I've always wanted to find a therapist who I felt really took the time to understand me while also being thoughtful enough to highlight patterns/insights about myself that I might not be noticing. With other therapists I tried (I went to about 4-5 other people), I always left the sessions feeling really neutral. As in I didn't feel like my previous therapists took the time to understand ME and instead gave me more generic advice that could apply to anyone. Brittany is not like that at all! She remembers the little details, and points out patterns/behaviors/things that I do all the time and I find myself having so many ah-ha moments with her. I always look forward to our sessions because I can't wait to get her nuggets of wisdom and comfort in helping me through both the small struggles and the big ones. I truly am so grateful to have found Brittany. If you're usually picky about who you want to work with, then she is your person. She is completely worth it and someone I will go to for as long as possible :]

Not that I need to get in a pissing contest with you about your stuff, but let's say at least 80th percentile bad stuff, here. Now, I knew for a few years that seeing a therapist would be a good idea. I wanted to gain some peace from all that stuff, and sort out how to better relate to other people without past demons getting in the way. I had no idea how I would get there. Or how it would be possible. Or even that it was possible. But that, folks, is why you pay for professional help. Brittany is most certainly professional. This is someone who knows what the hell she's talking about, and more importantly, what you're talking about. Often I've found she understands my motivations and reactions before I do. Crucially, Brittany is not afraid to call you out on your bullshit. Not in a confrontational or hostile way, but she will assert a different perspective when she sees one. Which is awesome, since this helps change patterns of thinking. And that's been the whole pattern of my work with her: getting help reconfiguring my brain, updating my perspectives and ensuring I see the larger context of how I act, feel and think. From the beginning, Brittany set herself apart by pointing out that she didn't want to milk my checkbook for years and years. In the space of just a few months, I've enjoyed a huge improvement in my sense of self and well-being. All without wallowing endlessly in bad memories and past traumas. Though the past provides useful context, the bulk of our work together has concerned the here-and-now. Which is great, since that's where you can actually change things. This is way beyond what my limited expectations would have allowed. So get off your ass and get to work on yourself, if that's what you need, and see if you like Brittany. She helped me with some things I've been trying to figure out for quite some time. Of course she helped with the main challenges of ADHD too. As for Adam, I appreciated his openness for discussion of various medications. He seems very understanding and knowledgable. Finally, as for the practice in general... I don't know if this is a standard in US, but I enjoyed the self-report forms I was sent before the first visit. This made the first visit much smoother. I also like how versatile both Adam and Karla are in terms of modern technology: I liked the fact that they are easily accessible through online messaging, and through video, if needed. Small room for improvement is the location: it would be nice if they invested in a water cooler and drinking cups. Also, the building is a bit beaten down, but I guess anything else would be far more expensive in downtown SF :) All in all - I highly recommend them for anyone who thinks, or struggles, with ADHD. I'll be visiting them again on my next trip.

I started going to see Kay around April 2019 for stomach pain and associated back pain (that would…read morenot go away after trying everything with my doctor) after reading how hypnosis can help with pain management. I liked Kay right off the bat! She's gives off a very calm and friendly vibe and is wonderful to talk too. I enjoyed our sessions a lot. Talking through my issues was nice and getting her take was helpful. The sessions were very relaxing as well. What I regret was not taking the audios seriously. I should have listened to them every day to get the benefit but I neglected that. I think that was why I didn't really think hypnosis was fully for me. It helped but not as much as I hoped. Forward to April 2020. I got infected with Covid in March and was dealing with many symptoms that would not go away. One of them was horrible acid reflux. I've had acid reflux in the past but this was 20x worse! Diet and medicine weren't helping and Kay texted me to check in with how I was doing (perfect timing!). I figured why not try hypnosis again and see. We had our session via FaceTime. I really liked doing it via FaceTime bc I could do it from the comfort of my couch or bed. No looking for parking or driving to SF. I stopped the medicine but continued to eat GERD friendly and listened to the audio we made 3x a day. My acid reflux went away! I just had to be diligent. I then developed another covid symptom a week or so later which was horrible headaches and nerve pain. I had another session with Kay and my symptoms improved. A couple of weeks later I stated having chest pains and heart palpitations, which is think was because I was too plugged into social media surrounding covid. My anxiety went through the roof. I could not stop being anxious. It was really really bad. My heart was racing so much all day. I had a session yesterday and I'm already feeling less anxious. My heart rate is going back to normal and I'm so grateful to Kay. I was considering taking anxiety meds and but I'm glad I tried Kay first. I think it's a combination of talking it through with Kay and doing the therapy that really helped. She really is amazing at what she does and I recommend her to anyone dealing with either physical or mental issues.

About two years ago, I was diagnosed with complex PTSD by multiple medical professionals, after my…read morebody slowly broke down from not treating it: I was throwing up, I couldn't stand because of back pain, I was having panic attacks, I wasn't sleeping. I was in the ER and terrified. For roughly 18 months, I saw a traditional talk therapist/psychiatrist twice a week and made good progress to a point. I would say for what she does, my old psychiatrist is the best in San Francisco. That said, I cycled through many prescription medications, to the point that I was taking 6 different prescription medications on any given day. Then I reached a point where I felt that all of my "issues" were out on the table in wild technicolor, but I just wasn't actually moving through them, or at least not very quickly. This is where Connie comes in. A woman I met at a trauma retreat at Green Gultch highly recommended EMDR so I thought I'd give it a try, even though I was a little bit wary of such a new methodology (I've been a classic therapy girl since college). My old therapist recommended Connie (thank GOD!) In my short 9-months with Connie, I've been able to do a complete 180 in my life. I have experienced nothing like my work with Connie to truly integrate and move through my conditioning, traumas, and self-limiting beliefs. And now, just 9-months after starting with Connie, I am no longer taking medications, I have left my soul-crushing job, and have achieved true peace in my life, work, and relationships. I have seen Valerie for EMDR therapy with tremendous success. My first "round" was back in 2021…read more(only ended up needing 4 sessions) and when I was done I actually stopped going to my individual therapist that I had been seeing for 3 years. The amount of relief EMDR with Valerie has provided me is absolutely priceless. After having a baby in 2022, a lot of other things resurfaced and I reached back out to do another "round" of EMDR. This time with similar efficiency and outcomes. We discovered so many revelations that I have never once had come up in any individual or couples therapy I've been to over the years. Overall I had a wonderful (and life changing) experience with Valerie and highly recommend her. I am able to keep my depression in check (I can't take meds for it), I am less anxious and stressed, and all of my relationships (especially my marriage) are better off because of the work I've done with Valerie. Valerie is one of the best listeners, understanding, and so incredibly sharp and insightful. I've referred friends that have had great experiences as well. If you're on the fence, just do it, my only regret is not doing it sooner. If you think it's too pricey, just think to yourself how much you would pay to not be feeling X anymore, or how much months of talk therapy/divorce costs... I'm pretty sure the answer is MUCH more than what you would pay for these sessions!
