M & I had talked about getting out of town for a while. Away from the large clusters of people in DFW. He found the Milton Parker Home for us to stay for our getaway for our fifth anniversary. I'd never been to Bryan and was looking forward to a getaway weekend. We arrived early and was happy we could check in. We were happily greeted by Denise and two doodles. It felt like home the moment we walked in! We got a tour of the Mansion and heard some wonderful stories of the home. To think the house is 136 years old!! Denise and Bob have owned it for five years...that was meaningful to us that we were celebrating a five year milestone as well. The furniture and little details of the home are just amazing! We loved our room upstairs. The windows with the beautiful light coming in. The bed was so comfortable. And the claw foot jacuzzi tub was a treat. It stormed the first night we were there and I am impressed with how quiet this home is....didn't really hear much of the storm! You'll hear the train--after all the tracks are right next to the house. I just laughed and I won't spoil the reason why. It wasn't a big deal and I for sure didn't lose any sleep over it. I haven't mentioned breakfast yet...and I'm not about to leave that out! Breakfast was SO DELICIOUS! Walking into the dining room and the table set up for us to sit near the picture window. Coffee, juice, ice water...our first breakfast was breakfast enchiladas with Kentucky grits, sausage and fruit. Sunday morning was a torta with grilled pineapple, peach French toast casserole and a delicious smoothie. I can't wait for a Parker House Cookbook (hint hint lol). It was enough to hold us while we enjoyed a day of shopping downtown on Saturday. It started to rain as the stores were closing on Saturday. We decided to go back to the house. That evening we were the only guests so we grabbed a couple of adult beverages and sat in the parlor to watch tv. We cannot say how nice it was to just sit and not worry about chores around the house, work, or anything. Sunday morning after breakfast we sat outside with our coffee and enjoyed the scenery and the sounds of the birds. Several great places for morning coffee or evening beverages at the home. We enjoyed our conversations with Denise and Bob. We feel like we made new friends that we can't wait to see again. Their hospitality and care make for a wonderful stress-free visit. The pups are super sweet too. Just don't tell Ella because she will be jealous! Just absolutely beautiful historic home. Comfortable rooms. Delicious breakfast. Fantastic hosts. Must say we felt pampered all weekend. We look forward to visiting again.

Denise and Bob, the wonderful couple who own the B&B, are the best kind of people--warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind.

Listen... this place? Whatever. Straight up whatever. Not…read morebad, not good, just existing like a soggy cracker in a hotel-shaped void. So we're laying there, right. Middle of the night. Lights off. Watching Harry Potter like civilized degenerates. Wizards flying, vibes neutral, life tolerable. And then... it reveals itself. The wall. No... not a wall. The wall. There's a "curtain." Except it's not a curtain. It's a PAINTED curtain. A fake curtain. A fraud curtain. A liar in curtain clothing. And brother... when I tell you this thing looked like someone just discovered paint five minutes ago and immediately lost custody of the brush... This wasn't art. This was a crime scene with color. I just started art school today. DAY ONE. I made some abstract nonsense, yeah? Even mine had structure. This thing? This thing looked like someone sneezed into a paint bucket and said "yep, hang it." It's just strokes. Just... strokes. One swipe. Another swipe. A weird blob like it's trying to escape the wall and apologize. Who approved this?? Who looked at that and said, "yeah... that's curtain enough." It's not even trying to be a curtain. It's like it heard about curtains once in a dream and woke up confused. I'm staring at it. I can't stop staring at it. It's staring back. It knows what it did. It's got that energy like when someone says "this piece represents emotion" and the emotion is just... regret. And it keeps getting worse the longer you look. It evolves. It mutates. It starts asking questions about your childhood. At one point I swear it shifted slightly like it was trying to become real. Not today. Not on my watch. We're sitting there in bed like: "Are we overreacting?" "No." "Should we leave?" "...yeah." And we did. We actually got up. Packed up. Walked out. No refund. No closure. Just two broken men escaping a haunted canvas that forgot how to be anything. Couldn't sleep. Couldn't blink. Couldn't coexist with that... thing. Final verdict? NO DIRTY BOY SEAL OF APPROVAL. Not even close. Seal denied. Seal disgusted. Seal left the building.

Shortly after checking into our first room, we began hearing repeated loud thuds from the room above us. It sounded as though someone was repeatedly dropping a heavy object or riding a skateboard across the floor. The noise continued until around 11:00 p.m. and started again around 6:00 a.m., making it difficult to relax and get a good night's sleep. I called the front desk to ask if our room was located beneath the gym and requested a room change. The staff accommodated our request and moved us to another floor. Unfortunately, as soon as we opened the door to the second room, we were met with a strong musty, moldy odor. Upon closer inspection, we noticed what appeared to be mold growth around the air vent located directly above the bed. When I called the front desk, the clerk immediately asked if the room smelled "humid," which surprised me because it suggested they were already aware of the issue. Since we were staying for four nights, I asked if another room was available. Thankfully, the staff was eventually able to relocate us again. One additional inconvenience was the lack of places to hang wet towels or swimsuits to dry. As a result, nothing dried properly, and we had to request fresh towels each day. While I appreciate that the staff ultimately worked to address our concerns by moving us to different rooms, the overall experience was disappointing, especially considering the hotel's excellent reputation and the many positive recommendations we had received. I expected a much more comfortable stay, and unfortunately, this visit did not meet those expectations. Avoid room 236 below gym 360 mold and humid
