I have only been on a semi-vegetarian diet for a year, and if people ask me if I miss eating meat, I usually reply that I really don't since my diet has introduced me to a lot of new and much healthier options. While the exploring-new-discoveries part is very true, I think I may be fibbing a lot when I say that i don't miss meat. Especially pork. Especially Ming's lechonsilog, in all its porky, fatty, greasy and meaty goodness.
Ming's holds a very special spot in my heart because this little carinderia-slash-24/7 tapsilog joint that could, saved me when I was in the height of post-college transition poverty. I would scrounge a lot for loose change whenever money is hard to come by, and I would always somehow manage to come up with just enough to buy a lechonsilog, which is my absolute favorite from their menu. They take a parboiled pork belly and fry it until the skin blisters and the meat is almost dry and crunchy in the outside, but moist and heavenly inside. Writing about it now kinda makes me regret my decision, especially when I remember that salty pork goodness melding well with generous helpings of Mang Tomas Lechon Sauce. Their tapsilog is not bad, either. Also, they have a variety of turo turo options that you can order as a side to your tapsi meal.
Ming's also delivers if you are in the area, even if it's just a single order. I don't even have to go out of my house. I just have to text or call their number, which is on my phone's speed dial (up to now, a year after I moved to Quezon City). They also have a great breakfast buffet spread for P60, and you can feast all you want on tuyo, scrambled eggs, hotdogs, fried rice and your choice of coffee or juice. read more
