I've had my share of experience dining at hotel restaurants in the Philippines and I will admit none of them stood out.
Millie's has now set the bar for that.
I took note they were closing at 10pm, and I figure if I were to dine in, I better get in there by 930p. (I assumed kitchen was closed by 945pm, maybe...?) And I thought it a good idea to avoid Mom's hAngerism. (She said she wasn't that hungry, but she will be, so might as well get something in her tummy.)
The place was empty, so we were seated and given menus immediately. The dining area was a bit chilly for us, so we requested for hot tea (lavender and jasmine) to start us off when asked our preferred drinks.
MOLO SOUP: Broth had depth. The stuffing on the dumplings were full of flavor. There was a lot of love in this soup! A great option to kickstart our appetites!
CALAMARES FRITOS: Came out nice and hot and crispy and seasoned so well. It also came with fried cucumbers which was a nice palate cleanser. The dip was nothing more than a second thought as the main on the plate was perfect as it is. Like that wasn't enough: the order was bigger than I imagined! I probably would have skipped it had I known otherwise, but worked out well - I got to share leftovers with the rest of my crew as a midnight snack.
STEAK SANDWICH: I didn't expect much. It really is just a steak sandwich. So, I was pleasantly surprised at how delightful that first bite is! I was asked how I'd like my steak cooked (medium) and that's exactly how it came out. Seasoned well and with bites of fresh veggies as well as the taste and texture of the Brie cheese... OMG, this sammich is excellent!
PORK CHOP: Mom's choice of main. I had a couple of small bites of it and this, too, was done perfectly. She loved the dish so much, her plate was cleaned off by the time she was done!
FOOD: 5. Nothing we didn't like. Every thing we ordered was fantastic. Did I mention (maybe except for the soup?) everything was made to order? This is always a plus.
SERVICE: 5. Jana was our main server assisted by Erm. They were professional, welcoming and downright excellent at their jobs.
VALUE: 5. Might be pricey for some, but worth it.
PARKING: N/A. Located inside Microtel by Wyndham. Not sure if they have valet or visitor's parking.
OVERALL: 5.
The only very minor snag? The entire dining room was cold. Our orders of hot tea as well as the soup came through really well for this. I'll make a mental note to bring a light sweater next time.
I made it clear how much I like this hotel. This restaurant is a definite bonus, a cherry on top one might say. Definitely considering staying and dining here again. read more
