My Doctor at Mindpath was great Nita Paintal. I saw her for a few years and never had any issues. I had to leave because they were not going to accept my insurance anymore. My complaint is for the billing department. I guess I owed them $33. I did not know. Two years go by and I get a collection notice. Why did they never contact me and let me know that I owed them money? Very simple thing to do. read more

I do not like to leave negative reviews but the quality of care here is severely lacking especially when caring for the mental health of others. To refill medication is a battle every month. To speak to a person takes over 45 minutes and even if you do speak to a person, your needs might not be met or they will just disconnect you. read more

I only talked to a nurse practitioner on a tele- visit. Pam Valardi- I'm surprised she's still working and hasn't been reported . The rudest, most condescending person I have ever spoken to. She doesn't listen, fast diagnoses - I was not depressed, she wanted me to take antidepressants! No, I simply wanted something for the times I get anxious, just a low dose to take the nervous edge off. She said I had ADD in the first 10 mins on the phone! Her license should be taken. Pamela Velardi has been treating me for many years now. She is an amazing provider who listens to my needs and has helped me to feel better for the first time in many years. She is an excellent provider. My one complaint is about the Office Staff. They are very rude when you call in. They seem inconvenienced by having to book appointments, I just wish I could get to Pamela without dealing with those gate keepers. Please don't let the nasty office staff taint your view of the Service you will get with Pamela! She will help you in ways that I didn't know was possible. read more

ZERO STARS!!! It is a disgrace and danger to the Mental Health community to allow Pamela Velardi to practice any form of patient care. I first encountered Pam on July 21st for a phone assessment referred by my primary care physician. After taking Remeron for several years, I have gained a significant amount of weight and I needed to change the medication, hopefully to go back to Celexa, which I had taken in the past and had found relief in. For the past 23 years I have had intense therapy/counseling and psychiatric treatments in which I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. During the assessment, Pam asked me a series of questions regarding what I am experiencing, my personal history and my family history. Less than 10 minutes into the assessment she stated that she thought I was Bi-Polar. I was shocked that she would even make an assumption like this so quickly! I expressed to her that I never received this diagnosis in the past and that even my therapist for the last 6 years, did not make this diagnosis and he would be most familiar with my Mental Health and such a severe Mental Illness would have been impossible to overlook. I also shared with her that I also work in the Mental Health Field and I know I am not Bi-Polar! She went on to say specifically that she thought it was Bi-Polar 2 and accused me of being Manic! Pam continued to ask questions not allowing me to give any explanations to the questions which in and of itself is highly dangerous and can easily lead to a misdiagnosis. The practice of these type of "quick assessments" should be discontinued and a real evaluation of the patient which would include therapy, in person observations and mental health testing would better conclude a more accurate diagnonsis. I felt that Pam did not take time to really hear what I was saying, but instead, was aloof, cold, disconnected and dismissive of any information I tried to provide. Instead of acting with empathy and compassion, and using communication skills like repeating information back to the patient, she twisted everything I was saying causing a misalignment of facts. Even if I was Bi-Polar there is a way of telling a patient of their diagnosis- you do not just blurt it out like she did without any grace or sensitivity. That is called common sense and something you learn quite quickly in any medical field. However, it is obvious her training is completely amiss. She is haughty, judgmental, unprofessional and has zero bedside manner. She was unapologetic, uncaring, inappropriate and rude in manner and speech. I can't imagine how much damage Pamela Velardi has done to the lives of those who have been subjected to her practice. Pamela Velardi is a danger to the Mental Health Community and her ability to practice medicine should be immediately investigated. read more

