I have been to Colorado a handful of times but I did not know much about the history of the state. The Center is a great place to get the background you need. There are 4 floors of artifacts,exhibits, artwork, and displays. My favorite exhibit was ZOOM IN: 100 objects that represent the state. There is a cafe for onsite dining and a gift shop as well.

Visited this children's museum recently while exploring some cities north of us. Kids had a great…read moretime. Lots of different things to keep them busy including a big pirate ship, pulley chairs, art room, etc. I loved how they had some older telephones, switch boards, etc. so kids could actually experience some of these items not commonly used or seen today. It was fun to let them explore those and play with them. As a bilingual family, we appreciated how everything was presented in English/Spanish. I did feel like some of the displays were a little run down. Likewise the prices were steep, especially for adults. I really think since adult presence is required, it really shouldn't cost more than $3 per adult. Bathrooms were fairly clean. Place seemed stuck in the Covid era which I wasn't a fan of. Time to move on! This isn't the museum's fault but the day we went the kids there were a bit out of control and rude. That dampened our experience a little bit. They had a little area where families could sit and eat snacks. That was nice for taking a break, especially if you stay for a while. It was a fun one time excursion but I wouldn't return. We have a lot of fun places much closer to us that cost a lot less!

Steve Volt, the car buff and race driver has put together an elegant collection of cars with many of them having historical importance. You get to see so much in such a small space that it makes everything more visibly appealing. I love seeing antiques; it makes history come to life. There is also a theater room where they displayed videos of past fires. The bottom floor has an area towards the back where my boys were able to play. This made the trip worthwhile for them. They were able to dress up like firefighters, play on a firetruck, slide down a firepole, and a few other activities. They looked super adorable in the outfits! Of course as a mom, I took plenty of photos. (: Upstairs is a more intimate setting because it has information about past fires, 9/11, and displays of what life as a firefight was like. They also have a play area for kids with toy sand books. This was helpful to keep my boys occupied while I read and explored the museum at my own pace. When we went, it was vacant. I think only 2 other people came after us. I liked the quiet and serenity of everything. The amount of information given wasn't overwhelming. It was a short and sweet museum that we all enjoyed. We spent a total of 1.5 hours there. In addition, the price is extremely reasonable: $10 for adults and $8 for children. If you have kids, this is worth a visit!

This visit to the Denver Firefighters Museum is for one of my childhood friends, who blogs about…read morefiretrucks on Instagram and works as a 911 dispatcher in Tennessee. We had lots of time to kill before going to the convention center later in the day, so I suggested this museum to my parents when I found it during a random maps search around the city. And to all you parents out there, this museum could save your child's life in the event of a fire. Admission to get in was $9. Getting around the museum is kinda like being in IKEA, where they have footprints on the floor telling you where to go in order. This museum, which is in the shape of an actual fire station and has two floors, shows you the entire history of how and where the 911 dispatch system was first invented, types of firetrucks used over the years, how to dial 911 in case of a fire, where firefighters stay while on the job, and so forth. In the back on the first floor is an educational video of what to do if there's a fire. Upstairs there was so much more, we were shown firefighters' patches from almost every state, which stopped at Pennsylvania for some reason. I guess they're still collecting patches from Rhode Island all the way to Wyoming. I took pics of patches from Kentucky and Massachusetts (where my childhood friend used to live), Maine (where my dad is from), Nevada (where we live), and New Hampshire (where I was born and where my mom is from). It was very interesting seeing all the patches from each county and city in my state of residence. Replicas of dormitories where firefighters stay in while on the job were also shown, which I found very interesting. I took so many pics here but Yelp will only let me add 20 at a time. Don't forget to sign the guestbook upstairs and the survey downstairs before you leave! This was a very educational visit and we're very happy that we got a tour of this museum. They tell you a couple of times, but the house is HOT in the summer. The house is over 100 years old and doesn't have AC and they don't open the windows. Keep this in mind when purchasing tickets. Also because this house is over 100 years old it isn't very accessible. Doorways are narrow and the stairs are steep. With all that being said Margaret "Molly" Brown's house was beautiful. Her story is even better. If you don't know who she was outside of being a Titanic survivor then you're missing out on a lot of history. This museum deserves a spot on your itinerary.

The people working there were also very nice, but the interior didn't live up to the exterior. Rather than being an interesting house with the appropriate decor, it was more than anything a somewhat disheveled temple to the sufferance movement and Molly Brown's not unimportant part in it. The walls and even the furniture were covered with posters, boxes, and non-contemporaneous objects concerning her works. It was not what we had been expecting, as we'd thought it would be more of house displaying the arts, furnishings and overall elegance of the time.

The Broomfield Depot Museum is an interesting place to visit. The museum features the history and…read morefounding of the city of Broomfield from when it was just a small little rest stop named Zangs Spur in 1903 when travelers would travel from Denver to Boulder. Also included in the museum is the story of a dog named Shep that happened to wander in the then toll booth that was once installed on highway 36 back in the 1950s. The beloved dog became the mascot of the toll station and stayed there all his life receiving gifts and treats from toll attendants and passengers paying 25 cents as the toll charge to drive into Boulder. The best part is that the museum is free on Saturdays.

I flew into Denver Saturday morning and this was the first stop that I made. I didn't make a reservation as the last time I had checked they were not fully booked, and I also wasn't sure about any flight delays. Admission is $17 for adults. The staff working were incredibly knowledgeable and the history of the museum and it was a joy to listen to them and read more at the different exhibits. When my friend and I went, we were the only two there. I truly feel like this is a hidden gem to go and learn more about history. My friend has lived in Denver her entire life and she learned a lot!

I was visiting Denver and really glad I made this my last stop on my trip. Located in a historical home turned museum. Created by Paul Stewart who had a passion for collecting artifacts, photos & researching at libraries about the people that lived in this area. Such as Five Points a thriving Black community. Topics include, Black cowboys, that were vital to the area, Buffalo Soliders, Dr. Justina Ford and several other medical professionals that provided community health to those in need because they were unable to seek care at white establishments. The day I visited, I was greeted by Daphne, with a beautiful smile, and she gave some insight about the museum. She offered hand outs as well. Cost is $15 dollars entrance. And that's a steal to learn more about American history, not just Black history. It's a small place, but packs a lot of knowledge & history in a small space. You can really take your time and ask questions after if you like. Max it will take a 45 minutes to an hour to enjoy the museum, I did it in 30 minutes. You can go online to specify a time of your visit. I wasn't able to pay online, but Daphne ensures they are working on that. There's even book nook for purchases if so inclined.
