I don't understand why this place is not busier!!! As a self taught cook, and working in the food industry all my life...well let's just say I know food! This is the best place in my opinion from north Florida, and all of lower Alabama! Keep it open it is amazing!!!! read more

Don't judge this restaurant by its outward appearance. Wonderful food, attentive servers. We made reservations thinking our group would be about 8-10 of us. After changing the reservation to possibly 12 or more, nineteen (including 5 children) showed up, and the owners still graciously served us and provided a large back room with extra tables that accommodated everyone. The food was excellent and well worth the wait. Many of us were repeat customers because we knew the quality of the food would be consistently way above the usual. read more

First time, not the last!! Such an amazing experience!! The restaurant is clean with plenty of parking, the parking lot is a but rough. Inside there are two seating areas and the sushi bar. We were getting take out so walked in back! The ownership is new. The new owner, purchased the restaurant 3 months ago. We had a moment to chat with her while she created our rolls! We chose a variety of dishes, Udon noodles, teriyaki chicken rice bowl, goyza, 2 different rolls, and crab ragoon. The hostess, was amazing... she made several recommendations and was well versed on the menu. At her recommendation, we ordered the crab ragoon, something neither my sister and I like. ORDER them, they are delicious!! Not sure what to get, ask for recommendations. We got everything home, it was expertly packed, nothing spilled or cold! Portions are huge! This is a must visit!! read more

Seems like the rolls are the better way to go here, but that may have also been just because of what I got. Ordered the sashimi combo and the Mama Mia roll. The sashimi barely tasted like what they're supposed to, almost like the fish was had been frozen, then thawed in the same water. The sashimi was sliced a little mangled too, which should have been my first sign I wouldn't really enjoy it. The ginger smelled a little fishy too, which seemed weird. For the sashimi combo, you get 15 pieces of fish, and I was hoping for a bit more variety than just 3x 5 different types of fish. The Mama Mia roll was okay, although it probably tasted better than the sushi since there were other components in the roll to help improve the flavor. The #1 thing I could taste was the mango, and it wasn't sliced in large pieces, which is why I'm pretty sure the issue was just the lack of flavor in the fish. I also got a house salad, because I was looking forward to a traditional salad with ginger dressing. Instead it was served with a raspberry vinaigrette, which was disappointing. Server didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu, and never returned with answers to questions I had. Long wait for my order, and server didn't really check to see how things were. Restaurant was maybe half full, but maybe that's busier than normal? read more

DO NOT LET THE OUTSIDE FOOL YOU. We drove by here two days ago and commented on the appearance of the building by saying it looks like it's been there a while. Two days later we find ourselves back in Ozark and low and behold eating here. We went with the reviews on Yelp! and not with first impressions. All I can say is I'm glad we did. We got an order of pan fried gyoza that was absolutely delicious and is definitely in our top five we've had. I had the Spicy Yaki Udon for my entree and, wow, it was fantastic. There was so much to it other than noodles I could not finish it all. It had chicken, steak as well as shrimp (which were grilled to perfection) in it with carrots, onions and cabbage for the vegetables. The wife actually stopped eating her sashimi, that was fresh and cold, and ate some of my plate. She has never liked Udon before and couldn't stop talking about how good it was. The food took a few minutes to arrive at the table but it was well worth the wait. The server was very attentive to our needs and kept our glasses full of tea. We will definitely make the hour drive back down here to share a plate of Udon! read more

Was here in Ozark visiting family for the holiday an got tired of the daily home meals (you know what I mean). A group of us decided to venture out to Minako Japanese restaurant. Well it isn't too exciting inside the joint but the food is really good. I had the hibachi steak dinner which is a teriyaki dinner with lots of vegetables. And when I say lots, I mean LOTS of vegetables, it was like a mountain. I was so full, we took much of it back with us. I would definitely come back again. read more

Good option for Enterprise. The sushi was good and the service was quick with no issues. Ordered a Philly roll, spicy tuna and a salmon roll. Lots of other options on the menu, but we stuck to the basics as one of our kids was trying it for the first time (he liked it). We enjoyed our rolls and look forward to returning soon! read more

Have eaten here at least 5 times in 2 months and it's spectacular everytime. The aesthetics submerge you into eastern culture. Definitely recommend for you and/or the family read more

I had a steak hibachi and it was so good. Reasonable price too. There's a discrepancy on checking in with yelp! It's showing I'm 3 hours away??? And the staff knew about the issues. I asked my server before I figured it out why their business isn't showing up and she said they are in yelp. I found it thru my iPhone GPS instead. Yelp! You need to fix this!!! read more

