The name didn't exactly inspire confidence - neither did the fact that I got an appointment for the next day. But, the twenty Euros were already spent, so I took a deep breath, druecked my Daumen, and went in. When I saw my stylist, Doreen, I relaxed. A little. Chic, short, bleached hair? Check. Tatts? Check. All-black outfit? Check. This felt like familiar territory. The clincher came when we sat down for the consultation. She took the time to actually look at my hair before she washed and cut it, to get a better feel for its texture and shape. We then talked about what I like (over the ears, short nape) and what I don't (cowlick curls, heavy bangs/ponys). After a relaxing shampoo and head massage (bliss!), Doreen went all Edward Scissorhands on me. A snip here, a slice there, a spritz of Sea Salt Spray and a dab of Matt Paste and we were done. Perfection! I've been back 3 times since, and have been perfectly pleased with the results every time. No more "business trips" to London for a haircut; no more futilely trying to DIY my 'do with cuticle scissors; no more hiding under hats or headscarves. Thanks to Paco (whoever he may be) and Doreen, I am now follicularly fulfilled.

I had a wonderful experience at Hair by Paco…read more My stylist was Doreen, and she has made me believe once again that I can actually get a great haircut in Germany. I first tried another salon in Bonn when I moved here four months ago, but got only a so-so haircut. So, I looked on Yelp and found one review for Hair by Paco that gave it the highest marks. I visited the website, which was super professional, so I decided to give Hair by Paco a try. My hair is thick, wavy, and I wear it in a pixie cut -- a stylist really needs to know both thick hair and short hair very well to make this combo work. Doreen at Hair by Paco was that stylist. She took the time to talk to me about my hair, and really take time to understand my requests made in broken German. The hair wash/massage was amazing, and the cut itself turned out great! Doreen really listened to what I wanted, and did her best to make it happen. I would highly recommend this salon to others. I'm just bummed I'm moving just now that I've discovered this gem of a salon, and won't get a chance to go to see Doreen again.

I was in and out of the chair in around 20 minutes- much much faster than I get it at home even though my haircut is very simple. He even shaped my beard for free- it wasn't a trim per se, just making sure it "fit" with my haircut and evening out my cheeks with a straight razor. A nice touch and 10 euros all in- that's much cheaper than I pay at home (Calgary Canada) and that's at a barber shop, not this unisex friseur that you find all over Germany. According to their website, you need an appointment, but the only way to make one is to call or visit- I speak German serviceably so the former wasn't so bad, but the first number I called was the one list as "Mobil" and it was the wrong number so call the landline instead. I think it would be great if this salon and all barbers or whatever that require a reservation had an online system for it, but it's a small business and don't expect them to afford it. I had the same issue in Berlin on this trip.

I have rarely felt more welcomed than in this tiny salon full of people with big hearts. My wishes have been listened to (and understood despite my work-in-progress German). Cut and color have been meticulously and skillfully executed - with a genuine attention to details: thank you so much Holger and Nathalie. I love how I look, I loved the time I spent there, and will definitely be back. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment -- you'll be glad you did.

The salon still accommodated me and was able to get me in right away. I got a wash, haircut, and blowdry. Irini performed my haircut. It turned out a little shorter than I had expected, but her technique was good and I like the cut. She also was very friendly and made me feel at home. Antonio performed the drying part while simultaneously styling my hair. His hands were like magic. It looked like he was juggling the hair dryer, hair brush, and my hair. The result was great. I had straight hair with some body/volume. Usually, I don't like it when the salons style my hair because I feel that it turns out greasy and flat. My hair turned out great and lasted all day. The total for the wash, cut, and style was 35 euros. Great price too! The outside and inside of the salon has cute decor as well. Kind of a hipster vibe.

Absolute worst haircut of my life. I cannot believe it. The woman who cut my hair (who owns the…read morestore) was so ridiculously careless. She didn't seem to use any sort of hairdressing technique (which I am used to) and just chopped off hair as she pleased and as fast as she could. I kept asking her to not cut off too much, and yet she still did. She didn't do anything I asked for properly and got rid of my perm just because she didn't like it. I don't know if I got this terrible rushed service because I am a foreigner, but that's no excuse. And before my cut I specifically asked if I could talk in English and be able to get what I wanted and was assured that that would happen. It's not like I'm complaining because I tried to communicate in English to someone who only spoke German. She didn't even attempt to clean off the hair left on my face and neck afterwards! Talk about unprofessional. She could also see how upset I was during the cut and just kept telling me 'oh it looks good, okay I'll do this'. She just did what she thought was best and now I'm left with this shitarse haircut. I was too scared to ask her to try and fix it at the end because every time I did previously she wouldn't understand and just take off wayyy too much and then I would get even more upset. Also, at one point she actually asked me to hold my hair for her instead of using a clip. Just fucking ridiculous.

After reading DomingoJamon's review on here about Jags Hair Douglas I thought I would give it a go…read moreas my German is pretty substandard, and a haircut is not something you leave to the hands of someone you HOPE has understood you (now dont get me wrong, I know this is my problem in Germany,,,,but a girl still needs a haircut!). So I tripped off down on a saturday morning and was pleasantly suprised. I would never call it a cosy salon, its got a kinda of industrial pregnancy to it, there are remants of previous concepts that could turn into new concepts, but its got a funkiness to it that doesnt come from a vogue magazine. The music was great, and almost wanted to ask for a soundtrack to my haircut. Also it is not like one of the haircutting production lines that are oh so commone, there were three chairs and at no point did i feel like I was being rushed through the experiencewhich when you consider the price you pay for a haircut these days is an important measure of value these days. My hair cut, well I think the team was very proffessional, and did a good job (although to their credit they were working with the grown out remnants of the worst haircut ive ever had!). Although the choice of colours was a little limited, they made excellent recommendations. And my favorite part of the experience was that I did not have to instruct the staff on how to cut my hair. I hate spending rediculous amounts of money on a hair cut for which I told the hair dresser exactly what they needed to dorather I sat down and said I wanted a short hair cut, fix the shape, redo the fringe and warm up the coloureasythat was the end of the converstation. Its hair dressers like that which make me feel justified in paying a tip.

Fortunately I was calmed down by Douglas and his able assistant Prunella, and after about 45 minutes of chat, and snipping diligently away - I started to not only look, but also feel human. Expecting to pay through the nose for an excellent haircut, I was pleasantly surprised to pay about half the price I normally pay in London. I now try and arrange my business in Cologne to coincide with a cut! The deco is individual - the atmosphere enjoyable and smiles seem to bounce off the walls. Together with some good music from the past and present, I left the shop looking forward to the future. Thank you everyone at Jags.
