Glad I had the opportunity to attend this event via Yelp (also the media sponsor for the event)…read more For one night, under the roof of the Cyclorama - you'll find a majority of the South End restaurant powerhouses showcase their culinary skills to support a worthy cause "Aids Action Committee of MA". To top it off, unlimited wine from different regions to sample. The energy and vibe was awesome. All the volunteers I'd encountered were helpful and friendly. I had so much fun talking to the chefs and learning more about their restaurants. This was definitely a great way to get a sneak preview of the restaurants before booking dinner reservations. The restaurants were so generous with their portions and quantity. One cannot leave hungry and can even go back for seconds. Huge variety of options - fresh shucked oysters (Kitchen), thin crust pizza (Upper Crust), tuna and potatoe au gratin (Petit Robert Bistro), plaintain wrapped crabmeat/scallop (Orinoco), vegetable samosas (Mela), cupcakes (South End Buttery), whoopie pies (Flour Bakery) and chocolate chip cookies (Haley House Bakery). Aside from the food and wine tasting - there were other activities - silent auction, mystery gifts, wine ring toss and cooking demonstration (learned a couple tricks from Gordon Hamersley). Wrapped the night up with a mystery gift (6 bottles of wine from Whole Foods). Definitely looking forward to the next one!

The set up was great, similar to many events at Cyclorama friendly volunteers beckoned you in applying wristbands, taking tickets and coats and eventually giving you a plate. I might also note that the plate had a wineglass holder built in. Genius. I hate awkward events where I need to eat and hold a wineglass. At first I was nervous that as a vegetarian I would have one, maybe two choices out of all the wonderful restaurants. Luckily as we worked our way around the options were plentiful and amazingly delicious. The restaurateurs (is that a real word?) were friendly and their presentation was amazing. The winner in my mind was Picco, which made a fantastic "Adult Ice Cream Float" with a tart cherry lambic and what seemed like the creamiest vanilla ice cream I have had in quite some time. There was a lot of opportunities to continue supporting Aids Action Committee, everything from games like the Wine Ring Toss to a silent auction. They also had chef's do cooking presentations (guess who learned that its not that hard to make mayo, this guy). The only downside of the evening was it seemed like the wine tasting people were giving me dirty looks every time I saddled up for a refill. All in all an amazing event with some amazing food from the South End. Thanks again for hooking it up Damien/Yelp!

Been coming here for years, as everyone else has pointed out, it's conveniently located in DTX. When you walk in, you can buy prepared foods and sit down in a cafe, the main grocery store is in the basement. They have an excellent cheese section, snack section - so many different chips and crackers to choose from, and a fairly decent boxed cake section. They also have a lot of frozen items and other dairy products. I have purchased produce here but not very often. It wouldn't be my first choice - they don't have too great of a selection and it seems more expensive than WFs. They have a decent sized alcohol section but it's blocked off and you have to purchase alcohol in that section - no biggie tho. They have a variety of local beer and cider, which is nice. Near the checkout, they have the prepared foods, bakery, and meat counters. The items from the bakery case look decent but I have not tried them. The checkout line can be long sometimes but usually goes pretty fast. All in all, this a convenient location with lots of items to choose from. I'll def be back!

I've never been into cold mayo ones. This time we tried the cold mayo one and it was delicious. Changed my perspective about lobster rolls. This place has limited seating inside and some seating outside. I was bummed they didn't have french fries but it was fine. I took it togo so service wasn't something I could rate. Highly recommend these folks!

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by live crabs on display, which definitely adds to the experience. That said, it was surprisingly warm inside, so we opted to sit outside where there were plenty of tables and a much more comfortable breeze. Taking a look at the menu, the lobster rolls were... pretty steep. We decided to share one and round it out with a few sides--clam chowder, potato salad, a jumbo crab cake, and 2 cans of soda. For everything we ordered, the total came out to around $90, which definitely made us pause for a moment. Overall, I'm glad we went this route of sharing a The lobster roll, while decent, didn't quite justify the ~$40 price tag for its size. It felt more like we were paying for the location and "Boston experience" than the flavor itself. The standouts for me were actually the sides--the crab cake was flavorful with a nice texture, and the clam chowder was rich, creamy, and comforting. All in all, it checked the "first lobster roll in Boston" box, but I was very happy we only ordered one to share. Sometimes the touristy spots are more about the experience than the wow factor--and this felt like one of those moments.
