They tend to charge people before actually doing the work. And I do believe they're overcharging. I was not informed of the changes within the practice that occurred the year prior (after my last cleaning). I am extremely disappointed with this office. We scheduled this appointment 6 months ago, and when…read morewe arrived today, we were told they stopped accepting my children's insurance back in October. That means they had 5 full months to notify us and never did. Completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, the front desk experience was frustrating and unprofessional. The dark-haired receptionist asked if I was already a patient. When I said no, I questioned why that mattered--and she told me that if I was a patient, they would still see my children anyway. She then went on to say the dentist would basically use it as some sort of "write-off." That explanation made absolutely no sense and felt very questionable. We rearranged our schedule and waited months for this appointment, only to be turned away at the door with no prior notice and a confusing, dismissive explanation. Poor communication and unprofessional handling all around. I would not recommend this office.

Before my appointment I spoke with a woman over the phone that told me about the business own dental plan for 325.00 dollars it would cover my cleanings fillings etc for a year. When speaking on the phone I also explained I have an emergency and need work done ASAP being I cant even chew so I haven't ate in 2 days prior. Was reassured that during my consultation if something needed to be addressed it would be taken care of, no worries. Cool alright. Well. Appointment day comes up, I pay 325.00 upfront. Have a consultation, and NOTHING DONE to the severely broken tooth in the back. Was also told they dont offer sedation(website states otherwise). What a joke!!! I paid 325.00 dollars for 15% off of my visit?!?! I dont freaking think so. I might have been born at night but it wasn't any nights recently. Nice place the guy has, considering all hes doing is ripping ppl off. I didnt need to pay 325.00 bucks for some nimrod to tell me my teeth needed fixings! Im out 325 bucks and in extreme jaw, face and tooth pain!!! I cant even go to another dentist right now bc of my financial situation. I just cant believe I got played by some jerk! Needless to say if I want to go back there and have my tooth extracted that'll cost me another 380 bucks smfh and that's w my 15% off discount! I cant even give this place a star but i have to if i want ppl to see this review. As far as im concerned, Bull doze it and take their license to practice!!

I suppose I was born into this; my family has been going to Back Mountain Dental through a few name changes and the tenure of the previous dentist, so I've been lucky to have excellent dental care with a neighborhood-oriented staff. For instance, on my last visit alone, they saved me time, money and the frustration of anesthesia by salvaging part of a previous filling and not applying a product once we discussed more of my symptoms. No upselling, easy-to-understand and work with billing procedures, and the superpower to figure out any changes in your insurance with minimal effort (even though you put your new card in a 'safe' place). They treat you like family, but not the ones who are always running late; these guys stick to their schedule. And one added note, as one of my friends mentioned dreading their upcoming trip to their dentist: I think 'chairside' manner might be thrown to the wolves when considering dentistry, it seems optional. Doctor DeFinnis is as "cool as the other side of the pillow" when it comes to explaining things and helping you feel comfortable, relaxed, and optimistic about your plan, which isn't the norm, I guess. They'll encourage you to floss, have personalized recommendations and helpful suggestions but operate in a judgement-free zone.
