The public knows about it too, though, and it's always crowded. We went in early November and mid-December and we were shoulder to shoulder with others no matter what. It's…read morea 4 day event that draws hundreds from in and around the area and features local and national jazz musicians. The concerts were held at different venues around the city (with pricing from $29 to $72). The three concerts that we chose were all held at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center and they were : Friday night -Al Jarreau with Marc Antoine and Steve Cole, Sat 4pm- Pieces of a Dream with Eric Roberaon and Sat 10:30pm- All Star Super Show w/ Brian Simpson, Boney James, Eugene Groove, Nick Colionne, Chuck Loeb, Nathan East and Eric Roberson. All of the shows were outstanding. Although Al Jarreau is getting old and can't quite hit the notes like he used to, it was an honor seeing this jazz legend. It was a weekend of pure jazz that any enthusiast would have thoroughly enjoyed. In addition to the concerts, there was jazz being performed by local artist in the various establishments on in and around Rehoboth occuring during the early afternoon until late in the evening. The local fire station hosted an afternoon jazz band that featured a young female saxophonist that could give the likes of Boney James and Kim Waters a run for their money. It was awesome! We couldn't come to the beach without actually going on the beach, so we strolled the boardwalk and walk out on the sand, taking in magnificent views of the Atlantic on such a wonderful, but brisk and sunny weekend. We also visited the local shops and came away with tasty nut brittle and souvenir shirts for $5 a pop! One thing to mention is that based on my observations, Rehoboth Beach is very animal friendly with folks walking their dogs along the streets and boardwalk and local merchants setting out water and treats! So check with the various hotels in the area for pet friendly rooms and bring your pooch along for the trip! We will be back for next year's festival indeed.

It seemed like most toddler friendly rides were 3 tickets ($0.75/ticket) so we found that pretty reasonable. Some of the arcade games are kind of gimmes (due to you having zero chance of winning) but a few guarantee that you'll win so our toddler happily collected a rubber ducky and some food themed plushies like a watermelon. I think there's less amusement for adults but if you're a parent with a toddler or kids in tow, it met our needs. It's also right next to a public restroom so that's handy too.

My daughter has been attending drama theater camps offered by Rehoboth Summer Children's Theatre…read morefor many years since she was 5-1/2, she is now 8. She loved the first year and has been excited to go back every year since. During the camp week, the children learn the plays and put on a performance at the end of the week. The younger children go for a half day and the older children go for a full day during the 5 day week. The older and younger kids work together and separately throughout the day. All of the older children have been great role models for the younger kids and have taught my daughter how to help provide motivation to the younger campers. Steve and Karen lead the children through drama exercises during the week, help them learn a play that they will perform on the final day and make props for the performance. All the staff are very patient and kind to the children. Also, during the week, the kids get to see a performance put on by the Rehoboth Summer Children's Theatre group. These are full performances acted out by two individuals. The plays change from year to year and are fun to watch. This year my daughter will try the Film and TV Camp for the first time. It will be an exciting challenge to try something new. I'm sure this camp will be organized and as rewarding as the drama camps. We will be returning for more camps this summer and hopefully for more summers to come!

We watched him grow in confidence and explore facets of his creativity we didn't know were there. Not only did he grow creatively, he learned to listen to his peers and as time went on to help younger campers develop. Now, our granddaughter, who is seven, is going into her third summer with RSCT.
