Just because the tax professional puts figures on a form, it doesn't mean they understand your tax situation or are prepared to provide best-case guidance for you. We had an appointment with Clara Fowler for tax preparation. We were charged $555 and our taxes were done incorrectly. Something just didn't seem right, so we engaged a different tax professional who provided guidance. We were also pressured by the original tax preparer to give high marks on the follow up review We returned to the branch and escalated our concerns to Mark Anderson who was helpful in correcting the errors on our initial return. The errors resulted in a $5,000 variance on our refund. When we asked for our $555 to be refunded based on the "Max Refund Guarantee" we were told $50 was the most we could get. We asked to have the issue escalated to H&R Block Corporate, and have had no calls or emails returned since. Our initial appointment was 2/9/2023. It took moser than a month to get the returns corrected and another month fighting for a refund, which still hasn't been resolved. Formal complaints have been filed with H&R Block.

I scheduled online without a preference for my tax professional. H&R does a great job of making you aware of all fees before your service begins, which I really appreciate. There is a large parking lot which is shared with some small shops in the strip mall, as well as with a large Kroeger. Staff appeared to be knowledgeable. I got there early and was taken early, which was nice and not expected. At the end of my appointment there was pressure to book an appointment already for next year which wasn't my favorite thing (especially because knowing a schedule a year in advance is very tricky!) Thus building was clean and staff at the front desk was kind. This wasn't an above and beyond experience like I have had at other locations but everything here was pretty average.
