They checked my appointment and said I would start with the eyebrow mapping, but the tech was with someone, so told me to have a seat and she would come get me when she was done. I arrived early, so that was fine. I sat for 10 minutes, now 5 minutes after my appointment was due to start. A tech had come out and had someone pay, but didn't come get me, so I assumed she wasn't who would be doing my service. I continued to wait, then got up and looked at some of the items they have for sale. The tech was sitting at the front desk on her phone. She asked if I have an appointment, I said yes, for eyebrows, and she says "oh! That's with me!" Apparently it didn't occur to her that the person waiting was her client. The service was good. She mixed the tint too light the first time and offered to redo it, which I agreed to. After that, the nail tech greeted me and we sat down to do the mani portion of my mani-pedi. She complained that she'd done too many feet that day, so we would start with nails. She was helpful in assisting me with picking a colour. However she did not tell me that the one she suggested, which I accepted, was quite significantly more expensive than what I originally booked for, and I feel like an upcharge should be specified before performing the service. I got cat-eye polish, and that came with a "nail art" surcharge on top of the upcharge for that specific gel. I was also unsure about the sterility. She took the tools out of a plastic container with some liquid in it, not out of a sealed pouch or electric sterilizer. She suggested I do the same polish on my toes as well, and I knew I would be charged more for gel on the toes instead of a regular pedicure, but not by as much as it was. I also find that she rushed my pedicure as when I arrived home, I noticed that my toe nails were jagged and rough, and I had to file them myself, and I had a lot of dry skin still on my feet that I had to remove as well. What was originally booked as $135 (before tax) ended up being $195 (before tax), and none of that was ever told to me. The tech rushed, and mentioned several times how I'm the last client of the day and she'd had a long day. She was pleasant, not rude, she made conversation, very personable. But not impressed with the lack of transparency.

Initially we said 7, but after she said she would come after 9, I compromised for a 9am meeting (which was wrong of me in retrospect). However, a room full of people were there to vouch for the fact that I didn't not interrupt every five minutes as claimed. I asked to have a mirror to see what was going on and that's it. Then, once Natalia was done, I asked for more eyeliner several times to which she said "wedding makeup can't just be eyeliner, ok?!". So yes, I communicated a lot that what she doing wasn't the same as the trial but was ignored. As for the makeup being the same as the trial, if it were, I wouldn't have written this review since I actually loved the trial makeup. And we actually did not finish 'as scheduled' because despite me telling her that we needed to leave for 12:15 and have pictures taken before, she finished my makeup at 11:30 giving me only 40 minutes to get dressed, get pictures taken, and get to the limo. In any case, this is not a battle I want to fight. There are in fact many good reviews on Google, and mine is one simple negative one. This may be a miscommunication as mentioned, or it may be the fact that things actually went wrong. In any case, it's my word against Natalia's and I don't feel the need to justify further. It is what it is - however I do need to say that she emailed me asking me to take down my review for a refund, apologies, or free makeup in return - To clarify, this is not the purpose of my writing. The Vic Park gym and Vic Park Medispa are now separate entities from the Annie Young spa. This is a full service spa with manicure/pedicure, facials, massage, waxing, makeup and hair salon. It's a beautiful bright open space on the third floor with lots of natural light. They have a great selection of makeup, hair and skin care products available to buy, but there is never any pressure to buy anything which I really like. The staff are outstanding, they are all very good at what they do, I have never had a bad service here. I haven't tried everything but I have had manicures, pedicures, makeup and hair done here. Everyone is incredibly pleasant, and the co-owner Charlene is often around and is a real delight to talk to. A minor thing - if you are here for a manicure in the winter, wear a sweater, the stations are next to the big windows and can get chilly. The prices are on the higher side but in line with what similar salons will charge and given the quality of the treatments are definitely worth the money. Annie Young is an awesome spot for all your primping needs. Highly recommended.

We expected 2 working staff members, one for each of us, but she decided to take us both on, though she said it would take 45 mins max when we called her. While we were there, she was also taking care of another lady, while we're having our first coat dry out. Once she left, another came in to complain about her shellac that was chipping already. Needless to say we were there for 2 hours, and pretty exhausted from listening to her boast about how good she was, making it seem like she knew her business. Meanwhile she also took personal calls, and when she had clients, we found out the truth about putting the person on hold. She would say that she was looking for her agenda, putting the client on hold, while actually finishing off my mom's nails. Pretty sure we had the same happen to us. To top it off, my shellac started chipping the same day and by the time I was in Cuba the following day, it had vanished in the ocean as they all started peeling away. We had an excruciatingly long and painful experience here, would only recommend to a masochistic idiot.
