, and that has been an ongoing battle. 5. BEWARE rent increases. I have had almost 2 or 3 rent increases. Needless to say I am looking at other options. 6. This place advertise SECURE building? This is a complete joke, I have talked to management many times about this. I've seen transients from downtown walk into the lobby and hang out. Don't get me wrong, the apartments are nice. However, for the price tag one should receive better service. I can honestly say I received better service when I was paying $795 in rent at another place. It wasn't "SALEM'S PREMIER LUXURY APARTMENTS" but the value was priceless. **Update: there is currently no manager? There is only ONE new person currently in the office**

Very family friendly and pet friendly. They are doing a holiday event for families and pets which is letting kids and pets meet Santa in their office for free photo ops. Absolutely sweet of them to do that! We had a pumpkin carving contest in October and it was cool to see engagement among the neighbors. I didn't win, by the way! :) Families and kids are pretty nice for the most parts. No complaint there! We wave at each other after warming up to it for a while. Everyone is just trying to be safe and happy. I think overall anyone will have a successful experience here if they are respectful of the super reasonable boundaries set by the office/lease and don't act like immature jerks or special snowflakes.
