I'm completely devastated, me and my husband drove an hour to you look at dogs at Milo foundation. We have been looking for the right dog and absolutely fell in love with one, it was an instant connection. We have another dog, we definitely wanted them to meet before going further. The girl that was helping us out was super sweet, and assured me that she could put a pop-up on the account so no one could adopt the dog and we could come in the next day for the meet and greet. Me and my husband had work and asked if 4:00 pm was okay , or if we should try and cancel work and come early. She assured me that would be completely fine, and they could hold a dog until the end of next day. It was reassuring, because she even double checked with her superior , who also said in front of us, that they could keep the dog until the end of next day.
The girl helping us out, asked if we like to go ahead and fill out paper work and pay for the dog or just wait until tomorrow. Since we had the option, I agreed on just waiting until the next day after our dogs meet and greet.
The next day comes around, me, and my husband move our work schedules, load up our dog and drive an hour to Milo foundation. We arrived and knocked on the door,. We immediately let the worker whom opens the door that we're there to have a meet and greet with Pepper, to which she says "Pepper was adopted first thing this morning." My heart completely sank. I explained to her the situation, and she went to grab her Manager.
After 10 minutes, the manager came out to talk to us. She apologized but honestly gaslit us, which infuriated me. We had met and talked to the manager the day prior, the sweet worker that helped us the day prior even let her know we were coming back in the next day to do a meet and greet with the dog The manager told us that there was no pop-up on the dog's account, however, I sat with the girl as she did it, and she even asked another manager for help.
The manager then tells me I don't agree to hold a dog until 4:00pm, only 11am.. I wasn't quite sure why she said that, since they had said that the pup was adopted first thing that morning, so if we had come before 11 AM, we would most likely still be in that situation. She then said "you could have just not showed up".. However there I was , and had an application and phone number / email on file she could have reached me at. I was completely dumbfounded, and spoke my mind that this was so wrong and devastating. Instead of in a genuine apology, she told us you don't understand what we go through every day. She mentioned tons of dogs coming in everyday some dying and sometimes they make mistakes and and there are plenty of dogs here to adopt... i'm completely understanding of what they go through , it can be heartbreaking and I have so much respect for what they so, however I hate that she used that as an excuse instead of a apology. Someone's hard ships should never be an excuse for someone's mistake .
We left and went home super devastated. If you adopt from the Milo foundation be very weary. I believe they're a great foundation and do so much good ,this situation comes down to the manager really needing to implement and communicate with her subordinates. I hope from this she learns and they're all on the same page from here on out. read more