I'm posting this review specifically for DR KOELLE. He is the WORST PSYCHIATRIST EVER. I need to leave this review to warn others. My husband started seeing him early this year and he is the most careless doctor ever!! What's wrong with him. The two/three sessions we went to were completely useless. (Due to Covid the other 2 were via face time.)He didn't even want to see him on weekly basis. All he wanted to do was prescribe medicine. We wanted my husband to get actual therapy from a psychiatrist. His sessions were abruptly short. Not really trying to find the root of the problem or find him ways to cope. Then he just keep upping the dose and adding more meds. When my husband made him aware of suicidal thoughts HE DIDNT EVEN CARE OR TAKE ACTION. Which almost costed my husbands life and that is NOT ACCEPTABLE. I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW DR. KOELLE CAN HAVE A LICENSE AND BE SO NEGLIGENT. I WILL BE REPORTING YOU!! WHATEVER YOU DO, AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS. USELESS COLD JERK WILL TRY TO NUMB YOU WITH MEDS AND RUIN YOUR LIFE. Fyi, my husband got help from an actual good psychiatrist. Mental healthcare isn't a joke, but PCSD treats it with the seriousness of a joke. Horrifying testament to the lack of decent mental healthcare. I have "good" health insurance yet this is where the doctors at sharp refer you. When I called the phone line it didn't feel like a legitimate organization. That is because this place is poorly organized (no doubt underfunded) and overbooked. And yet the providers are (borderline?) incompetent. Dr. Zeidman was 30 minutes late to our 50 minute appointment and didn't so much as apologize. He was rude and tactless, coming off as judgmental and cold. He basically told me to stop feeling sorry for myself and read a book. 20 minutes later I was kicked out and, of course, charged my copay. This "doctor"s horrible attitude as a therapist did more harm than good. It's like a MD saying to stop being a wuss and just wait for the meds to kick in, EXCEPT that mental health requires more than just reading a book. It takes introspection, personal growth, time to heal, changes in patterns of behavior over time with reinforcement and support, etc. etc. Dr. Zeidman was horrifyingly incompetent. Beware. I later went for a consult about medication to a different nurse and doctor and was told things that made my general medicine doctor say "what?? Who told you that?" They said that with regards to pregnancy, Prozac could be stopped cold turkey if a person found out they were pregnant, but Zoloft couldn't. I was asked whether I drank when on Prozac for years and I said yes, and it had been fine. The nurse intelligently pointed out I wouldn't be able to drink anyway if I were pregnant. Gee, you think? There is a bit of a difference between deciding to have kids and giving up alcohol completely while pregnant and nursing versus deciding to take Prozac for the rest of my life and giving up alcohol. So, basically, my regular doctor and my gyno had more correct and reliable info than these clowns. So in short, every person working at PCSD I have encountered has been either useless and incompetent or actually actively counterproductive and unreliable. They are basically there to take your insurance money because then the system can claim they are providing mental healthcare. It's a sad state of things. I have seen decent psychiatrists in Orange County and San Diego through UC, but now that I'm out of the UC system I am dismayed at the lack of quality mental healthcare. Not just dismayed, disgusted. I guess the only other option is to pay for other service elsewhere. Which is no doubt exorbitantly expensive. read more

Giving this business 2 stars because I have been unsuccessful in actually scheduling an appointment. The first call started all right - scheduled a callback, got the call a few minutes later. Found a time, started giving information... and the call got dropped. I'd just given her my phone number, so I figured she could contact me to resume scheduling the appointment! Nope. No call. So I called back. I unfortunately didn't have the name of the first person I talked to, so after trying to figure out if I was in the system somewhere I then asked the scheduler I was talking to if she could schedule an appointment for me. She sighed, said she could, then gave me the "my computer's acting up. I'm going to put you on hold, but if it gets cut off call back" phrase. So, predictably, I got cut off. I called back. No one answered, so I scheduled a callback. A few minutes later I got a call, but when I answered no one was on the other side, and after about 20 seconds the call ended. Waited again for a call back, but no. This is what happens when you grade your call center for F'ing PSYCHIATRIC CARE on handle times. If the support staff acts like this I'm not going to trust the doctors. read more

I recently met with Pamela Velardi at Psychiatric Centers in La Mesa. After expressing to her that I have been on a treatment plan for about a decade and I am just looking for continuity of care, she became very condescending. She listed and overstated statistics about the medication I have been taking in order to scare me away from them, and she told me that I am "not worth her medical license". Without going into too much more detail, she made me feel uncomfortable about my weight (I am very underweight). She had no interest in reviewing the documentation I brought from my previous doctors, and she even implied that I may have forged them. She was also clearly very unhappy to be in the office. She frequently complained about the number of voicemails she still had to listen to, and it was clear she was irritated that she had to stay in the office after 5pm. I have been to plenty of psychiatrists over the last decade or so, but I have never left an office feeling bad about myself as I did after speaking with Pamela. My recommendation is to seek care elsewhere, if your insurance allows. read more

This is the first time that I have ever gone out of my way to write a Yelp review for a negative experience, but I can honestly say that giving one star for this review is actually generous. Do not go here. And especially, do not see Pam Velardi. Frankly, she should not have her license at this point. My appointment with Pamela took three months of waiting to get to, and I was being rushed the entire time. At first, she was already being condescending and impatient, but I chose to ignore that for most of my appointment. She kept cutting me off from my answers, telling me "we only have (x) minutes left, hurry up", and literally snapping her fingers at me. She would not let me fully answer her questions, but then would get upset at me for not answering her questions right. Because she never let me explain my symptoms in the way I needed to, she attempted to diagnose me with around five different medical diagnosises (i.e. schizophrenia, bipolar, etc) without any reason to go off of. She wanted me to stop taking all the medicine that my primary doctor prescribed me, start taking medicine she would give me for a possible misdiagnosis, and share all of my personal records with her. Toward the end of the interview, I began to ask her if she could not cut me off and let me explain. She was upset that I was getting emotional over the way she was acting towards me and instantly deemed that I have bipolar disorder. At that point, I ended the call and will not be continuing to see her at all. Long story short: Please save yourself the time and money by staying away from this NP. Otherwise you will end up with quick diagnoses (that may not be true) on your record as well as an overall traumatic experience. read more

