I got in the next day! The staff was really great, from the front desk to the dental assistant taking the X-rays, to the dental hygienist and the dentist. It was easy to schedule a cleaning also. Prices were reasonable, and they quality of care was great.

Before my appointment began, I made it very clear that I only wanted a cleaning and was not interested in additional treatment. The staff confirmed that my insurance was accepted and explained that they needed to perform X-rays and an examination because I was a new patient. After the examination, they refused to perform the cleaning and instead recommended a deep cleaning. I declined. Before leaving, I specifically asked whether I owed anything. I was told more than once that my insurance covered everything, that I did not need to pay anything, and that I was "all set." Weeks later, I received a bill for $122. When I called the office, they admitted that I had been told I owed nothing but explained that they decided to bill me because I was a first-time patient who had received X-rays and an examination. That information should have been explained before I left the office, not after I received a bill. The biggest issue is not the money. It is the lack of honesty and transparency. I trusted what the staff told me before I left, only to receive an unexpected invoice later. On top of that, I never even received the cleaning that I originally came in for. Patients deserve clear communication about costs before treatment--not surprises after the fact. Unfortunately, this experience has caused me to lose confidence in this practice (Smile Design Gainesville), and I will not be returning. Rahiq Alsaeed

I'm posting this to warn other parents!…read more Dr. Kristen uses pressure tactics and an ultimatum-based approach instead of transparency and options. Went to my 4-year-old's visit and was told she has 5 cavities. They presented a treatment proposal totaling $4,107 and insisted there were no options other than completing all fillings under IV sedation (they quoted $1,800 for IV sedation alone). I specifically asked about alternatives--staged visits, nitrous/laughing gas, monitoring, sealants/fluoride, etc.--and was told IV sedation was the only option. I was also told I cannot be present during the procedure. One of the teeth they labeled a "cavity" is a known trauma injury to her upper left canine (tooth H) from a fall about a year ago. I witnessed the injury and the area has been stable since (you can clearly see enamel loss with dentin showing). Our family dentist previously evaluated it and documented it as trauma-related dentin exposure, not decay. This office dismissed the trauma history completely and repeatedly insisted it was "definitely a cavity." They also took X-rays, but when I asked to see the images to confirm whether cavities were between the teeth and how deep, I was told the X-rays were "deleted" and they could not show me anything--yet they still spoke in absolutes and pushed IV sedation. As if that wasn't enough, they also stated my child has a tongue tie and suggested they cut it while she is under sedation, despite the fact that she has no feeding, speech, or tongue-related issues. This was presented casually as an add-on, not as a symptom-based evaluation or referral. What pushed this over the edge: I was told they will not see my child again for cleanings unless we proceed with their recommended fillings/sedation. I have never experienced a provider withholding basic preventive care as leverage to force agreement to treatment. My child has no pain. What we needed was evidence, a clear explanation, and reasonable options. What we got was pressure, dismissiveness, missing diagnostics, and an "our way or no care" stance. We will be getting a second opinion elsewhere, and I strongly suggest other parents do the same.

It's gotta be a parent. which is hard with my daughter going to nursing and working full-time she's doing the best she can. it was just her the dentist and the hygienist. All of them were super nice just that one lady out front. she should not work with the public with that attitude.
