We need MORE Brazilian spots around here! As someone who used to live in Brazil, I have a soft spot for anything Brazilian. It's basically instant nostalgia in food form. So when I happened to be in the area, I had to stop by Mimo Bake Studio for a little afternoon snack fix. I went with the Bobaberry açaí smoothie and some mini coxinhas, and both hit the spot. The açaí was smooth, cold, refreshing, and actually filling. I'm always looking for ways to sneak in a little extra protein, so adding peanut butter was a no-brainer. Delicious and nutritious? I'll take that win. And the mini coxinhas! Usually, you'll see coxinha as one larger pastry, but Mimo makes these cute little bite-sized ones. You get four per order, which makes them perfect for sharing... although I'm not saying I actually shared all four. I'd definitely come back here for a quick snack or drink when I want something delicious that feels a little less guilty. It's always nice finding a little taste of Brazil that brings back some good memories. read more

We stopped in to Mimi Bake Studio while driving through Rancho Cordova. My daughter just happened to be all dressed in her Brazil jersey so it was a must!!!!! They were super friendly and helpful with the menu. They took their time explaining drinks and food items on the menu. We decided on a few things to try. Finally found a place that offers an açaí bowl that truly reflects what you'd get in Brasil. The texture and the flavor hit the spot. None of that icy, thick or sometimes even watery concoction that you buy from other places mixed with who knows what. The space is small, designed really well, and the cultural nuggets around the store transports you to Brazil. I had the chance to meet the owner. She shared the history of the space, her story of how Mimo came to be as well as her passion for design and marketing. You see her work throughout the store. I was in the area for a quick bite to eat next door, and wanted a cup of coffee. I popped in to this is a quaint establishment, nice, and simply decorated place. The staff seemed very nice and engaging. As I navigated the kiosk to order my coffee, I believe one of the owners assisted me. After ordering my coffee, I took a seat, and suddenly felt our place as other regular patrons began to blatantly stare at me, I quietly awaited my mocha coffee, other patrons entered and looked, and stared. We were in the area and were very hungry so we decided to give this spot a try. Looking at the reviews and website it looked pretty new and the food looked delicious. The moment we walked in we were warmly greeted by the owner and given many wonderful choices. The interior was nice with lovely pictures and drawings describing the Brazilian culture. We ordered a few good things on the menu but I have to say my favorite two were Pao de queijo & Coxinha! The cheese balls were perfect especially paired with cream cheese! I could eat those every single day. The Coxinha (chicken) were so juicy and crispy outside it reminded me of a Vietnamese pastry. Driving by, I noticed that a new business had gone into the old "subway" around the corner from the Mather VA. They had just opened a couple of months ago. They are a regular at the Midtown farmers market, and this is their new "brick-and-mortar." It is a Brazilian theme. There are pictures and decorations all over the walls that depict Brazil. They have a large amount of Brazilian sandwiches on the menu, made with tapioca bread, which I had never heard of. They also have smoothies, açai bowls, desserts and coffees. I went for the gafieira, and I loved it. I had never had tapioca bread, it was flavorful and moist. I liked the grilled cheese on the outside of the bread. They were very generous With the fillings, and the Dijon mustard and pickled onions kept it from being too rich. There was also a small side salad, which gave it another little pop of freshness. To drink, I had a Brazilian cherry soda., which was excellent. For such a high-quality sandwich, and an imported soda, the price was reasonable. This was my first visit to Mimo Bake Studio--and it absolutely will not be my last. I ordered a mocha Brazilian coffee, and it was genuinely excellent: rich, smooth, and clearly made with care. Monique also offered me samples of a few baked items, and while I can't remember all their names, I will never forget the caramel she handed me on a spoon. That alone could've convinced me to come back. It was fresh, balanced, and indulgent in the best way. The space itself somehow checks every box: small but cozy, clean, modern, and artsy all at once. You can immediately tell this is a place where intention matters--from the way it looks to the way it feels when you're standing there. And then there's Monique--the owner and baker (along with her partner, who was hard at work in the back). She took the time to walk me through the entire menu with such warmth