Great events, cheap food and drinks. Not a large menu selection and the quality is just ok. The fried chicken fingers are not the least bit greasy and the pizza is decent. Wine is $4.00 not a great brand but hey after the first one or 2 you won't even notice! Beautiful location and fantastic view. Very crowded in the season, off season is best for people that live nearby year round. An awesome affordable place for vets and their families. Lots of volunteers which is wonderful! Something going on all the time. Flip 5 is also a fun night! Rated a 3 only because it's too crowded in the summer and the road to the entrance has been in need of major repair for quite awhile. I I love the scenic views from here on the point overlooking the Indian River inlet. It is an all you can eat breakfast Buffett on Sundays that brought my family and I here today. Many juice choices, coffee and tea. An assortment of pastries were available as well. The Buffett included ham, sausage links, scrambled eggs, choice of toast or biscuit with yummy sausage gravy or creamed chipped Beef aka SOS. Home fries with onions and pancakes. Well worth the $10 dollar donation! Will definitely be back for breakfast or whatever public fund drive they have in the future. Perfect for a hall for hire Location! The only thing is that my sister wanted to buy a T-shirt for her husband and no one was there with a key to the case. Others were also interested in purchasing t shirts. My husband and myself went to a local resturant in ocean view , and meet a lovely couple Tony and Marie. He invited us to the VFW Chicken shack on route 1 in Bethany Beach. Tony introduced us to all his his fellow vets. They raise over $30,000 a year to help over twenty charity's. While we where there, we notice people came from all over Delaware to buy there chickens. My husband and I Are vegetarian. So we left a donation. The chicken shack is open from May 22nd thru Sept 22nd. They usually sell out by 11:00 am. Whether you want some good chicken or even maybe drop by and leave a donation it can't go to a better cause ,and to meet our vets who have served for our country. read more

I bet you are wondering what I can review at a VFW... TONS!!! First, I have to compliment the bartender(s). Very nice pours for a decent price. For the Sunday all you can eat breakfast buffet they have specials on the Bloody Marys and the Mimosas. Well, that leads to the AYCE Sunday breakfast buffet. I swear they cook everything with love but that could just be because I am biased! There are scrambled eggs and you can cover them with cheese sauce, mushrooms or salsa. French toast with or without spiced apples. White or rye toast to hold up your SOS aka chipped beef. I have only seen sausage links each year that I come but I hear they also have patties and even bacon. I have seen scrapple, biscuits with sausage gravy, fried potatoes and tater tots. They have fruit cocktail from a can and sometimes even fresh fruit. There are mini fruit danishes, coffee, oj, apple and tomato juice. Not too bad for $10 and for a good cause! Check the calendar for when the VFW does their fish fry! You have your fish and chips, your fried shrimp and crabcake sandwich. But what they are most famous for is when they sell crabs by the bushel. I don't know where they get these giant crabs but pull up a chair, mallet and a cold beer and start cracking! As we are on the Eastern Shore, there is plenty of Old Bay to go around but once the crabs are gone, they are gone! Live bands, dancing, spaghetti dinners, bingo, hot dogs, burgers, and popcorn! All with a gorgeous view. This scenic spot is nestled on the Indian River Bay with a bird's eye view of the Atlantic Ocean. Settle in for a gorgeous sunset and a nice cold beverage. I promise you, it is a spectacular view! Whoops, did I forget to mention that you must be a member or someone's guest? Tip your hat to the men and women who fought overseas...and bring 20 bucks so you can buy them a round of beers! read more

Easy review: If you frequent this area near Bethany Beach or are a VFW member passing through, you need to get with this Post. I was only there twice in May 2015 while working down that way and was blown away by it's location on the bay. Incredible views. I just had a couple pints off-hours but hear the food and various events are great. This is a serious piece of real estate. Best chance for a social membership is to go in off-hours and off-season and seek out a vet member who might sponsor you as with any VFW post. A local member advised getting in is tight Get in with this Post and you're gold. Nice pics Connie. Thank God I'm a VFW life member who can visit any Post anywhere. read more
