I went on Wednesday night for a Pilates mat class. One thing to note is that all the Pilates classes are mat, they do not have machines at this studio. Wednesday night was one of the coldest nights in NYC so i think a lot of people ended up canceling the class, because it was only me and one other student. Trust me, if it wasn't for class passes strict cancellation policy i would have canceled too, bc I did not want to leave my home in that cold. But glad I went bc it was a good class, and all in all it is only a few blocks from my apartment. The instructor was nice, hands on. It was very relaxed since there were only two of us. She helped with form and also gave modifications if certain moves were too challenging which I appreciated. While it was only 2 of us in the class, I don't think many more could have fit since it was such a small studio. MAYBE 5 people max, but they would be very close together. One thing I did not like was that you had to pay to rent a yoga mat, which you need for the Pilates mat class. You can bring your own mat, or rent theirs for $3 either cash or venmo. I don't get why they do this, they have more than 5 mats, which is the max a class can hold, and all other studios provide you with mats. But whatever!! Overall good class in a cute neighborhood studio!

She knows how to push you without causing joint pain which is almost impossible to find in HIIT style workouts. Since the class size is smaller you get the 1:1 benefits of a personal trainer without losing the contagious energy of a group class. If you're an introvert like me, this is the best of both worlds. I've also been to a few yoga classes on the other side of the studio and they are excellent as well for low impact, stretch days.

My experience in taking her class was nothing short of amazing! Kelli is so understanding and I can honestly say the style of meditation she teaches has changed my life for the better! The studio is located on the Upper West Side and it's such a beautiful space with a great energy! Kelli always hosts group meditations where all her students are invited to join in. Also if you feel you didn't quite grasp the concept the first time around, feel free to sit in again on one of her courses at no additional cost. She also hosts an intro talk on her course where you can learn more about Vedic Meditation without any pressure to take her class, but of course you are going to want to take it anyway! After attending a Sage + Sound Sound Bath via a pop-up event last month (it was good seeing you Kathy!), it prompted me to book an actual class @ Sage + Sound at the above stated location. I was immediately interested in the Gong Sound Experience & booking the class online was pretty easy. Sage + Sound has Services, Classes, wellness products, etc. Services include Facials, Massages, Acupuncture, Nail Care via the Nail Salon by Sundays, etc. Classes include Meditation, Sound Experiences, Workshops, etc. Sage + Sounds sells body, hair, skin, products, etc. Once I arrived at Sage + Sound, I received warm greetings via the Receptionist. She explained the various sections - I walked into their cute café, saw the seating area, the nail salon, etc. I was informed that personal belongings are to be placed in the unlocked / unsecured closet area....the communal space where belongings are stored has shelves. Although I put my bag & sneakers in there, I opted to take my wallet & cell phone (turned off of course) into the class. Sage + Sound would benefit from investing in getting individual secured compartments (ex. Lockers - even if people need to bring their own lock, drawers, etc.) where patrons belongings are safely stored & locked away. This would prevent any potential theft of patrons belongings & let patrons feel good knowing their items are safe. The Gong Sound Experience w/ Samer Ghadry was a 1 hr. Class - It was amazing! Sage + Sound's Class / Floor set-up was so comfortable. Everyone laid on their own individual bedding / padding areas w/ a standard blanket & had an eye mask for use. Sage + Sound only had a couple of knitted weighted blankets - it would have been great if they had one for each individual that registered for the class. For a $55 Class, each person should have had an knitted weighted blanket to use if they chose to do so. Samer is an exceptional Instructor w/ such a calm & soothing voice that put me in a immediate relaxed state from the moment he began speaking. The gong sounds, the breathwork, the soothing chant sounds, etc. made for a fantastic experience. Nothing but peacefulness & tranquility. Please check out Samer's Instagram @samerghadry Samer also has a YouTube channel. Sage + Sound Website has information on their classes, workshops, products, services, etc. There are also Class Packages. sage-sound.com @sageandsoundnyc Sage + Sound Hours of Operation: Mon. - Thurs. - 9am - 7:30pm Fri. - 9am - 9pm Sat. & Sun. - 9am - 7pm

The place is huge. I was there on Mother's Day. Depending on where you enter you may not see the reception and appointment desk for the spa offerings. My only complaint was with the many employees at the reception desk. It would have been nice if I was greeted. I would have been pleased to have a tour of the whole area. It certainly is odd that you can wander around without supervision. I recommend you treat yourself to a pedicure. Don't wait for Mother's Day. The nail salon was the most crowded area in the whole business!

Since the last time I did weight machines was in the Jack LaLanne/ Bally Total Fitness era, I decided to hire a trainer to give me a kind of orientation and help me launch a fitness routine. Liam came highly recommended. He customizes our sessions to reach my goals, and modifies them as my goals change. Liam knows my medical conditions, which he works with, and weak areas, which he helps me to strengthen. He suggests exercises I feel comfortable doing on my own in the gym, or at home. Liam can point out details of how a position or motion should feel, so I know when I'm doing it correctly. I have the attention span of a flea, yet he designs routines that are challenging and entertaining. He checks in often during a session, yet he can somehow inspire one or two more reps out of me than I believe possible. Befitnyc has a variety of classes which I've just begun to check out, from barre-pilates and tai chi to cross- and interval-training to zumba, all included in the very reasonable cost of membership. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the facilities are clean and well designed for a relatively small space. Best of all, the laid-back, diverse clientele makes me feel like I belong.