and pride. She's the kind of person you could talk to all day--the energy of a caring mom mixed with the fun aunt who deeply loves what she's created. Her passion is obvious, her kindness is real, and you can feel how much heart goes into everything they make. Everything is handmade, fresh, and from scratch--and it shows. I also want to say this: with the VA hospital next door and large businesses like Vitalant nearby, this would be an incredible place for companies to treat their employees to coffee or pastries. Supporting a business like this--one that's clearly built with love--just feels right. Please, please, please give Mimo Bake Studio a try. You will not be disappointed. Nice new Brazilian coffee shop! I tried their Pão de queijo, a Brazilian cheese bread, and a Pistachio iced latte. The bread came out piping hot and the inside texture was like a mochi consistency with a nice cheese flavor. The Pistachio iced latte had a nice sweet taste and was a great pair with the bread. There is plenty of parking, a good amount of seats and 2 swivel lounge chairs in the back. There are 2 bathrooms, which were really clean! The server was friendly and brought out my order quick despite them just opening. I would come back to try their other treats. Only downside was the prices were a bit high. I stumbled upon this local Brazilian bakery café on Yelp and was immediately drawn in by their impressive selection of gluten-free savory and sweet options. I decided to stop by for a late lunch around 2 PM today, and it was easy to find and not busy at all. Choosing what to try was the hardest part because everything looked so good! I went savory this time and ordered a sandwich with chicken, bacon, corn, and cream cheese, plus a side of their famous Brazilian bread. They have a tablet for placing orders, which I used--it was quick and easy, and the staff at the counter was super friendly. My order took about 10 minutes, freshly made, and there was a small language barrier, but the staff was incredibly sweet. They even explained, using a translator, that next time I could order online and have it ready for pickup if I wanted to skip the wait. I also noticed they have a lot of promotions via QR codes on the menu and even on their bags--so thoughtful! I really appreciated the personal touch--my bag even had my name with a little smiley face on it, which was such a sweet touch. Portions were generous, and the food was fulfilling and delicious. Came here today after I saw Mimo pop up on my social media. I got a dulce de leche latte half sweet and cheese bread. I would definitely try the drink full sweet next time to get that great dulce de leche flavor, but even the half is good for the everyday sweetness. I love the dulce de leche they use in the drinks. The Brazilian cheese bread was made fresh to order and was HOT when I got them. I loved the cheesy soft steaming middle. A good snack. I will definitely be back. I love family owned cafes and this is a great addition. They also have tapioca crepes and sandwiches with different fillings. Tapioca flour is gluten free so majority of their items are gluten free. New bakery in town and I love that it's something different. Brazilian baked goods. Seems like many of the items are gluten free since they use tapioca flour. Interesting little bites I had of chicken pastry, a cheese pastry, and a pot pie. I'm looking forward to trying an acai bowl and a savory crepe looking item that sounds delicious. On the run, we stopped in to get an order to go. Parking available. Upon entering, you're greeted almost instantly. Very new, clean location. Love the decor, the natural wood, comfortable seats, tables, restrooms clean. AI pictures are interesting on the walls and the drawings of the Brazilian fruits, and more are very colorful, and vibrant. I think I'd prefer the face to face ordering, instead of ordering from the kiosk. Takes some time. The owners are extremely friendly, professional, and very nice. I grew up around a Brazilian community, and love Brazilian food. There were a few items on the menu I wasn't familiar with. Order- I had the vegan tapioca tomatoe w vegan cheese omelet style. The tapioca has interesting texture, maybe not for me, a bit too chewy and sticky, I had a hard time getting it out of the box, but it had decent flavor, the churro tapioca one, was a bit too sweet and much for my bf. I think it was the tapioca crust. The pan de queizo? Hope I spelled right, but very good, the chicken and potato ones, extremely good! I'd come back for those. There is also another crispy one, which was delicious. Coffee was delicious, the banana, peanut butter smoothie, delicious. We were also given tiny mini guava cookies. Really tasty. Overall- 4 stars for me- only because the tapioca crepes, not for us. Also, price was over 130 dollars, that's pretty high! Lowering prices, brings customers, affordable prices will help.