This was my first visit to this psychiatrists' group. I called over a month ago to book this appointment as my insurance had changed. I came in at 10:15 to fill out paperwork as per instructed. I was called twice in the last 3 days to confirm my 10:30 appointment. When I arrived, I was handed paperwork and turned over my insurance card. At 10:30 I was being told my insurance was not verified, though I had to provide it to them when I initially booked the appointment over a month ago. So, again I wait. Then I am told they left me a voicemail yesterday about my insurance. Funny, no voicemail or missed call. At 10:45, 15 minutes past my appointment time, the nurse practitioner called my name. I asked if they were done confirming my insurance, and that I had to be at work by noon. She looked at me and said "I don't know I'm not involved in that." Um, what? So I sit back down, it's now 10:50. Surprise, surprise, my insurance is verified! I verified my insurance when I got it in Feb. Again, the nurse practitioner calls me. So I walk through the door to the hallway, she is behind me now. As I proceed into the hall, she says, "you can close the door behind you." Obviously at this point I'm confused, so I close it. "Turn around and go into the first door on the right." And she just stands there staring at me. So, I walk in. There are 3 chairs and as I go to pick one, I'm told I am to sit in a different one. She tells me my appointment was at 11, that I was wrong, and they will need to get my medical history, and after her "assessment" of my, a board certified psychiatrist would then sit in, and I might be done in an hour. I specifically booked 10:30 as I had work at 12. Was never told they needed my medical record, which they could have asked for a month ago. I asked, "do you always talk down to psychiatry patients?" She said, "you can see someone else and book a new appointment." I said forget it and that I was never going to see anyone there again. Then I got to wait 5 minutes to get my paperwork back. In the elevator, another patient said she couldn't believe how rude the nurse practitioner was to me and that it was uncalled for. Do not make an appointment here. If you already go here, I'm sorry. Avoid Pamela Veraldi at all costs. Any place that employees people like this should be avoided. read more

PLEASE AVIOD THIS PLACE AT ALL COST (La Mesa) I have the worst experience here ever. The receptionist was just okay but the nurse practitioner (Lisa) was out of the world rude. I was the patient who paid for the service yet it seemed the other way around. 1. The nurse practitioner did not even try to introduce herself and just directed me into her office. I did not feel welcome at all. 2. The entire time it didn't seem like she was paying attention and instead, she was looking for stuff from her handbag, walking around at the office, doing her own things. 3. As mentioned above, since she didn't pay attention, she came up with all sort of other comments that were unrelated to my current situation and not helpful in any way. 4. Her unprofessional comments and suggestions just left me with anxiety after the office visit. For example, she mentioned how ESA (emotional support animals) are just pets and they don't provide any services or benefits to people. She also does NOT seem to know the difference between a service dog and a ESA. I was indeed surprised by her lack of knowledge given her occupation. Not only did I waste my time and money, but I also can't put in words how stressful I felt after the visit. read more

I had to schedule an appt 7 months out to see Krystle Briese at the La Mesa office for child/family therapy. I emailed my paperwork. I received a text 2 days before appt confirming. Day of appt, I try to login using link and it doesn't work. I called and was told it was canceled due to not turning in paperwork. I told her I did email paperwork and then suddenly they were able to find it. My slot was given away so I could no longer see the therapist. After 7 months of waiting, they wrongfully cancel my appt without even telling me!! This place just makes your life worse, not better. This isn't the only crappy thing they did, it's just the worst one. Do not go here if you're struggling with mental health. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. They have canceled appointments on me without notice (i've driven all the way down to the office only to find out that it's canceled), and have had me wait up to an hour past my appointment time to see the doctor. I can't recall one time where I was actually seen at the time I was supposed to be seen. Dr. Zeidman doesn't listen to any concerns or requests I have, he just asks the same questions that are not relevant to my anxiety and gives me a prescription. My physician referred me to this place for an evaluation. I waited 45 minutes on hold and got disconnected three times before I finally was able to make an appointment. The soonest anybody could see me was 4 months from now! God forbid I was in crisis, or had a serious mental health problem....I would be completely SOL. Of the 4 different people I spoke to (before getting disconnected by 3 of them), only one even bothered to apologize for what I was going through. The rest acted so condescending, it felt as if they were doing me a big favor by even answering the phone. Obviously, I haven't actually seen anyone yet, but if the reception I got trying to make an appointment is any indication, I have no reason at all to trust in the competency, professionalism, or caring of anyone in this practice. read more

