They were scheduled to arrive between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, but they didn't show up until the very end of that window. Once they finally assessed the job, they immediately tried to tack on an additional $150, citing issues with my pipes and hinting that the total cost could easily rise even further. To make matters worse, they claimed they were completely unable to open the water meter cover, insisting that I would have to call the city to handle it. They even went as far as to claim they had tried everything, including prying it open with a crowbar. However, shortly after they left, my son arrived home, walked out to the meter, and opened it by hand with absolutely no effort. I decided to check my home security cameras, and the footage confirmed that they never even attempted to open the meter as they had claimed. It really felt like they simply didn't want to perform the work they had committed to, so they made up excuses to avoid it. I ended up hiring another plumbing company the very next day, and they were able to complete the entire project--including the additional pipe work and even cutting into the wall--for a total of just $400. The second company was transparent, efficient, and professional. I admit that I neglected to officially cancel my follow-up appointment with Jerrell's, but given how the initial situation was handled and the dishonesty regarding the water meter, I honestly didn't believe they would even show up again. I had a total of 184' of cast iron relined (4" and 2" pipes), and I verified the team did good preparation work and 2 coat epoxy application. Costs were approximately 25% less that a full PVC replacement. My cast iron pipes were installed in 1978, and they were generally ok with some trench rot in a main line. The spin cast process sealed these gaps and camera inspection afterwards comfirmed my sewer lines will be good for several more decades (50 year tranferrable warranty). I don't want to throw around a term like 'crooked' without justification. That being said, Cooper…read morePlumbing brings to mind the reasons why people dread hiring plumbers. Don't be fooled by his 'free estimates' or 'free service calls' It's true, he will physically drive out to your location without expecting to be paid. But once he's at your house, he'll tell you that your problem could be anything, coming from anywhere, and he won't lift a finger until you pay him $500 UPFRONT to authorise his 'discovery.' (If that's not what a service fee is I don't know. BTW those are usually about $75...) We asked him if that covered the repair as well. He answered that it did not. The price for the repair would be a separate, ongoing process that could only be determined after the discovery. He alluded that the whole house might have massive water problems. (We later found out that it was just a little pin-hole leak in a single pipe.) While we were discussing whether or not to accept this outrageous 'service fee,' Cooper and his assitant shouted from the garage that 'This job just won't work out. Sorry!' I told him that this was surprisingly unprofessional. But he got in his van and drove off just the same. In conclusion, Cooper Plumbing has some very suspicious sales tactics that remind me of the Agents who charge you upfront to represent you. A massive red flag that I recommend avoiding.
