After injuring my feet during a wonderful vacation in Disneyland in February and March and 6 months after thinking my feet might get better, I decided to see the doctor. My podiatrist recommended Physical Therapy to help treat my Posterior Tibial Tendonitis. I tried to get in to see as recommended a UW Physical Therapist, but was going to have over a month wait at any of their locations. I then remembered my boss being seen by Jessica at Mindful Motion and she thought they were great, so I called to see if I could get an appointment. Nathan was able to schedule an appointment for me with Jessica for the next day. Jessica and Nathan were friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable and were able to dedicate a full hour to me on each visit. I was delighted to be able to continue my treatment at Mindful Motion and even recommended them to my Physician at UW Health as well as my co-workers. Jessica was patient and diligent as was I with my treatment and homework (doing my exercises) and after 3 months of hard work I was released on a need to be treated basis. I was worried how I would do with a very busy Holiday season ahead of me, and me having to be on my feet for 10-12 hrs a day. I am happy and sad to say that I have not had to go back in after an extremely busy holiday season. I enjoyed my bi weekly visits with Nathan and Jessica, but have learned life long exercises to keep the strength in my muscles, and to keep from wearing orthotics. read more

My daughter (an undergrad at UW-M) suffered an ACL tear in Madison last spring, and received surgery in Philadelphia at the end of the summer. Because of the timing, she needed to get back in school a week after her procedure and begin PT immediately thereafter. Our medical insurer (Blue Cross PA) listed Mindful Motion as in network along with a few other local providers -- I did research on-line and chose MM based on (1) positive Web presence and (2) a great name (!!!) which was consistent with our philosophy about rehab. I contacted Nathan, who was extremely helpful in getting my daughter set up even though we were doing this at a distance. Sarah's experience has been outstanding. Jessica has utilized the protocol outlined by our surgeon, but put her personalized spin on treatment as well. I can't say enough about the individual attention, something not common in our other experiences with PT. The office is convenient to the UW-M campus (accessible by bus) and very well equipped. I had the opportunity to visit in person last month and was completely happy with what I observed. The recovery is going smoothly and Sarah has regained her mobility entirely on schedule. These circumstances can be very unnerving for parents trying to manage their child's medical care from afar. After tearing my ACL during UW Madison's club soccer tryouts I was devastated. However, after beginning physical therapy shortly after surgery, I knew I was in good hands with Jessica. I will never forget how happy I was the day Jessica told me I could get rid of my crutches and walk once again. She was there for me every step the way. Jessica and Nate provided continuous support throughout my entire recovery. Regardless if it was scheduling appointments around my busy college schedule, approving more visits, or asking how my day was, I always felt comfortable and well cared for at Mindful Motion. Before I contacted Mindful Motion I was unable to get a physical therapy appointment anywhere in Madison due to my insurance (Humana HMO). I called numerous times and received the same answer that unless it was an "in network" physical therapist, any treatments would not be covered. While I was fighting with the insurance company I was dealing with intense pain in my hip and lower back. I couldn't sleep through the night due to the pain and was unable to truly move around in the mornings until my prescription strength ibuprofen kicked. I was miserable and I didn't know what to do. Nathan worked with the insurance company to extend my coverage and get me an appointment with Jessica. I was diagnosed with a lower disc issue and given immediate relief through treatment and exercises. I have been steadily improving since beginning my treatment regimen and I can't thank Nathan and Jessica enough. Mindful Motion's space on Livingston St. is beautiful and welcoming. Nathan and Jessica are kind an interesting and I can't think of a better environment to be in while working to heal my body. I was so fortunate to be referred to Mindful Motion when seeking physical therapy. Jessica and Nathan are a great team as a married couple working together. Jessica is beautiful inside and out. She has helped me to slowly be aware of my problem areas and understand the cause of the pain and difficulty I was having. Gradually I am learning to change my unhealthy habits of moving and living to using the correct muscles and developing healthier living habits. She has even helped me switch to healthier eating and given me some of her favorite recipes to make eating better more enjoyable. There is a review at the beginning of each session of how my week has been and questions I might have. There isn't an area of my life that she hasn't been able to provide wise counsel. I found Mindful Motion because of an insurance change. While I was upset to be changing providers then, I feel so so grateful for it now. I have been seeing Autumn for about 7+ months and my quality of life has improved so much because of it. It is so clear that she not only knows her stuff but also takes the time to keep learning. If one thing doesn't work, she always has new ideas, but honestly most of the time she knows exactly the solution right away. She consistently goes above and beyond, like helping me with a wrist problem that occurred randomly through the course of our time together and was not the original reason I came in. Nate is also great to work with. He helped me through some super weird billing by my insurance initially and has even let me know if there are cancellations if I'm looking for a last minute appointment. I cannot recommend Mindful Motion highly enough! Jessica treated me for a foot injury over the course of many months. I found her to be compassionate and very professional, as well as directed, with regard to my recovery. She explained things clearly and seemed to be up-to-date on current PT trends and research. Everything is great about this place. I just had my first appointment with Autumn and I can say that I have rarely encountered and more devoted a more conscientious therapist in any field. She's super patient, clear in her explanations and above all she listens to your body and provides surprising suggestions for exercises that will change your whole body image. We were really pleased with the treatment that our son received for his shoulder injury. Nate and Jessica are very friendly, caring and competent therapists and we felt at ease from the very beginning. Our son is a UW student and was referred by the doctor at the UW Health Systems for PT in the same facility - however it would be very costly as an out of network provider for United Health. I have been seeing Autumn for over a year now and she is wonderful. I came in with acute pain in my back, knees and shoulder. Now I am almost pain free, much stronger and getting to the final layer to resolve knee pain.
