This has to be one of my favorite cafes in the Twin Cities. Prices are VERY affordable ($3 for a latte ), and everything felt fresh and homemade. Hummus was amazing, the rice wasn't oily and chicken was nicely seasoned. The meal comes with all of it and a salad, only for $10.99. Falafel was crispy and not dry. The sandwich was gigantic and I had to take it to-go. Utensil station had lots of napkins, water, cups, spoons and forks. My only thing is it place seems very vintage and definitely not cozy and homey. Very spacious with lots of seatings, but expect a super vintage European cafe vibes. read more

The old Lori's coffee and Mim's has combined, for quite some time, into a coffee shop/cafe under one name. It's neater more efficient and appears to have different owners than those that caused me to put my old review of Lori's in my "A must to avoid" collection. It's very quiet compared to any other shop, no music. There is a nice variety of middle eastern style dishes. Coffee is about the same as anybody's and price is more reasonable. read more

I went to Mim's on a morning where I was over by the U. I am not a regular at this coffee shop, but I really enjoyed my coffee. This is not your typical big store coffee shop and I would argue the coffee was better. I also had a blueberry muffin, though for my preferences the muffin was dry. It was a beautiful morning so I sat out under the pergola that was filling in with grapes. It was such a cool ambiance. The service was quick and friendly and prices were fair. They offer more than your morning coffee and pastry fix, serving at least lunch. I cannot attest to their plates though since I wasn't there during lunch hours. read more

This was my go to college spot and I was happy to revisit. It's been a couple years since I've eaten here and it's still pretty good!! I always get the combo plate where you get two proteins - a pretty good price for a huge serving of food. I usually save half for another meal. My favorite is their hummus. I love this place! They are always so accommodating and kind. I can call in a pickup order and they always understand what I am looking for and have it ready to go. Great local restaurant near the Minnesota State Fair grounds. The prices are very reasonable with generous portion sizes. The restaurant is much larger than it looks from the outside or even from the front entrance. There is another two rooms of seating available around the corner from the counter that you order at. Love this place! If you're looking for affordable, tasty, fresh food, stop here. Located on the U campus, Mim's offers Mediterranean cuisine that won't break the bank. Counter service is provided and it's self seating. My go to is the mims platter with chicken kabobs (grilled chicken) and chicken shawarma. I go light on the rice and always get garlic and chili sauce on the side. The pastries are great too. I've never had a bad meal here, and never spent more than $20. read more

I visited on a Thursday afternoon during lunch hour, and waited in line for 20 minutes to order, then another 10 minutes for the food. I ordered the small beef kabob plate and it was alright. A coworker at the U recommended this spot, and I absolutely loved it! The perfect lunch spot if you're looking for delicious food, and something different than what the fast casual places have to offer. A quaint, small business tucked into what seemed to be a mostly residential area. You can tell it's run by a family and the service was incredibly friendly, answered my questions about the menu, and prepared the food quickly! I ended up getting the beef burrito: a yummy combination of shawarma beef, rice, hummus, onions, and green peppers. A hearty serving that left me satisfied for the whole afternoon, although it was a bit messy to eat in my car :) This will be my go-to lunch spot when I'm in the area! Great spot for Mediterranean food at a good price- perfect for college students! I went once during college, but never ventured back because most of my classes were on the Minneapolis campus of UMN but recently went back for dinner with a friend, and I wished I had gone more often! I got a lamb and beef shawarma platter with rice and hummus, and the small plate was perfect size for dinner. You get some pita bread with your plate and the flavors were great. Service was also friendly, and there's indoor and outdoor seating available. Only street parking is available since you are on campus (the St Paul Student Center is basically across the street), but it wasn't too hard to find parking on a Monday night. read more

I got a matcha, a croissant, and a chocolate muffin. The matcha was not great and tasted grainy--definitely not worth 6 dollars. The croissant and chocolate muffin were good, but that is because they were obviously bought from Costco. Listen, I've HAD my fair share of Costco croissants and muffins, and I can guarantee (not legally binding but like i am so certain) that these are from Costco. That is fine and all, but if you are going there for the "coffee shop" aspect of the business then you really should just go to Costco and get a six pack of chocolate muffins and croissants. From the outside, Mim's is easy to overlook, but the welcoming service and delicious food absolutely speaks for its self. The restaurant is family owned and feels like home when you enter. The waiters, cooks, and owners greeted us with a smile, and the food was served within 5-10 minutes. The food, which is a mix of both Mediterranean and American classics, was delicious. I shared the veggie combo (rice, baba ghanouj, salad, falafel, veggies, and pita) and a veggie burrito. There are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options that are both healthy and tasty. Although I enjoy Mim's for dinner, this is a great casual lunch spot for college students and professors! Highly recommend stopping by! read more

It is a basic coffee shop that brews fresh coffee after you order. Hot or Cold. Chai Tea was a hit among my group. Baklava was very good, not too sweet. Located by the St. Paul campus of the U of M, the worst thing about this place is looking for parking nearby. Just make sure you pay attention to posted signs! We stopped by for dinner and we were so full! I had a lunch for the next day. You do get a lot of food for the price! My husband went with a kabob sandwich and really enjoyed it. Meat was tender. I went with the beef shawarma plate. Even though it was a small; there was so much food! My husband and I could probably spilt a large plate if we're not too hungry. Of course with the complete understanding that I will be eating most of the warm pita bread. We are definitely going to keep place this in mind, especially when it warms up! read more

One of the better places in the Twin Cities for shawarma and kabob wraps. I personally prefer Wally's (more selection and also really good quality). What I do like about Mim's is that the food is VERY FRESH. I often grab takeout before playing a few hours of vball at the St Paul campus, then head back, and eat. So from prep to eating, it can be up to 6 hours, but it tastes very fresh still, often fresher than some places I've tried for delivery and eaten with much less delay. Portions are also good and service is extremely friendly. I think if they offered a couple other sauce options for their wraps (like a garlic sauce for chicken, etc.) it could be nice for variety, but the freshness makes it definitely enjoyable frequently. read more

Mim's is such an amazing place! It is right near the University of Minnesota's Saint Paul campus. It was my favorite place to study when I was an undergraduate. There is plenty of space and the environment is nice. The owner is the sweetest man! He will remember your face if you become a regular! Now onto the food and drinks. They have wonderful coffees in their cafe area, I always got a cafe miel or vanilla latte. They have the best falafel I've ever had! Always flavorful and never greasy.
