For those like me who like clip ons but know nothing about the cutting procedure and the sewing…read morepart i'd like to say WATCH OUT!! When i went to MAMA AFRICA i really liked the welcoming smiles and the help i received. I asked how much it would be for my extensions to be sewn with the clips i had bought at the same beauty store and they said 40 tax incl. My inner voice said to me..."Better get it done proffesionally than messing with the beautiful expensive extensions." I payed the fee at back where the unisex salon is situated and the girl who did my hair said to return in an hour. I left and came back 15 minutes earlier than expected and found my extensions on a chair tangled up with one another, and when i checked the sewing i was not satisfied. The sewing was DISGUSTING!! I guess she was able to read my unhappy facial expression and said to me that there was no need for me to be so careful about my extensions that i was funny and that i was just a begginer to all this. Not that happy i walked away, my mistake was to not have checked them all, i only ended up checking 2 rows out of 4. When i arrived home, i tried them on and that's when i realized that 2 of them were undoing (the hand stitching) so, to stop the thread from undoing i took the strings and made a nod. I placed it in my hair thinking that i had fixed the major problem, as i'm putting it into my hair i found out that the clips were not well secured, they were not firm as it should have been and they kept poking outwards, they weren't holding on to my hair and the WORSE, the last row was way TOO BIG lengthwise for my head. Right at that moment i called their number and explained the situation to them, they said come back and we'll fix it for you. The next day i went to their store, the girl who had done the POOR job on my extensions came to defend herself and brought me to the salon to place them on me. When 2 of the rows were clipped in my hair, the clips were poking out and it was so visible. I showed her how they were poking out and that It wasn't suppose to do that! She than replied " what are you saying, it's well secured there's nothing going on there!" she got annoyed left me in front of everyone and right away went up front to the cashier, when i caught up to her i heard her talking about me to the cashier and to spice things up she also did it in front of the other customers (which were a lot let me tell you!). Another employee came, and luckily she was there because she took a look at me and she explained to me that the clips i had bought were not that great for my hair (Mistake they made because the hairclips were given me, i was not brought to see no clips.) She saw it poking out and she said yeah i see what you mean and it's not that great that it's poking out, so she decided to resew it herself. I had asked for a reimboursement but they didn't want to lose out on their 40 i had given the incompetent woman who did my sewing. To finish off this horrible experience i stayed close to the girl that was doing the sewing to check it out myself and not to have a bad surprise for a second time. During the time the other employee was fixing my extensions i saw the same first girl who did the sewing on my extensions cutting through a new clients extensions and sewing it. That's when i said to myself, " f*** they really stole my money, i could of done it myself and gotten a good end result. I know that many get scared to mess with their extensions like i was, but if you already know how to use clip on extensions and know the placement of each row than its all a matter of measuring your length cutting them, doing them singled folded or 2 layers together to get more volume adding the clip and sewing them together, the thread used is called weaving or weave hair thread and the needle i used was a small head needle. Advice: before you purchase your clips make sure you check which ones are better for your hair, just because i'm not black doesn't mean i'm stupid and that i don't know anything about sewing or extensions and it really offended me that they tried making it seem that there was no biggie with my clips poking out and they literally said to my face that they didn't have time to waste and that they had other customers. I understand them but they must understand as well that when their clients whether they are black, europian, , italian or any other nationality they must be helpful to them and satisfy them with the same efficiency they please their own people. Please BE CAREFUL at the moment i purchased what i needed they all became sort of unfriendly, unwelcoming and rude! Two employees were very nice and honest both of them noticed how big it was for my head the last row and one of them cut off the excess and re-sewed it. The untalented lady's name who did the sewing is Madie and only speaks french. Good luck to all