Minako Japanese restautrant - Japanese Near Me - Ozark, Alabama

So I usually equate fresh sashimi with restaurants located near bodies of water where deliveries can be made. I don't know where I came up with that idea because most of the times, seafood is delivered via overnight air freight. I was in Ozark, AL on business and honestly, I am tired of fast food. The mere thought of fast food gives me a slight gag reflex. Unfortunately, where I was staying, there was an abundance of fast food restaurants but not too many honest-to-goodness sit down restaurants of the non-chain variety. I was told by the front desk agent at my hotel that Minako has great sushi. I was kind of surprised that a Japanese restaurant in this town would get such high remarks. I chalked it up to my snobbiness as I lived in SF where awesome Japanese restaurants serving fresh seafood and sashimi were easy-to-find. I was curious so I figured that it can't hurt to try, right? The prospects of good sushi and sashimi definitely outweighed the bad prospects of having to eat fast food again. On the outside, the restaurant wasn't really much to look at. It's located off the main highway in town and had plenty of parking. I was hoping that once I sat down, this place would blow me away and make me rethink my preconceived notions about this place. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and the tables and chairs were in great condition. This place was pretty busy for 6 PM. I counted at least 10 tables occupied. Once seated, the waiter quickly greeted me and took my drink order. I perused the menu which has a million items on it. There were bento boxes, sushi, sashimi, and a lot of different kinds of rolls. They even had some other interesting sounding dishes. For this evening, I decided to order (2) orders of Ebi, (2) orders of Maguro, and (2) orders of Sake. For a main entree, I ordered the shrimp katsu bento box. After ordering, I did note that it took quite a bit of time to get my food. Looking at my watch, it was about 20 minutes before my food came. I figured that maybe it was busy for the staff? Anyways, when the order of sushi nigiri came, I was blown away by the freshness of the fish. I was expecting the maguro and sake to be dark and not fresh. I was kinda hesitant to order sashimi at first but when it arrived, I was kinda excited. The sashimi tasted just as fresh as it looked. I totally did not expect this and was pleasantly surprised. The ebi was perfect, fresh and not rubbery as well. When I got my bento box, the shrimp katsu was perfect and I was hoping for more after I finished my last piece. It was served with dipping sauce of course, a 3 piece roll, crab/cucumber salad, gyoza, and rice. After finishing my meal, I can tell you that this was by far, my best dinner of the week. That might not be saying much considering what else I was able to have for dinner this week. But, with that being said, you will not be disappointed with this restaurant. The locals like it and if you are just in town for a short spell, definitely find time to make it over here for dinner. You won't be disappointed. read more

. Apparently new owners. Still amazing food. Give them a try for good sit down Japanese cruisine.

Wow, this restaurant is pretty great and I can't wait to come back. Food: We ordered the Udon, salmon, a bento box, and the filet mignon hibachi. All of these items were fabulous for the area. The sashimi was pretty fresh which was surprising given that we couldn't find good sushi. The teriyaki salmon was REALLY great. It was cooked to perfection and not overly-cooked. The salmon also came with delicious marinated vegetables. I absolutely loved the Udon and thought it was full of flavor, bright vegetables, and delicious tofu. You can also get meat in the Udon. The prices were also super reasonable for what you get. Ambiance: Very unassuming. There was plenty of seating and a couple of tvs! This is a great place for families, groups, and dates. Service: The service was very friendly. Even though there were only two waitresses, our waitress was very attentive. Overall, My entire party was very impressed. read more

lots of options as far as sushi , they also have good teriyaki chicken bowls. reasonable prices and they are consistent

Best Japanese resturant in the Wiregrass. A lot of food for your dollar. Great variety of menu items, served quickly, and piping hot.

Food was mediocre. I mean you can't entirely mess up sushi. However the other other dishes had no flavor almost like they didn't season anything. Service was decent but I've heard the owners keep tips from their servers and treat them horribly. If that is true, then that is trash. Probably why I haven't been back since. read more

Not bad for some quick sushi and lunch.. I will definitely try them again at night. The service was friendly and the price was fair. read more

Amazing food, service and ambiance. Here's a roll for ya. Cucumber roll. Filled with yellow tail, red snapper, white and red tuna, salmon and crab. Covered with a vinegar base, that he would not share the ingredients for. Yelp has the posted address incorrect. Should be 2751 US-231, Ozark, AL 36360 read more

I haven't been disappointed yet. A waitress asked if I wanted a sushi menu and even though I've never been a sushi fan, I accepted a menu. She was helpful, informative and I tried what she suggested - vegetable sushi. OMG ... I loved it. Kudos to my waitress for suggesting I try it! Awesome! read more

Minako is one of the newest restaurants in Ozark - just opened in December. If you like Saki Sushi in Enterprise you'll love this place as it is owned by the same folks. I have has the chicken teriyaki box and the Shrimp Boat. My dining partner had the sushi boat (chef choice) and the spicy tuna boat. On both occasions the food was tasty and our waiter was marvelous (same waiter). We finally have sushi in Oz! read more

Customer service is poor. Our waitress had no communication skills at all. Another waitress had to come take our bill from our table because our waitress was in the back talking...there was only 4 customers with 3 waitresses...... the food is ok but nothing special. I've tasted many different kinds of sushi and this one fell short on many levels. Price however is fairly cheap compared to other places but let's be honest you pay cheap you get cheap... read more

I'm sure a lot had to do with the lack of staff. Everyone seemed over worked with too many customers. However, the beverages were all flat, the sushi was old (not too old), but you could tell it had been around for a while. The food was okay at best, but it was certainly not worth the money. I'd recommend only going here if you are in a hurry, not going to eat sushi or hibachi, and sticking only with a bento box or appetizer. I normally, don't give ratings this poorly, but potential eaters need to be informed. read more

I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience! The prices are very fair and the food is out of this world good!!! You truly get what you pay for! The Hibachi Steak Dinner is so delicious! Very homey feel. The food is very authentic. The sushi that comes in the bento boxes is actual sushi, rather than the vegetable stuff most places put in. The food is tasty, but most importantly you CANNOT leave this place without trying the tempura fried ice cream!! read more