Absolutely worse experience I've ever had. I went in to get my depression checked. Saw Velardi. First impression was I was amazed at how incredibly messy her office was. Total disaster. She then spend a couple minutes digging through the various piles of mess to find a pamphlet questionnaire to ask me a few questions. After that questionnaire, she determined that I was bipolar. In less than 5 minutes. She then walked me down the hall to Dr. Zeidman's office, where he just pulled out an old calendar, and proceeded to ask me if I've heard of each of the 12 famous people on the calendar, followed by he/she is bipolar. Then Velardi gave me Lithium and that was it. I was in and out in 15 minutes with a serious diagnosis. After much research, I've determined that I do not fit any of the symptoms for bipolar. On top of that, because of that diagnosis, I can no longer do the career I've been training for as a bipolar diagnosis disqualifies me. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I have had a great experience with PCSD La And Mission Valley. I have new had a problem with either office changing, cancelling, or schedule an appointment. In fact, I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Paintal earlier than January because I was having a problem. The only complaint I have with the LA Mesa office, is that they don't let you know that Dr. Paintal is running late. Which is not a good thing because I may have another appointment scheduled and will be late for my other. Dr. Paintal has been treating me for almost 6 years and she has helped me a lot. So has Dr. Vencil at the Mission Valley office. They both care about their patients. read more

I just did a video visit with Pamela Velardi. I could not believe how incredibly disrespectful she is and wonder why she bothers being in this field. How can someone who deals with mental health issues be so judgmental, rude and abrasive? I provided my experience with Kaiser, and her response was I find that hard to believe. She asked me questions from her checklist, and if I offered more information, she cut me off saying I am going off topic and need to stick to the questions. Every time I answered, she wrote whatever it was down and would slam her pen onto the desk. She prescribed me a medication I had never heard about before, so I told her that. Rather than telling me about the medication, she said well I know what it is and I prescribe it all the time. I cut the appointment early because there is no way I would ever want to work with her again. PCSD, how is Pamela still employed after the multiple complaints against her? I will be going to the licensing board because she does not need to be in the field of helping people with mental health issues. read more

After a LOT of support and encouragement, I finally took a step to help myself and my mental health. And I'm kinda sorry I came here for my first ever therapist session. My appointment was at 4pm, but since I'm a new patient, I was required to be there a half hour prior to fill out paperwork. Fine. I left work early and headed all the way up to La Mesa (I work in downtown SD); I was on time. The building looks ok from the outside, but not so much once you're in the elevator. The elevator permit was expired, but it's ok because there's a letter taped to it stating that the new permit is on its way. The waiting reception for PCSD - La Mesa looks like it's stuck in the 90's. Everything is old. The receptionists are nice, which is a plus. I filled out the paperwork, which took me about 20 minutes. I then waited until 4:30pm to be called in by the nurse practitioner. She apologized for my wait. She was very obviously flustered and seemed to be overworked. She did her thing and said that the doctor had to approve my treatment plan before we could proceed. At this point, It's nearing 5pm and I have to get going due to prior commitments. I wait to see the doctor himself for another 10 minutes or so. I let the receptionist know that I had to wait an extra half hour and I can't keep waiting because I needed to leave by 5pm. She apologizes and thanks me for waiting; she said that they've been paging the doctor, but he's still with a patient. Well, I guess. The nurse practitioner calls me back in. I let her know that I live in North Park, work in downtown, and I can't come all the way to up La Mesa. She understood and suggested I try their Mission Valley location. She gives me their phone number and suggestions on who I can ask for to see for therapy. I ended up needing to leave without seeing a doctor. read more

I left a full-length review on their Rancho Bernardo page, but the bottom line is that PCSD is terrible. I'm urging everyone with issues with the company to file a grievance with their insurance company so maybe we'll have better mental health options in the future. A few of my biggest complaints: Having to wait six weeks for an appointment with a therapist and then another two months for a follow up appointment. Having a nurse practitioner tell me to "get over it" when I told him about something that was bothering me. Having a psychiatrist tell me I couldn't have insomnia medication right now because I'll be trying to get pregnant in a month from now and she doesn't seem to understand how pregnancy works. read more
