Since my original review, Manny, the owner, escalated in ways I feel future patients should be aware of.
I requested that Mindscape Counseling send progress notes to my employer as part of a leave/accommodations process. Instead, they sent a termination/discharge letter, which I did not request and which did not reflect the documentation I asked for.
In their written response to a complaint, the clinic further stated that I was pursuing a "fraudulent disability claim." This accusation was made despite my disability relating to documented illness and could risk my job.

I experienced ongoing billing and administrative issues related to services billed through an EAP and insurance, including confusion around authorization codes and payment responsibility. Despite providing authorization information, I was repeatedly contacted about billing and asked to resolve issues that should have been handled internally between the provider and insurer.
In early December, my services were discontinued by the practice. Weeks later, I received a termination document that contained information and characterizations that did not align with prior communications. I was also informed that my request for progress notes would not be honored and was instead offered a discharge summary only.
I requested my progress notes specifically for continuity and administrative purposes. My request was denied on the basis that the practice believed it might be used for legal reasons, despite this being a standard type of record request.
Additionally, documentation submitted to my insurance listed the practice owner as my treating provider, even though I never met or spoke with him and received services from other clinicians. This discrepancy required follow-up with my insurance company to clarify.
Communication from the practice was often late at night and felt unnecessarily adversarial for what should have been a straightforward administrative process.
Overall, the lack of clarity, inconsistent explanations, refusal to provide routine records, and escalation of what should have been simple billing and documentation issues made this a stressful and time-consuming experience. I hope the practice improves its administrative transparency and record-handling processes in the future. read more
