My wife was needing surgery for her cancer and we were there waiting for that. Unfortunately the surgery got canceled and we had to go back home. Also it's very very unfortunate that so many people are needing this type of environment and support for the situations they're in and the availability to get back into the Ballard House after the hospital rescheduled her surgery was mute. No vacancies. It's so sad that SO many people are hurting and need this service. Unfortunately I'm recommending The Ballard House for anyone who needs it because it's a wonderful place to stay. I say unfortunately because I'm in need of a place to stay for the next two weeks and I'm having to look elsewhere than the Ballard House to stay. Love this place and the Volunteers are a God sent. PS. That's my beautiful wife in the photo

I was introduced to Youth & Senior Assistance through by Mom who passed away recently. When she started needing medical equipment she soon realized how expensive it was. Living on a fixed income made it difficult to purchase the equipment required for her to maintain her mobility and independence. Then a friend told her about Youth & Senior Thrift Store. They placed her name on a list and shortly after when a walker was donated she was notified and it was hers. Surprisingly, it was free! As was everything she contacted them for. Mom used their services for other pieces of medical equipment as well as other items as needed when money was tight. She also shopped here often supporting the Thrift Store. What isn't on a waitlist is sold in the store to support their efforts. You can only image how hard they were hit after the devastating hurricane 3 years ago with such enormous need. But they were there for all those needing assistance. This is just one of the reasons I've donated a majority of my Mom's personal possessions to the thrift store. I was surprised when I was asked if I needed pickup. Seriously! I was SO excited since I was looking at the majority of an entire home. No need for truck rental now! Yes, we scheduled, they came, loaded everything quickly and efficiently and lessened my stress level a thousand percent. They also have a very convenient drive up drop off for items you wish to donate with tax donation forms available. Thank you, thank you for assisting me at a very stressful time. Shopping is fun because you never know what you'll find here. If you're a thrifter you'll enjoy the hunt. The store isn't huge but organized well with amazing prices and super friendly staff.
